Ok, this is a continuation of a game that started on a dead forum. And right away I'll have to ask any viewers to excuse the fact that we put In Character and Out of Character in the same thread due to most of us being rather inexperienced with roleplay and DnD.

We'll be putting OoC text (except this first section) underneath spoiler tags.

Now, what happened before we moved here?

Kobolds have been terrorizing the area between Fallcrest, the most central town of the Nentir Vale region, and Winterhaven in the west of the region.

The party slowly cobbled themselves together starting with the Human Fighter Agaton the Skirmisher arriving in town with a merchant caravan who met Quest, the Revenant Wizard, who was sent to Fallcrest to deal with the kobolds on a ..quest from his master though he was kinda going the wrong way since he was headed east and the kobolds were in the west.

When visiting the town's keep to inquire more about these kobolds (after getting in dept with a local family of halflings) a representative of the local lord offered them a bounty (advertised on a message-board in the town-square) for any slain kobold that they'd be able to proof and sent them to a tavern on the western side of town where others who'd taken the bounty as well as representatives of the dwarven keep to the east were assembling.

There they met the Dragonborn Paladin Draxan Stormtooth and the Eladrin Cleric Sariel Silverleaf as well as the Human Rogue simply called Gri and a small collection of others who did not care or didn''t have the opportunity to introduce themselves.

They were told that the subjects of the bounty could be hiding at one of two locations between Fallcrest and Winterhaven and as such two teams were made with Quest, Agaton and Gri being led by Sariel Silverleaf to an abandoned Eladrin keep in the Cloak Wood whilst Draxan Stormtooth would lead the rest to an abandoned abbey closer to Winterhaven.

Before leaving the town's perimeters by wagon Draxan and Sariel made a stop to conscript a local hermit who lived on the border of Fallcrest who hadn't been paying his taxes since he slipped in, by order of the local ministers.
This hermit was the last member to the Silverleaf party, the Elf Rogue Togorin.

The event to the Cloak Wood was uneventful though the results of the kobolds raiding the area were visible by the few burnt out farms and the protection hired by those who remained.

Arriving at the forest the group saidfarewell to their transporter who returned to Fallcrast with the horse that had pulled the wagon they'd now hidden near the edge of the woods.
Trekking into the Cloak Wood they managed to get themselves lost for an hour or so but the came across a road which they followed to a clearing where they encountered a pack of wolves after having found tracks earlier as well as their hunter and prey.

During the battle an archer revealed herself by almost striking down the pack alpha with just two well placed shots and after the wolves had either fled or been slain the hunter Kiera introduced herself to the adventurer's and she also revealed her quarry, a kobold that had climbed into a nearby tree, one the wolves had surrounded when the party stumbled across them.

After they attempted to gain information from the kobold Kiera led them and their prisoner to her home, a cabin in the woods in a clearing surrounded by traps.
Having rested and eaten there as well as secured the prisoner to the premise with food, water and a tending of it's wounds the group moved out by Kiera's lead to the abandoned keep where they found no resistance other than a enchanted slab of rock in the basement of one of the turrets of the keep's walls.

After finding out the answer to the slab's riddle part of it faded out of existence to reveal a downwards stairway with sounds of mining activity coming from below.

Making their way down to the origin of the sounds the party the kobolds' lair and encountered a few guards and miners at the entrance which were slain but not before two had fled deeper into the lair past a small portcullis that blocked the adventurers from pursuing.

Now they have managed to lift the latest obstacle in their way out of their path and they're delving deeper into enemy territory.

For anyone interested in reading the whole thing you can find the original thread here (http://poniesanddungeons.freeforums.org/4th-edition-dungeons-dragons-game-the-nentir-vale-t146.html).
Due to a fear of mine that the site might inevitably be taken down at some point in time I've begun transcribing it all into a Google Docs file on which progress is slower then I'd like to admit.

Quest reporting for duty and ready to panic in as useful a manner as possible

I've changed Sariel's textcolor from yellow to lightblue because the yellow is hard to read normally with the lighter background here.

Sneaking up ahead Gri quickly sees that the stairs only go down about 15 feet or so before opening into a new room.
Thinking back to what his ally Quest had said about a likely ambush he keeps his distance back on the stairs to avoid setting off whatever trap the kobolds could've set up.

Back in the previous room Sariel steps away from the gate apologizes for zoning out for a moment when Kiera forced it open right past her nose.
'My apologies, I was reminded of an incident I was told about. One of my mentors..' She whispers a quick prayer for the deceased. '..lost some of his extremities to falling blade traps.'

Kiera though only rolls her eyes at the cleric as she walks to the slain kobolds where she kneels down next to one of the nearby kobolds and preforms a short ritual mostly consisting mostly of repositioning the body and closing the eyes, respectfully taking the shield of one of them with a whispered apology as if it were an artifact.

'You do know that if we were the dead ones they'd have thrown us with the garbage right? So why this..charity?' The ranger curiously asks.

'To attempt to be the moral high ground Miss Kiera.
I know you must have lived a life similar to our foes where the strong and fit survive so I can at least...understand the reasoning behind slaying a defenseless enemy...' Though she says that she fails to hide a certain degree of anger and disgust in her tone and wording.

Over with Gri he finds that the stairs only go down about 15 feet before immediately opening into a new room that, from the stairs, seems more than suspiciously empty and quiet.
Due to the ceiling going down along with the stairs below it the rogue can't see very far into the room but he can spot the lower edge of something made out of stone in the room.

Since the passageway is only 5 feet wide you guys will need to go single-file so who goes in front?
I took slight liberties with the positioning, I just assumed everyone would have gathered near the gate by now.

Also, I had some trouble writing the dialogue for Sariel and Kiera so sorry for the delay.

"All right, good and bad news," Gri says as he gets back to the main rest of the group, clearly a little annoyed at layout of the hallway. "Good news, the first section seems to be devoid of blades of death. The bad news is it bottlenecks off into a single file wide staircase into the next chamber, wonderful choke point for an ambush. Brainstorming session?"

Had to change color as well, Gri's old color coding is a little to close to Kiera's on a white background.

Quest shifts his eyes nervously around the room.

"Don't like it," he repeats, "...No cover. "But, if we can't avoid notice, maybe we can determine where they are."

The revenant whispers an unintelligible query to the book imp on his shoulder. Dox responds with an affirmative chirp and flutters off into the passage way.

Minor action: Set familiar to active mode. As a reminder, Dox shares the same AC and defense values as Quest

Move action: Move Dox out into the open room

Guess I'll settle with Sienna for my new speech color

Agaton not sure what to do turns to Kiera, who is after all a experienced hunter

"Kiera do you notice any tracks that might tell us if a suprise is waiting for us up ahead?",

he asks the huntress politely.

Hillyan
2013-12-04, 02:38 AM
'I'd be flattered if your request wasn't, well, stupid Agaton. Stone doesn't leave any tracks unless they'd been walking through mud or whatever that goop in the pit is.
Besides, do I look like someone who knows a thing about dungeons?'

Looking Kiera over it's pretty obvious she's more an outdoors-woman than anything else especially with her great earth and flora cloak.

'Do not mind her sirre Agaton, I'm sure with the appropriate skills and experience one could be able to find a method of estimating such a thing but I fear that we lack that ability.'
As she talks she walks over to the fighter holding the shield she retrieved.

'There is however a way to find out our ambushers' numbers...but that would involve...triggering their trap..'
The cleric nervously stands silent before Agaton, full green eyes cast down as she thinks on her words before looking back up at the taller man.

'I do not wish to pressure you sirre Agaton but.. you are the most well protected of us and logic would advise that the one with the most protection should take the lead, to preserve the well-being of the others behind them..'
She presents the shield to him, though not much any little bit could help.
'If you would agree to bear this..burden then I will do all that I can do to aid you. I would bless you but my abilities lean more towards the restorative and not the empowering.'

'Drama queen.'

To the readers, Kiera's a character I'd put quit some time into thinking over and the most notable/obvious thing about her is a cloak that's basically made out of the strips of earth and grass you'd use to lay a yard with held together by a net.

Oh yeah, it's big and heavy, almost dragging on the ground and forcing her to bend her stance a bit under it's weight.
Bad for her back of course but during the medieval times you'd be lucky to get to an age where back problems would become a real problem so I'm going with it.

And to the players, I'm going to put in some more obvious descriptors along the way for a while since most of the people peeking in won't have read what's come before in detail so they've got no clue how everyone looks.

Togorin stands back as they discuss this, the hooded elf feeling indifferent to the whole thing. In his opinion as long as he's getting paid at the end of this he's happy.
"Why don't we just charge?" He says from within the robes shrugging at his own suggestion. "I'll cover whoever is going in first though." he says and walks up to the passage next to Agaton

Nuin

Agaton gives Sariel a nod, then takes the shield with his free hand,

it is apparent that his fighter is not used to handle shields,

he holds it more offensively like a big swatter of some sort.

"I am ready, oh and Sariel.",

the big fighter pauses to turn his head back at her.

"I don't mind her, her attitude is kinda adorable",

the fighter says taking the lead position.

""Before we get moving," Gri calls, moving over to the severed mobile head. Unceremoniously he picks up the mass and quickly runs it down Agaton's sword through the neck and mouth.

"Intimidation is a legitimate strategy," he says absently before turning to Sariel with an apologetic shrug, "any we scare the fight out of are less we have to kill. . .hopefully."

Gri lets the last bit trail off as he files in behind Togorin.

"Fine...yes. That's fine," Quest rasps tensely as he follows with a two-step berth and opens his spellbook with his free hand in order to keep his gaze fixated on the notes held within.

Hillyan

The kobold's head had been sent flying into the pit so Gri would have to climb into it to get it.
Also, Sariel may not take too kindly to that looking at the fact she preformed basic rites for the dead kobolds.

'Wait, what!? Oh no no no no, I am NOT adorable or anything like that.' Kiera starts hurriedly ranting, trying to prove her point but with the way she's trying to rush it and struggling for words at times it's having the opposite effect.
In the end she just gives up and kicks the side of Agaton's leg before striding off to the pool of goo, grumbling.

Sariel can't help but giggle into the back of her hand at the ranger's sudden embarrassment before straightening up again and speaking to Agaton. 'As enjoyable it may be to see her off of her pedestal I believe that it is time for us to press on.'

The blond cleric turns to speak to the rest of the group. 'Shall we continue in the formation we had agreed upon before?
Our opponents are on their own grounds here and are likely to have stored enough food to outlast us if we were to simply try to trap them here.'

[Half week post time-limit reminder.
I'll auto-pilot the group to the next part if no posts are made when the 17th hits.

To clarify, with the formation Sariel's talking about she means the marching order we'd set up on the previous forum;

Agaton, Togorin,
Gri, Sariel,
Quest, Kiera.]

Hillyan

Deciding it's time to move on the group starts pouring through into the passageway one by one with Agaton at the head, their marching order adapted to the narrower space.

Going around the corner and down the first part of the stairs the snake of people comes to a sudden halt as something's obviously wrong.
Though they can see into the beginning of the chamber quite well due to the light of the torch in the staircase the opposite wall is hidden behind a veil of darkness outside of the torch's light.

Quest empties the one gold piece from his coin pouch into his palm and, with a little reluctance of movement, releases the light spell from his hand and transfers it to the coin.

"Borrow my light...as you find prudent," the mage offers in his harsh whisper, tossing the radiant coin forward to Togorin.

The Light cantrip emits bright light within 4 squares of the object it is cast on. It will last until the end of an encounter or until Quest casts it again

Hillyan
2013-12-22, 08:20 AM
This all doesn't change much other than adding a light source to Togorin so there'll have to be more posts before things start happening.

Also, due to the program I'm using I can't assign a light source range of 4 so the spell has a range of 5.

Being the current lead of the party Agaton decides to go forward, with his blade raised.

Agaton moves down the stairs.

Hillyan
2013-12-23, 05:25 PM
Agaton cautiously walks down the stairs and into the room which reveals a large part of it still lit up with torches.
In the wall opposite to the stairs and to the left are a pair of metal double doors and to his left the room stretches out with a slightly raised platform at the end with some sort of altar atop of it and a passageway on the other far side.

Along the walls a few alcoves containing standing suits of armor are visible in the light but closer to him it dims, obscuring a more detail view of the four large stone objects in the room
The exact opposite of the room and the areas to his immediate left and right are shrouded in darkness.

In the light the fighter can see the scrawny kobold that had gotten away just retrieving a torch from it's holder on the opposite wall as well as three other kobolds each already putting a new rock in their slings to replace the ones they'd just sent flying in his direction.

To make matters worse two spears stab out of the shadows at his sides, one of which he manages to deftly evade but the other is driven deep into his side as he sidesteps the first.
Of the stones flung at him one misses and the second bounces off of his armor but the last one strikes him hard in the head leaving him a bloody mess.

Surprise Round;

Skirmishers 5 & 6: Standard; Spear attack against Agaton.
Slingers 2,3 & 4: Standard; Sling attack against Agaton.

Also, time to roll for Initiative everyone.]

I forgot to add in the map so I'm working on that now.
Last note, I used Gri & Agaton to show what areas are dimly lit which gives concealment (and a -2 attack penalty to attacks against them) to targets in it to creatures (the mentioned humans) that don't have low-light vision.

"And right back to be troublesome buggers, ain't they?" Gri grumbles, setting himself to fight as he hears the stones clack.

Maybe the forum will be nicer on initiative than I.C. Also since we have a forum roller handy it might be a bit speedier if you handle init so we can get right into it without having to wait on everybody. Just a thought for when you might feel more familiar with the roller.

Until then: Gri's Initiative: [roll0]

Kobold Skirmishers & Minion; 6,

Coding for the forum roller can be found over here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100917)

It's got coding checks to make sure you don't have people editing their rolls after the fact, such as not stating roll count doesn't match the database and recoding the post(go quote my previous post and you'll see that the actual post block says [ roll0] instead of my roll line or the code line). Only downside is they break when you try to preview a post with them and they just sometimes randomly break.

[The forum where we started this campaign is being deconstructed it seems so I'm sad to say that the first part of the adventure has been lost.
This means that some details will be lost though I'll try to note down those that I can remember.

Ok, the link I'd put up in the Recruiting thread still works so I'm guessing the site isn't being torn down, it's just not showing of it's sections on the main page.
Still, I'll be transcribing all of it into a text file to ensure it won't be lost.

Final note, dim light grants concealment to targets and if an attacker of those doesn't have dim-light or darkvision then they suffer a -2 attack penalty.
Darkness works the same but only darkvision users can attack without penalty which is -5 instead of -2.

This only does count for melee and ranged attacks though so burst and area attacks are unaffected.]

The fighter draws long and deep breath. the kolbolds prove to be fierce enemies.

"You prove to be a worthy opponent I will accept the Challange!", he declares to the Kobold waiting in the shadows.

Agaton uses footwork lure (he will shift one square right) and Combat challenge to mark the Kobold one square over him. Roll:
1d20+4+3; 1d8+4 → [11,4,3] = (18) (attack)

"Keep a hold of that for your use, we'll need it" Gri states, sliding around the corner past Togorin as he fishes out a small gold tipped stick. Silently hoping the coin would be enough, the skulk bursts down the hall before taking a blind swing to his left, hoping to catch one of the kobolds that had attacked Agaton and keep his own guard up.

Minor: Retrieve a Sunrod
Move: Move 1N, 3E
Standard: Attack with Riposte Strike vs NE Kobold
Atk vs AC: (minus 4 I think for cover and dim light or 7 if that one is in full darkness)
Damage: [roll] 1d4+3
Riposte(if attack hits and target attacks Gri: [roll1](minus whatever)
Riposte Damage: [roll2]

Agaton sidesteps away from the entrance to get out of the way for his allies before striking out at the partially concealed foe and landing a blow.
The fighter cannot see where though due to the shadows covering part of the creature but it's reaction, along with the feeling of resistance against his blade, tells him enough that he connected.

Agaton's Footwork Lure vs Skirmisher 5's AC;
18-2(partial concealment)= 16 vs 15; Hit, 5 damage.

Agaton can shift again and pull his target into the square he's leaving.
Skirmisher 5 is also marked with Agaton's Combat Challenge.

[I'm going with partial concealment due to the kobold being partially in bright light and partially in darkness.]

Taking out the light rod Gri slips past the elf in front of him and moves down to the bottom of the stairs before trying to lash out at one of his allies' attackers but his target evades the attack, momentarily vanishing from the rogue's limited sight on in around the corner and into the dark.

Gri's Riposte vs Skirmisher 6's AC;
10-2(cover)-2(partial concealment)= 6 vs 15; Miss.
Though having failed in his attack by bringing a new lightsource into the room Gri reveals most of it's dimensions as well as several extinguished torches lying on the cracked floorpanels below their holders and what the stone objects in the room are by casting one in enough light to reveal it's details. They're coffins. Four stone, about 3 foot tall, coffins that seem out of place here yet are still undeniably there.

[Ok, my last two nights have been rough, working 8 hours in a factory for two night in a row because an uncle of mine who works at an employment agency needed more people for that job desperately. Biggest mistake I've ever made.

Having reloaded their weapons the slingers unleash another barrage of rocks at Agaton but to their misfortune only one of them doesn't bounce off and manages to wound the fighter even further.

Slingers 2, 3 & 4: Standard; Sling attack against Agaton. Free; Reload Sling.

Slinger 2, 3 & 4's Sling attack (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4348590/) vs Agaton's AC;
11+6-2(cover)= 15 vs 19 AC; Miss.
15+6-2(cover)= 19 vs 19 AC; Hit, 7 damage.
4+6-2(cover)= 8 vs 19 AC; Miss.

Kiera slips to the front and around the bend but finds no space for her from which to strike so instead of holding back for a better opportunity she rushes straight through the fray, giving the two ambushers the chance to attack for which she ends up paying the price with a deep gash across her side.

Running to the furthest of the two nearest coffers to take up a safe firing position she's caught off-guard by the kobold who'd been hiding and biding it's time behind the closer one who manages to stab into the huntress' flesh as well though not as deep as the other wound she'd just received.

Kiera: Double Move; 3N & 9E. Minor; Hunter's Quarry on Skirmisher 7.

Skirmisher 5, 6 & 7's Attack of Opportunity (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4348595/) vs Kiera's AC;
20+6-2= Crit! Full 8 damage.
6+6 = 12 vs 16; Miss.
19+6= 25 vs 16; Hit; 2 damage.

Combat Challenge triggered; Agaton's Basic Melee Attack (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4348646/) vs Skirmisher 5;
9+7-2= 14 vs 15; Miss.

Agaton seizes the opportunity the huntress indirectly gave him and strikes out at the concealed creature again but this time his blade meets no resistance as it cuts through the shadows.

Though left bleeding from her newly acquired wounds Kiera still defies her attackers by pointing at the closest kobold and then running the same hand across her throat in a slicing motion.

Feigning a stumble Agaton lures his opponent into a full assault but jumping back at the last second leaves it with only the ground to stab into.

Religion Check;
The coffins are made out of stone and seem to be in passable condition judging from the wear and tear of age and the damage from vandalism.
The decorations on the side seem to mark these as the graves of highly ranked soldiers. Perhaps the keep's commanders or the personal guard of it's lord.

There seem to be the symbols of multiple deities engraved into the stone (underneath the damage) but the most prominent and easily identified is the star of Corellon, god of spring, arts and fey.

The Elf, after hearing the commotion and letting people dash past him joins the fray himself. It looks like he glides down the stairs, each light step hidden underneath his robes. Togorin uses the momentum of his run to push his sword at the kobold focused on Agaton, coming to a halt right there.

Apparently i can't get the hang of this rolling mechanic on the website, it is only showing [roll0] instead of any results, if i can't figure it out i might just link Invisible castle rolls again.

Wait so is it returning a post result of [roll0](roll0]) or are you actually typing [roll0](roll0])?
[rollX](X=equals the number of rolls in your post minus 1) is a database call that will pull up the proper roll assigned to that post in the database. If there are no rolls, the call has no result to return.
The roll coding tells the database to roll and save that result then automatically replaces the code with the [rollX] call so that the roll is a static result after being requested of the database.
Hillyan actually got the basic roll coding right, so I don't know why it broke(it does that sometimes especially if you preview).
example:(This is roll coding in brackets of course roll]1d20[/roll )[roll0]
(this is roll0])[roll0]
And because I called for a roll the forum made all those (roll0]) the same result.

Togorin's blade strikes true, digging deep in and through the kobold's side leaving it clutching the gaping wound, almost dropping to the ground right there and then.

Togorin's Piercing Strike vs Skirmisher 5's Reflex;
11+7+2(Com. Adv. from flanking)= 20 vs 14; Hit; 10 damage. Sneak attack can be used as well.

[I'd forgotten two things last time.
1.) To adjust Skirmisher 5's healthbar.
2.) To tag the kobolds who'd made their Attack of Opportunity.

Both of these have been updated with character's who've made their AoO noted by the grey cross over their token.

Also, I'm not posting the Kobolds' turn (and the map) until collin has decided to use his Sneak Attack or not.
He probably will but I can't decide or roll for him on this.]

Twisting the blade and pulling it to the side along the way out the elf nearly cuts his victim in half, leaving it to bleed out in agony on the floor.

Something that stands out about these kobolds, now that most of the group can see them up close, is that like the slinger who'd run away their faces are painted white to look like skulls.

Though one of theirs has fallen the other kobold fighters seem undeterred as the other ambusher moves over to line himself up with the other remaining skirmisher and Agaton.
Attacking simultaneously one of them misses but the others slips the tip of his spear between the scales of the humans armor and deep into his flesh.

This new wound on top of the ones and head-trauma he sustained is too much for the stubborn fighter's battered body to take and he falls to the ground unconscious.

Skirmisher 6: Minor; Shifty; Shift 1E. Standard; Spear attack at Agaton. Move; 1NE.
Skirmisher 7: Standard; Spear attack at Agaton. Move; Move 1N & 1NW.
Minion; Double Move; 3N & 6W.

Skirmisher 6 & 7's Spear (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4356398/) attack against Agaton's AC;
18+6+2(Com. Adv.)= 26 vs 19; Hit, 7 damage.
8+6+2(Com. Adv.)= 16; Miss.
The kobold actually seems surprised that it's managed to down the fighter and just stands there in shock for a moment.
Coming out of it's momentary entrancement the kobold jumps up on his prone but alive victim and thrusts up it's spear in the air with a triumphant shout before turning back to the rest with a fearsome glare in it's eyes.

It's clear that the kobolds' moral has just gotten a great boost as they take on a more confident stance, hiding less behind their cover but not leaving it either.

Still though, the accomplice to Agaton's fall retreats to a spot where it'll have some cover from whatever attack the angered ranger has planned for it and the kobold who'd been retrieving a torch from the wall takes off as well though a shout and a threat from another kobold nearby makes it change direction to the altar in the corner.

'Agaton!'
Moving up Sariel sees Agaton fall to his attacker and immediately goes into prayer to her deity's symbol, her voice echoing down the hall into the room as holy power flows through her.
'Lord Ioun, let this noble soul not join the Raven Queen's flock yet, this your humble vassal begs you!'

Her prayer seem to be answered in full as the soothing glow leaves her and instead appears on the downed fighter's wounds, melding his flesh back together though he is still left bloody and bleeding but in a far better state than he was before but also still prone underneath his attacker.

"Duck!"
Light returns to Sariel's implement but not the dim soothing kind of a healing spell as it concentrates and intensifies more than seen before into the shape of a lance which she promptly sends flying at Agaton's assailant.
Streaking through the air at a downward arc to avoid the stairs' ceiling it hits it's target center-mass in the chest, searing light enveloping the kobold for a moment though despite the shock it manages to keep it's balance and not fall off of the fighter.

Sariel: Move; 2N & 1E. Minor; Healing Word (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4356536/) on Agaton. Standard; Lance of Faith at Skirmisher 6.

[Ok, this post turned out longer than expected. Sorry for being a bit late with it, the night I was supposed to work on it I started a new game of XCOM after getting the expansion Enemy Within.
People who've also played it can probably understand how much of a time sink it is though looking at how my best team got absolutely slaughtered by Chrysallids in the Newfoundland fishing village mission it's unlikely that I'll start that up again this week.

As for game-related things, because Skirmisher 6 is blocking sight of Agaton's token he's got the blue ring around him for being prone, it's actually what it uses to signify it if you enable prone on the State section of a token in MapTool.
Might use that again to mark prone target or might stick to using it to show out of sight effects.]

his vision is blurred and he feels the weight of a smaller creature on his torso.

With the other skirmisher withdrawing Gri puts up a bit of pursuit, sliding out of the hall and making his way towards the kobold. Moving straight for the small draconian's flank the skulk jumps as he nears the coffin landing rather soundly on its lid and turning in place to slash at the reptile's brow with his dagger in an attempt to spook his target into leaving an opening on its own counter attack.

Feeling the form under him shift the kobold manages to evade the sluggish attempt at a grapple from Agaton, alerting it to his return to consciousness.

Agaton's Grab attempt vs Skirmisher 6's Reflex;
2+4(Str. Mod.)+2(Brawler)+2(Lance of Faith)= 10 vs 14; Miss.

Agaton still has his move and minor actions left.
He could grab his dropped sword which he'd have dropped whilst falling unconscious and stand up though I'm not sure what this'd do to the kobold.

It'd probably get thrown off and have to make a check to see if it falls prone with another roll to see what direction he's pushed off to.

Running up to the kobold Gri can feel something the floor sink in an inch or so just as he's about to jump.
A dart flies past him in mid-air befor he lands securely on top of the tomb which clatters to the ground at the other side of the room after hitting the metal double doors.

With his little stunt the rogue has also given his target a chance to strike but it misjudges the leaping human's speed and stabs only the air at his back before he manages to slash the now exposed draconic across the side of it's head in return, staining the white paint on it's head red as blood trickles out of the cut.

Dart Trap (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4361066/) at Gri's AC;
3+8= 11 vs 15; Miss.

Skirmisher 7's AoO (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4361090/) at Gri's AC;
5+6= 11 vs 15; Miss.

Gri's Riposte Strike at Skirmisher 7's AC;
14+1(situation; high ground)= 15 vs 15; Hit, 4 damage and riposte if skirmisher counter-attacks.

[Two rolls with the same end result, don't see that every day.]

Grabbing his blade and rolls over, trying to flip the kobold standing on top of him over but it somehow manages to keep to it's feet and jumps off on it's own accord when the fighter goes into a dive towards his allies.

Agaton's horizontal 'Jump' check;
16:10= 1,6 squares.

Skirmisher 6's 'Unstable ground' Balance (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4363474/) check;
19+8= 27 vs DC 20-25; Success.

Agaton is still prone and has left behind the shield.

[Normally I think this would have provoked an Opportunity attack since in 3 dimensional terms below would be seen as adjacent but seeing as that the kobold would've been more busy keeping it's balance I'm letting it slip this time].

'Gri, you're in my shot!' Kiera calls out as she tries to line up a shot with her bow.
Grumbling the huntress lowers her bow and climbs onto the coffin, moving to the other end of it with a bit off difficult due to the uneven surface and her wounded hip.

Now with a clear shot at her target Kiera loads up two arrows and sends them to her target one by one with the first hitting it right in the torso, blood now flowing freely from both it's head and chest whilst the other arrow skids past it across the floor.

Kiera: Move; Climb coffin & Move 1N. Standard; Twin Strike at Skirmisher 7.

Kiera's Twin Strike (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4363601/) at Skirmisher 7's AC;
18+5= 23 vs 15; Hit, 10+1 (Hunter's Quarry)= 11 damage.
8+5= 13 vs 15; Miss.

With the adventurers closing in (and one they'd thought beaten rising again) the slingers shift their cover and split up their targets, going for the closest target each.
With their targets up and out in the open they're easy targets with Kiera getting the worst of it before she can react with two rocks slamming her in the face, knocking her out and almost causing her to fall from her perch on the way down.

The moral loss Agaton's return to consciousness brought with it seems to have been cancelled out by Kiera's fall as the kobolds seem even more glad to see her fall than the fighter as this time they all momentarily celebrate this victory.

Slinger 2: Move; 1W. Standard; Sling attack at Kiera.
Slinger 3: Move 1W. Standard; Sling attack at Gri.
Slinger 4: Move 1N. Standard; Sling attack at Kiera.

Slinger 2 & 4's Sling (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4363719/) vs Kiera's AC & Slinger 3's Sling vs Gri's AC;
(In numerical order so the middle one is at Gri, put apart by target below; Kiera then Gri.)
17+6= 23 vs 16; Hit, 5 damage.
16+6= 22 vs 16; Hit, 9 damage.

13+6= 19 vs 15; Hit, 4 damage.

[I just realized I'd forgotten the glue shots the Slingers have, that's why they've been doing so much damage this encounter.
They are meant to first use those and then start chucking rocks.

My bad, expect a few glue shots to compensate, party's getting close anyway so they'd prefer to keep the distance and cover they have left.
Note to self, update notes and triple check them.]

"Reinforcements!" Quest gasps, shaken by the critical state his allies have been brought to, "Reinforcements! I have one!"

The revenant stumbles forward into the room and opens his tome to a well-worn page, holding it above him with trembling talons.

"Scavenger of the elemental plane! Scything winds roar!" Quest wails, cowering as a fierce draft of wind whips through the stagnant air of the chamber and coalesces into the form of a savage air elemental.

Attempting to spread his focus too thin by blasting a ray of ice at the kobold next to Gri, Quest is pummeled to the ground by a blast of wind from his wayward elemental as it gleefully rips at the creatures within its reach.

With the air and dust accumulated throughout the ages suddenly whirling around them the two kobolds aren't given a moments rest before they are battered with a gust of wind strong enough to throw one of them over the other and against the wall, dropping it dead to the ground.

The other manages to avoid the same fate by grabbing onto the coffin-cover though now it's facing a personification of fury unbound in the form of swirling air, the dust it's carrying dense enough to see the very crude form of a humanoid of just a torso and two thick 'arms' around which two golden rings levitate up and down along with the ever-shifting currents of the elemental.

Quest's Ray of Frost vs Skirmisher 7's Fortitude;
1+4= 5 vs 11; Miss.
[Can't add much more for fluff on this than Ivan already did.]

Dust Devil's attack vs Slinger 2 & 4's Reflex;
19+4= 23 vs 14; Hit, 12 damage.
6+4= 10 vs 14; Miss.

Carefully stepping closer to the kobold Togorin lashes out at it and manages to cut a deep bloody gash into it's side.

Togorin's Riposte Strike vs Skirmisher 6's AC;
12+7= 19 vs 15; Hit, 5 damage.

The front-line fighters of the kobolds retreat but not before they leave their sting.
Gri's opponent manages to evade the rogue's counterattack and drives the head of it's spear deep into his flesh before scurrying off to behind the next coffin whilst the one facing Agaton & Togorin lashes out at the prone human and though it slips in between his armor the spear's head doesn't go in far enough to leave more than a small shallow cut before it joins it's allies.

Skirmisher 6: Standard; Attack Agaton with Spear. Minor; Shifty, shift 1E. Move; 1NE & 5N.
Skirmisher 7; Standard; Attack Gri with Spear (triggers Gri's Riposte). Minor; Shifty, shift 1 NE. Move; 3N.

11+6= 17 vs 15; Hit, 7 damage.
17+6+2(Com. Adv.)= 23 vs 18; Hit, 1 damage.

Sariel moves down the stairs and into the room behind between the elf and the human at the entrance, now at last witness to the full view of the battlefield.
Seeing most of her allies wounded to the point of excessive bleeding she takes her holy symbol and raises it to the, about 15 feet high roof and voices another prayer to Ioun.

Light shines from the silver object and washes out across the room, invigorating the bloodied adventurers and returning Kiera back to consciousness.
As Sariel lowers the symbol again it can be seen clearly that the spell has taken a lot out of her as she's breathing more heavily than before but she seems to be holding on for now.

"I have only two more spells ready including the most difficult one I know." The cleric says in between labored breathes. "I would not be able to cast it again today if I preform it so please be careful."

Move; 5E. Standard; Healer's Mercy.
Healing surges for Gri, Agaton & Kiera.

[Looking over Sariel's skills again I found I'd made a mistake when I'd had her use Divine Glow back in the wolves encounter.
It's a close blast and not a burst as I'd used it then.]

"We may need to bunker down anyway," Gri calls back, flinging his dagger at the kobold that had detached from Togorin and Agaton despite his wounds. Without waiting to see his shot the rogue hops backwards and off the coffin, crouching slightly in a possibly vain attempt to get some cover.

"I'm almost at my limit on pushing myself," Gri continues his previous thought, the signs of fatigue starting to show about as clearly as his wounds as he draws his second dagger.

[Quickie before I get started on the full post;
Yes, the coffins give cover.

EDIT; Just noticed that I'd forgotten to put the prone marker on Kiera.

Also I have to admit I made a slight mistake with the rounds and the marking of having use a AoO.
I failed to notice the rounds ending (yes, that should've been more than obvious) probably because so far we've had longer turn times with the action split into 3-4 pieces split up by a PC needing to input their action and I'd gotten used to this.

Luckily nothing's done anything to draw AoO's so there's no harm done.
I'll try to avoid such mistakes in the future by going back to putting out maps at the end and start of a round.

EDIT2; Ok, it seems the translator I'd been using has been taken down for one reason or another so I'm looking for a new one.

[InvisibleCaslte is down so I'm using a different roller that works similarly.]

Agaton pushes himself up and moves over to his ally slipping past the other who's retreated for the moment and drawing a new dagger, his previous one thrown at one of the kobolds.
Missing it's target, who quickly pulled up the leg it would've hit otherwise, the blade slides across the floor after clattering against the stone coffer.

Gri's thrown Dagger vs Skirmisher 6's AC;
5+7= 12 vs 15; Miss.

[PC's are getting quite the bad luck streak with rolls huh.]

Now faced opponents on two sides the kobold that survived the elemental's onslaught scrambles to get away from it, climbing over one of the coffins and slipping past the skirmishers to get in a safer position.
Both he and the other slinger pull out a goo-ball each and split their attacks on the dust devil and Agaton in the hopes of buying time to re-position themselves.

Though the one sent at the elemental does little to it other than getting caught in the current and tinting it slightly green with the goo that isn't flung out onto the floor around it the one Agaton's got going his way hits him, causing it to burst across his lower body, pinning him to the floor with the glue-like sludge.

Kiera pushes herself up to a crouch on the coffin, holding her left eye closed to shield it from the blood flowing down her face and spitting out the amount of it that'd pooled in her mouth along with a red-stained tooth onto the coffer.
Wiping her face with a hand she grimaces as it crosses her nose.

The huntress picks up her bow and raises to her full length, dragging her cloak along with her as she practically starts growling aloud whilst working herself into a frenzy.

[With those moves the dust devil's attack would hit the Slingers and Skirmisher 7 instead of Slinger 4 and both Skirmishers so I'll consider the attack rolls in order from top to bottom and left to right seeing as how that'd correspond with the 'direction' the attack would be making going by your sequence of rolls.

Also, IC is back up again. Keeping the other as a backup.]

Surging forward as commanded the dust devil unleashes it's fury onto the kobolds though only one is unlucky enough to b caught in the attack with the others quick enough to duck to let most of the blast of air blow over them.

Noticing the projectile heading their way Agaton and Kiera manage to evade it as well at the last second before it hits the metal doors near them and clatters to the floor, joining it's brother there.
In a similar fashion the elf's throwing knife misses the same target the other rogue went for, the blade joining it's friend on the floor a bit further down the room.

The kobolds surround the closest threat and stab out at the rings binding it to this plane of reality, managing to chip the gems in both causing the bound elemental to lose some of it's cohesiveness, it's shape becoming harder to define and it's currents to weaken.

Skirmisher 6 & 7's Spear vs Dust Devil's AC;
Ok, the reason why I didn't add a link or rolls here is because I screwed up.
At times I've forgotten to add modifiers to rolls so I'd had to redo them but from now on I'm just gonna roll without those so I don't have to reroll things in case I make a mistake like that.

The reason I've decided this is because the re-roll I had to make for these attacks obliterated the Dust Devil and that just felt wrong after they'd originally would only wound it.
So for this once the roll is missing though I still know both hit anyway(with +6, flank and +4 Mob Attack they'd need a 3 or lower to miss) and delivered a total of 7 damage.

"Watch your step, there are likely to be more traps." Sariel calls out having noticed the dart shooting across the room as well.

She moves around the bled out kobold in front of her and Gri into a more central position and tries to aid Agaton in freeing himself from his sticky impediment though she only really succeeds in getting her gloves covered with the sludge. "Lords above, please let this wash of with water..."

[One last thing I'll add is that I'm considering letting enemies (at least sentient ones) to be knocked out when dropped to 0 HP and then bleed out in 3 turns like with PC without the death rolls.
My reasoning behind this is that for roleplay a whole lot of small wounds won't outright kill someone/-thing so having them bleed out instead seems more realistic.]

Agaton tries to pull himself free from the sticky substance.

"Do not worry Sariel once I get out of here I will be alright.", the fighter assures her.

Being able to still move his arms he picks up a small rock

Grimacing slightly from his wounds and a bit from the knowledge that what he was about to do was probably crazy, Gri pushes himself away from the coffin he's at and around its east side.

"Watch your heads," he calls dashing towards the slingers and around to the west side of the next coffin hoping to trigger as few the dart traps as necessary. As the rogue closes in on the closest slinger he puts on a final burst of speed to close in the distance, taking a low swing at the kobold's exposed back in an effort to capitalize on it being distracted by the elemental.

[Ok, bad news.
Due to unexpected dumb****ery, (yes that's an actual word as much as the spellchecker hates it) with my pc the next post has been lost so I'll have to re-do it.
Luckily I had been working on the map alongside it and that has been saved so I know what everyone does but the results will differ since I'll have to redo the rolls.

This could end up for the best or worst of the group but since I need evidence for what happens my hand is forced to this.]

Agaton picks up a fragment of the broken floor-tiles that's a manageable size and throws it at the closest kobold with surprising speed and accuracy, striking it on the side of it's head and knocking it out while it's still focused on the elemental.

Agaton's Improvised Ranged Attack vs Skirmisher 7's AC;
17+2= 19 vs 15; Hit, 4(2+2 Dex.Mod) damage.

Abandoning his cover Gri charges forwards, taking his sunrod with him, and triggers two traps on his way before attempting to hit the kobold hiding around the corner but said corner, the dart from the second trap digging into his flesh and the numbness spreading from said wound through his body make his attack feeble at best.

Dart Traps (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4385212/) vs Gri's AC;
4+8= 12 vs 15; Miss.
20+8= 28 vs 15; Crit, full 8 damage and Gri's Immobilized until the end of his next turn.

I had a whole big spiel here about how I not fully understand traps in DnD, especially this one due to the Immobilizing seeming like a too big a penalty since with +8 the trap is very likely to hit him and keep him pinned on the spot but now that I think about it it's probably like that to encourage finding and avoiding the traps.

Also, from now on when a trap's trigger is set off it'll be revealed on the map as well as a line of attack to hint at the trap's location (if it's projectile based).

With their enemies now approaching right into arms reach the slingers break away from their cover, split up and fall back to the steps of the raised area with the altar.
Noticing the human rogue's condition they focus their attack on the greatest nearby threat, the dust devil, chipping further away at the gems keeping it contained.

Slinger 3: Minor; Shifty, shift 1W. Move; 1NW & 1N. Standard; Attack Dust Devil with Sling.

10+6= 16 vs 14; Hit, 3 damage.
3+6= 9 vs 14; Miss.

Coming down somewhat from her self-induced adrenaline high Kiera throws a short one-eyed glare at Agaton for taking out her target but says nothing of it as she jumps down from the coffin and rushes forward past the next row.
Taking aim at the other skirmisher she draws back far on her longbow and sends an arrow flying at it to run it through before she dive-rolls back into cover, leaving some dirt and greenery behind from her cloak.

[I can safely say that the re-rolls due to the loss of the post ended up favoring the party.

Also I'm gonna try and do something similar to how pc's die with enemies in that they bleed out after 3 turns without them getting death save rolls or being able to be revived.
My reasoning for this is that a lot of small wounds can't realistically kill off an enemy so instead they lose consciousness from the pain and then bleed out.

EDIT; I overlooked the fact that al the skirmishers were dead so I've removed them from the initiative.]

Quest continues to gesture wildly from his bowed position, emitting choked mumbles of words. Thankfully, his summoned creature responds to his will for it to continue forcing the attack rather than the half-garbled statements the revenant implies about the kobolds' hygiene.

[Ok, first off I apologize for not responding as quickly as I've usually done though I've had my reasons which I in no way regret.

The first reason would of course be awaiting Gran collin's post though of course I could have prodded him to do this.
My other reason is the fact that I discovered, read and finished what I would call one of the, if not THE, best crossover fanfiction I've ever read.
(28th to today with some days break so I'd say about a week.)

If I've caught anyone's attention with this I'll provide a link to it on FimFiction.
http://www.fimfiction.net/story/100455/stardust

To those other than my group; Yes, it's an MLP crossover (with XCOM) but as the description suggest I'd ask you at least give the first 3 chapters a try before deciding to discard it just for being MLP-related.
I know I didn't regret my decision to continue that's for sure and it's rather light on the MLP stuff anyway.]

Whisking forwards the dust devil whirls the wind around again but it's vicinity to the wall interferes with the current, breaking it up enough to have little effect on the kobolds.

Dust Devil's AoE Attack vs Slinger 4;
9+4= 13 vs 14; Miss.

I've not been acting for the minion due to it basically cowering in the corner the whole time and I didn't really think of anyone attacking it though I probably should've seen this bit coming due to it being close to the slinger.
Then again Ivan didn't make a second attack roll which I think he should've made for any targets caught in the burst but I could be wrong on that, it's late here now.

So if you want to attack the minion as well just take another roll otherwise I'll just assume it managed to not get flung across the room due to laying low (Total Defense).

[Gri's up, might want to check more often Gran.
No map due to only one movement which put the Dust Devil between the top slinger and minion.]

For the record, yeah, I moved the dust devil to the opposite side of the target so it isn't attacking the minion.

Also, the Dust Devil's burst 1 effects all creatures in burst, and thus is required to roll attack rolls against every creature in range. That's one of the risks of the power's "Intrinsic Nature" if I fail to give it commands.

Ah sorry for being late, i got caught up in school and drawing, I kept promising myself i would check it but never did.

Sariel tries to move around Agaton to get a slightly better position in regards to the rest of the adventuring group without getting stuck in the same place but she is halted as she triggers one of the traps and a dart is driven into her shoulder.
With a cry of pain the cleric drops to a knee as tears begin to form in the corner of her eyes at the unfamiliar and unwelcome feeling whilst the paralyzing agent spreads through her flesh.

Fighting through the pain as the cloth on her shoulder turns from blue to red Sariel still manages to voice a prayer once more for her allies as she spends her second-to-last spell to ensure Gri's survival before trying to help Agaton pull free of the goo again with her good arm.

"Kegging darts," Gri curses their groups lack of time to deal with the dart traps. It didn't help that whatever they were tipped with was keeping him just shy of being in range or a clear shot at either of the slingers.

With little option against the venom, the skulk lets his dagger fall from his hand as he quickly draws and flings one of his smaller blades at the kobold ahead of him. As the blade sails through the air he dips down to retrieve his dagger to prepare for if the other slinger thinks to pass by him.

"I'll...recover." Sariel responds, regaining some of her composure but remains kneeled as she cautiously tries to move her wounded arm.
"Ah!...ugh..The bone has not been broken or I would not be able to still move it...but I can feel a numbness spreading from it..the dart must've been laced with a poison of sorts.."

Finishing her self-diagnosis Sariel reads into Agaton's attempt to help remove the offending object and manages to turn around to let him pull the dart from her shoulder which the fighter removes rather unprofessionally.
Having braced for the anticipated extraction Sariel's vocalization at the removal is not as loud as the insertion but still very audible.

Looking a bit paler, but still mostly fine otherwise, Sariel uses her opposite hand to put pressure on the wound before helping Agaton finally manage to pull free from the goo with the other, the viscous substance tearing and breaking as it oxidizes rapidly due to the greater exposure.

[I'm guessing that was an attempt to allow Sariel her Second Wind.]
9 vs DC 10; Failed.

As Gri drops his dagger so he can retrieve one of his throwing knives the trap fires off another dart at him which he dodges by a long shot.
Sending the smaller blade flying at the kobold ahead of him it ends up embedding itself into a crack between the boulders the walls' made off.

[Quest's part needs no addition.]

Moving into position behind the kobold whilst it's attention is divided between the Dust Devil that's been tormenting it for a while now and the huntress who's blocking it's escape Togoring manages to line up his blade almost perfectly and runs the kobold through, the blade cutting through the thin creature before it is withdrawn, leaving it bleeding profusely, barely able to stand and looking ready to collapse at any moment.

Togorin's Piercing Strike vs Slinger 3's Reflex;
13+7+2(Flank)= 22 vs 14; Hit, 15 damage.

The trap that'd put it's previous dart into her shoulder goes off again but this time Sariel knows it's coming and manages to remain crouched underneath the shot though she can still feel the poison in her body.
With her body unable to move off of the pressureplate on it's own she instead taps into the Feywild, vanishing in a flash and reappearing with another in front of Gri.

[With her other action I'm leaving the choice to Gran.
I can't decide between having Sariel try to push/shove Gri off of the triggerstone (1S) or to try and trigger his Second Wind.

I'd prefer the former but there are no real rules for forcing allies to move without a power so at best I'd say that it'd be a Strength check to be able to move Gri's weight (plus 72lb from his equipment) but with him being Immobilized he'd end up prone on the ground.

Dart Trap (http://www.charactersheet.net/rpg/dice-roller/5300abf5-9944-4714-a5f1-5f18adecb046) vs Sariel's AC;
2+8= 10 vs 16; Miss.

Sariel:
Move; Fey Step, teleport 5N.

Strength or Heal check (http://www.charactersheet.net/rpg/dice-roller/5300c0ae-8158-4ac1-9dda-377cadecb046), depending on Gran's decision;
Str: 13+2= 15; capable of pushing ? pounds
(I'm guessing it'd be times 15-20 since carrying load is 10 times Strength and this'd be more of a burst of strength, making 225-300 pounds.
Any thoughts Ivan?)
Heal: 13+8= 21 vs 15; Success.
[Again, leaving it up to Gran to decide which to go with, just rolled so it'd be ready.][/CENTER

[With only two surges remaining that leaves the first option the soundest unless we're going to be taking an extended rest. Also, given that the immobilized was an EONT thing, Gri actually isn't immobilized anymore given that the last dart missed. Even with ending prone it would still be a bit preferable.

As for actual rules for it: It's not hard to reverse engineer some trip rules or something from the Bull Rush rules or even Str check result times 15 to push an unattended object or willing creature 1 square]

If the ally is willing there should be no need for a check in these kinds of situations; If an ally is unwilling would be a bull rush attack

I believe the push/pull load is at least 5 x weight of your standard load. Will correct myself if I check and find this to be wrong, but anyway about it you shouldn't have trouble pushing your average person around even without counting it as an auto-permitted bull rush.

[Ah yes, I'd overlooked that no longer Immobilized bit but the trap would fire anyway at the start of his turn so it'd been likely he'd be right back where he started.
Push it is then. I'll not have you roll for balance or so so we can just move on.]

Reappearing from the Feywild Sariel turns to Gri, notifying him quickly of what she plans to do before giving the rogue a shove without fully awaiting his approval, knowing that the trap will go off before he can get away on his own, to get him off of his triggerstone as well.
Like her ally, she can also feel the paralyzing effect start to fade away as her body combats the invasive agent.

Feeling the combat to come to an end and finally free from the sticky goo Agaton decides to Follow Sariel and join the rest of the group.

"First thing I will do once we are back is to buy a big crossbow to get rid of those pesky stone slinging Kobolds", he says exhausted.

he then notices one of the Kobold slingers trying to sneak away and getting blocked of by Kiera,
he lifts a loose stone tile from the ground, much heavier than his last,
his arms stretches out as he uses the motion of his whole body to haul the big projectile at the kobold.

Sorry for the delay it is like Hillyan said, 2 of our teachers just decided to write test on short notice and i spent most my days with work and studying
Move 5 squares north, pick up Projectile throw at bloodied kobold.

Now off of the trigger plate, Gri looses a small sigh of relief before focusing back on the task at hand. His aim had been rather off in the current skirmish, and it was starting to perturb him

"Just a little push to get us through this," he mutters slightly before moving off around the rear of the other nearby coffin, "sizable chunk for someone's luck if we do."

Now against the wall, Gri puts out another solid sprint to pull in behind Togorin before flinging his dagger, almost desperately, dead ahead at the fleeing kobold before drawing out his last dagger. Thankfully he could hug the wall well enough to line up despite the elf, and Kiera's hunch posture made it easy to arc the blade over her shoulder.

Charging forward Agaton triggers a different pressure plate linked to the dart trap with one of said projectiles almost immediately piercing through the scales of his armor.
Halted in his movement but still close enough to risk a shot and with the poison just starting to kick in the fighter resumes his plan of attack but the grunting and groaning of lifting the larger rock with increasing difficulty tips the kobold off on his attack, causing the floortile to shatter on the floor next to it.

Dart Trap (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4407771/) vs Agaton's AC;
20+8- Crit! Full 8 damage & Immobilized until the end of his next turn.

Agaton's Improvised Ranged Attack vs Slinger 3's AC;
7+2= 9 vs 13; Miss.

Moving around to avoid any other nearby triggerstones (of which Agaton's reckless charges proves the presence of one) and follow his ally who'd not set off the trap in his passing Gri puts his faith in his metal as he throws it at his target past two of his team and strikes true, the blade digging in through the leather and flesh.

Gri's Thrown Dagger vs Slinger 4's AC;
7+7= 14 vs 13; Hit, 6 damage.

Close enough to smell the stench of her prey Kiera brings down her weapons down upon it with with a cry as savage as the strength behind the tools and though it manages to avoid getting it's skull caved in it still gets slashed almost straight down the chest by the huntress' blade while her mace smashes another floortile to shards.

[Technically Kiera and the Slingers go at the same time but for convenience's sake I've let the Slingers go first most of the time but now I'm gonna switch it around a second time.]

Kiera:
Minor; Mark Slinger 4 with Hunter's Quarry.
Standard; Attack Slinger 4 with Two-Fanged Strike.

Kiera's Two-Fanged Strike (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4407944/) vs Slinger 4's AC;
7+4= 11 vs 13; Miss.
17+5= 22 vs 13; Hit, 6 damage.
Quarry (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4407954/)= 6 damage.
[Forgot to add the 1d6 to the attack roll.]

Be it knowing it is going to die anyway or the desire for one final act of vengeance the mortally wounded Slinger goes against any survival instinct and tries to cover for it's comrade by slipping in behind Kiera as both draw their daggers and strike at the same time as if telepathically guided, both drawing more blood than expected from such evasive creatures.

With it's pursuer heavily wounded and occupied the other kobold takes it's leave and bolts down another set of stairs deeper into the ground, leaving Kiera very aggravated at it's escape.
However, the huntress' seems to hear something down the way that cools her temper a bit before disregarding it and turning to her newest target with it staring back at her defiantly.

Quest lifts himself momentarily to his feet once again and makes a clutching motion at the remaining kobold, shuddering as the image of a many-eyed, gnashing worm-like creature passes from his own mind and hurtles itself at the wizard's target.

Getting up only to be knocked down again by the fickle whims of 'his' summoned creature disrupts Quest's concentration enough for the wiry mage to end up warping a good chunk of the armor behind his target instead it's mind.

Though momentarily distracted by the whining and groaning of twisting metal besides her Kiera's attention is turned to the wizard's summon as the sound of whirling air growing louder announces it's approach from behind.
Wounded as she is she doesn't seem too impressed by murderous dust cloud, stretching herself to her full length whilst pushing her chest forwards for a few moments as if to declare her dominance over the smaller being, daring it to try and defy that 'fact'.

Quest's Nightmare Eruption vs Slinger 3's Will;
1+4= 5 vs 12; Miss.

Togorin's shout draws the attention of the frightened kobold hiding behind the crude alter who'd until then seemed to have kept itself busy with a string of prayer beads.
To emphasize his claim the elf runs the last combative kobold through with it spending it's last moment trying to struggle before falling limp onto the blade.

If he'd been close enough the sneak might've been able to see the kobold's pupils grow to almost the size of his iris' before quickly scanning the room in panic.
Finding no way out it scrambles to the other side of the altar and quickly redoubles it's prayers.

Togorin's Piercing Attack & Intimidate vs Slinger 3's Reflex & Minion 2's Will;
9+7+2(flank)= 18 vs 14; Hit, 9 damage.

Sariel murmurs a word in a language not as gravely as the Draconic she's spoken before but still deep, a tone of disappointment still recognizable in her pronunciation.
Stowing away her mace the cleric slowly approaches the last of the kobolds but keeps some safe distance to avoid harm in case of it lashing out as well as not risk panicing it further by driving it more into the corner than it already is.

Speaking to it in the Draconic accent that makes her sound like she'd smoked a hay-bale she tries to sooth it, taking the chance to try and spare it now that Kiera is busy trying to glare down an elemental though she has little luck with the opportunity.

[Quickie; The Return!

Because the last kobolds actually out for blood in the area are either dead, dying or gone and the fact that Nuin's pretty busy recently I'm willing to say that combat is over to speed things up a bit and let you guys go back into free-play though technically Agaton would still have to be removed from the triggerstone to be safe.
Could just handwave the next attack as a miss so he can get away himself, no longer other threats around so he could focus on avoiding the attack.

There are two other things I wanted to bring up.

1.) Party Inventory.
I've kinda forgotten to keep track of the kobold tails collected from the last encounter and who had them so I'm putting those into a sort of 'party inventory' for now.
You can probably guess what it is, items collected by the party of which it is uncertain of who has them.
It's just a temporary thing but I'm also going to use this for the other subject.

2.) Post-Combat Collecting.
Pretty much the previous idea put to a different use.

I'll put up a list of items that can be found on killed, unconscious & captured enemies in the area, so nothing hidden or in/on other objects in the area, to make it easier to collect and divide any loot though you'd still have to go collect it for roleplay.
It's just a representation so the party doesn't have to search each and every body to find out what they have and I'll also note any possibly recoverable items that have been thrown or discarded.]

Naming both for now, after someone's taken the responsibility for the tails I'll leave out the names.

Party Inventory;
3 Kobold tails.

PCC.
Skirmishers;
3 spears,
3 light shields &
3 small sets of hide armors.

Slinger;
1 small set of leather armor,
1 dagger,
1 sling,
12 sling bullets &
1 glue shot.

Scattered around;
1 light shield &
2 daggers(Gri's).

Togorin holds his blade until his victim stops moving and yanks it out to see Sariel approaching the Kobold. He strides over there wiping the blood off of his blade with the sleeve of his robe and points it at the cowering minion.

"Don't coddle him. Not sure about you but I'm not here to make friends." He growls at Sariel keeping his blade pointed at his target, ready to kill him if he makes any attempt to fight back.

"Stop praying, the dragon won't help you down here. You are going to listen to her, or else." He takes a step closer, unsure if the kobold can even understand him but trying to sound menacing anyways.

((OOC: Did I pick up the throwing knife I used yet? if so Togorin is uninterested in anything non-shiny. Also I like the way it is, it doesn't take up too much space and you can still tell which part belongs to whoms turn it is))

The dust devil disperses with a rebellious hiss as Quest wills it away and rises unsteadily to his feet, for all his flopping about completely unharmed from the arduous battle.

"Filthy, dodgy little creatures," the revenant gibbers, stabbing a talon with quick jabs about himself to magically repel patches of dirt from his clothing and occasionally his allies nearby as they reveal themselves to his flickering eyes.

"No regard for history, clearly. Making their nests in a place like this. Regretful!"

Well, Quest got away without a scratch again while you lot were getting riddled with holes. No need to rest at all; will let the rest of you take the lead.

"Sirre Togorin!" Sariel answers to the rude rogue louder than those present have heard her before outside of her prayers.
"I do not know what sort of play you might think you are preforming but I will not stand for it against an unarmed creature!"

It seems that Sariel is intent on preventing another needless death.
"I had not wished to resort to this but I feel I need to remind you that I am to represent both Lords in this mission who have seen fit to offer you your precious bounty despite your involuntary recruitment and my word could make them reconsider that offer!"
The cleric is beginning to calm down now that she has made clear where she draws the line.

"...As much as I detest the fact that we will need to slay most of these kobolds to protect the local populous I refuse to let those that do not resist to be treated like filth as they are intelligent and sapient beings just as you and I so I will not stand for the cold blooded murder of a defenseless."
She pinches the bridge of her nose as she thinks for a moment.

"But if it may prove a more enticing incentive for you I believe it might be in my capacity to convince the Lords to consider awarding more for live captives to prosecute for their clan's crimes in court."
"If they would not then I would offer you a part of my reward instead.." She seems nervous all of a sudden, either she's ashamed to have to turn to bribery or she had plans for her pay.

"As for the answer to your question Sirre Agaton it would likely have been the original elven nobles who inhabited this keep or the kobolds that do now.
Perhaps both as the poison on these darts could not have remained this potent throughout the years unless it'd been strong enough to kill a man in moments with just a knifetip of it.

And yes Sirre Quest, the damage to this place and what is likely to lie ahead is regrettable but the past is sadly just that so I suggest we not linger too long before we become it as well."
With that bit of wisdom dispensed Sariel gets to dispensing suggestions to get the group back together in decent condition again.

"Sirre Togorin, could you aid Sirre Agaton? And Sirre Gri, could you perchance aid Miss Kiera whilst I tend to our captive-to-be?"
"I don't need any help." The huntress protests, her wounds and still closed eye contradicting her words.

[Sorry for all the talking but I should've responded earlier but I've got an appointment tomorrow and Wednesday and Thursday I'll be busy with practical again as with every coming week for a long time.]

Togorin coils back holding his sword away from the kobold and looses his tall posture. he nods and keeps nodding throughout everything Sariel says slowly backing away off of the elevated platform stuttering hushed 'yes ma'am's.

He droops his head and walks over to Agaton helps him to his feet. "Y-... Are you okay Agaton?"

"And I'm the mortal descendant of Pelor," Gri responds to the huntress' protests making his way over to the other doorway. As he moves he fishes out one of his spare shirts and quickly cuts it down into make shift bandages and a headband, offering them over. "To at least sop up the blood okay?"

Done with what little attempt at first aid he could, or dared, offer Gri makes his way back over to Sariel, this time pulling his bundle of rope from the side of his pack and placing it on the altar with one of his dagger. He gives the stand a visual once over as he does.

"As much as I'd like to assume he'd stay out of our way, probably best to tie him to something so he doesn't go alerting some of the other."

Moving off again, Gri moves over to the statue that had loaded a dart into him and leans his side against the wall next to it. Fishing about in his pack a third time, he produces a small cloth roll and unfurls it to reveal a rather seasoned set of picks. Standing on one leg and propped against the wall, Gri sets the tools on his raised knee and begin trying to work at the mechanism in the armor.

"Since your being agree able right now," he calls over to Togorin despite a mirror tool between his teeth, "how about covering the other side? When you're done with Aggy 'f course. Don't want to have to beat a hasty retreat and get riddle by these things again."

When he has the first taken care of, Gri continues down the western edge of the room, checking each of the statues and subsequently working at disarming any other dart traps.

My money is on the elves," Gri muses as he continues his work, all the triggers have been near the coffins after all."

"Ah, um right." Sariel replies to Togorin's answer, somewhat caught bit off-balance having expected more an argument out of the elf while Kiera takes the rags offered to her by Gri with a huff and starts bandaging her wounds with them herself.

When the rogue approaches the makeshift altar the kobold tries to make itself as small as it can behind it and looks just about ready to bolt when Gri draws his knife with Sariel trying to make a move to stop another possible act of aggression before the rogue just lays the blade down into the altar instead and starts looking the altar over.
Figuring out that the human looming above it is looking for valuables the kobold grabs a small pouch off the ground on it's side of the altar and almost throws it into the human's hands. It jingles with the sound of coins.

"I agree Sirre Gri but please leave the prisoner management to me. Now hold still for a moment." Sariel speaks up before pulling out the dart in his flesh before she gently pushes at the rogue's other shoulder to silently request his departure so she do her work, taking the rope and closing the distance to the kobold a bit before she kneels and begins talking to it in Draconic.

"Petranas majak svern. Sjek wux tir ti slathalin wux geou ti tepoha ekess l'gra ihk levnim de udoka. Si inglata coi."

[Nope, check below.]

Diplomacy, Take 10;
10+7= 17 vs 15; success.
After a while of nervously thinking the words over, it's eyes going from one thing to the next then back to Sariel and away again, the kobold hesitantly presents it's arms to the cleric.
"Vinxa." she says to it relieved before tying his arms up, cutting off the excess rope with the knife Gri provided as well.

Back with Gri who's working on the trap that put that dart into his shoulder, getting his revenge against it as he finds the firing mechanism and starts picking it apart inside of the armor's helmet.
The workings of it are quite complex and old but still functional though more through far more recent repair work and somewhat crudely made replacements.

A while of carefully repositioning parts to block or interfere with others later Gri is able to be confident enough in his work to say he's disabled the trap's firing mechanism.
Giving the other armor sets a quick once-over he's unable to find any similar traps on his side of the chamber.

Thievery;
28 vs 25; Success.

Perception;
9, 11, 12 vs ?; Failed.

After Checking the man for any serious wounds, plucking the darts from him, and bandaging him up, the elf helps him to his feet and steadies him. Togorin nods to Gri not saying anything and moves over to the trap he was working at moments ago, where he left his tools, and starts trying to disarm it again.

"Eh, just leave it then," Gri rolls his tools back up before stuffing them back in his pack, outer edge seems safe enough so if we stick to that they won't matter anyway."

The skulk makes his way back to the others, taking a moment to recover his daggers and gathering up their bounty pieces to add to the others. Stopping last at the fallen skirmisher he lifts up the dagger.

How about you take the sling then," Gri tosses the pouch of bullets over towards Agaton, "better than nothing."

"Quick breather I suppose," he moves over and leans his back against the feet of a nearby coffin, counting through the coin in the pouch, "I'm not the best for wear and neither is Kiera, no offense."

Agaton sheath his rapier and rejoins his allies,

he gladly takes the time the kobold discussion creates to rest,

walking past Gri, who tosses over a sling and ammunition bag,

which causes the fighter to flinch and almost drop them,

"Did ... not expect this. Thank you Gri I am sure it will help me out."

taking a seat next to the kobold he begins to busily munch away at one of his rations.

Agaton rests, uses a healing surge and eats one of his rations.

Togorin gives up on disarming the traps and instead casually wanders the room while they're all resting examining the coffins and walls for anything of value, careful to hop over the stones in the line of the darts. If he finds anything he will pocket them without saying anything but not necessarily hiding it from the group.

Preception check I suppose: 1d20+4 → [9,4] = (13) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4432881/)

"I agree sirre Gri but perhaps we should not hesitate for too long."
Tying the end of the remaining length of rope around the bindings constricting the captives arms Sariel forms a crude guide to lead the kobold with and ease re-capture should it try to run, returning the blade to Gri when he comes to collect it.

"Judging by our welcome into this chamber any opponents in the next one would be likely to try something similar now that they have been warned of our victory.
Any minute we linger to long is one we grant them to possibly strengthen their position."

Taking the scratched but still valid coins out of the pouch and stacking them Gri is able to make six stacks of 12 coins each, a small fortune of 72 in total.

The kobold backs away into the corner from Agaton when he approaches, Sariel keeping a loose hold on the lead but after a reassuring word from the cleric it calms down somewhat.

Sariel hands the fighter the lead as she leaves his side to preform some last rites for the deceased kobolds, apologizing to one of the slingers in particular as she takes it's sling and ammunition of which she stashes the latter in one of her pouches whilst hanging the other from it's belt, and retrieves the shield Agaton had dropped as well before lending her medical skills to the rest of the group.

"As much as I'd want to chase them down..Ah!..even I know it's a stupid idea to go in deeper without..Watch it!..without making sure we won't get attacked from behind."
Kiera isn't too fond of Sariel helping her without asking but let's her do her thing anyway as she replaces the poorly applied rags the huntress'd put on herself.
Still through it she manages to motion towards the metal double doors.

Quite a few bandages later, with the rags used to clean the blood, Kiera's looking a lot better even if one of her eye's is still bruised and swollen and a good chuck of her torso's now wrapped in white cloth.

"Not bad Sal, not bad!"
Looking herself over she can't help but give at least half a compliment to the eladrin though sneaking in a new nickname at the same time which the latter seems to miss for the moment, busy checking if her work is staying is place under the huntress' movement.
That or she's just ignoring it.

Togorin is unable to find any more of value in the room.

Quest dissolves the dirt off the bottom of each of his boots with small flashes of magic as he gingerly steps onto the platform he has created and sits himself down cross-legged.

With nothing to distract him any longer, Quest's burning pupils flicker their light briefly between the figures each of his resting allies.

"Going to take a quick look," the revenant mutters, making for an odd sight as he compels his disk to drift forward a short distance into corridor ahead.

Moving into the passageway through the rapidly fading dustcloud the first few in can see what became of the kobold that had managed to escape as they spot it prone at the bottom of the short and shallow set of stairs with a javelin sticking out the back of it's torso with two more nearby.

Beyond the corpse the opposite wall of the next chamber can be seen, not much further away then the last had been with a pair of torches shining light into the stairway.

Even though he's straining his ears to try and hear anything from around the corner and down the stairway Gri can't hear much more then the sounds of the things and people around him.
Flames ever so slowly devouring their wall-mounted food source, the breathing of his allies, the slight rustling of their armor.....the stench of the corpse at his feet as all it's muscles start relaxing...

Perception 20 vs ?.
[I get you intended to sneak forwards but without giving me a distance to work with I can't apply the possible penalty from moving too far.]

[I]"I mean no offense sirre Togorin but I highly doubt our enemies would fall for a tactic they are employing themselves." Sariel's referring to the dead kobold ahead as it's likely to have sprung the ambush of it's own allies.
"Nor do I believe miss Kiera is very fond of the idea of being volunteered herself."
Judging from the outright hostile glare the huntress is giving Togorin the tactless elf is not getting shoved down the stairs himself solely by virtue of being outside her immediate reach.

"Judging from how they have yet to make an attempt at approaching us they must be waiting for us in kind. Personally I would suggest delaying this attempt. Their guard is likely to falter as time passes and if they do not send a scout to confirm our presence we could possibly investigating that doorway." She points to the metal double doors near the coffins. "If it harbors more of their allies we'd be, as some say it, caught between a rock and a hard place."

"Need to find where they are!" Quest hisses desperately, squeezing past Togorin and Agaton on his disk and extending his lightless lantern towards the corpse in front of him.

The revenant tosses a hovering ball of light in the air above the corpse and creates a ghostly image forming around it to look like a more hideous version of his own imp. It bellows with an unearthly voice the words Quest whispers ferociously behind his tattered sleeve.

"I HAVE DISCOVERED YOUR ENEMIES, MASTER! SOON I WILL CONSUME THEIR SOULS TOO!" the image of the imp appears to scream as it raises it's claws and arcane lights play around it as if gathering magical energy.

Though he could not be called a moving shadow for his approach Quest doesn't really have to strain himself to pick up on a response as moments after his apparition appears two javelins and a sling bullet fly through it and strike the wall behind it.

[Triple 10 Initiative Roll. If there's anything to represent our party's joint bad luck with rolls, there it is.

[Yeah, 3 10's is rather surprising but I'd forgotten two things with the previous combat.

1.) Prepared actions like the ambush attacks so far put the ones behind those prepped actions one spot above the one that triggered the action in initiative.
2.) With equal initiative results the one with the higher Initiative modifier goes first.

I might as well roll for Sariel and Kiera now. 16 & 9 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4478373/).
So so far that makes it;

- Sariel,

Also, since technically Quest and the kobolds have had their turn the one after them will be the first to act which will probably be Kiera.]

Kiera is the first to respond after Quest forces his way to the front, and judging by the sounds, sets off the ambush that'd been waiting for them as she charging after and then past the revenant and it's illusion, stopping half a moment when she spots the latter before recognizing it as not-solid due to hafts of javelins stuck in the wall sticking through it, to the first thing to provide cover in the room, a badly damaged coffin with a small pile of cracked skulls stacked on top of it with more around it's base with 3 similar ones with similar cranial collections nearby around another goo pit carved into the floor.

The huntress spots her prey standing on higher ground across the room atop a platform they must've carved out of the original room's roof, judging by the rough cut of the ceiling and walls past 10 feet up.
Among them is a larger kobold garbed in metal armor instead of leather wielding a sword long for it's size but less so to the huntress as well as a sizable shield even for it's stature.

With her bandaged torso and bludgeoned face still stinging with what it's lesser comrades inflicted upon her Kiera is left unsure on how to gauge this new foes's resilience but sets an arrow flying towards it all the same to see how strong it proves to be which is proven to be less then what she'd feared as the projectile flies past it's defense and is left embedded deep into it's armor and flesh leaving it seeming far less threatening as blood seeps through.
It'd almost make her laugh if it wasn't for the fact that something seemed off about the setup of this room and why is one of the kobolds holding some sort of ball on a rope attached to the ceiling?

[Just to explain, the kobolds are on higher ground, 10 feet up, so I put up some vision blockers to prevent you guys from looking behind the doors and the higher ground.
Also the experimental gimmick I want to try here is enemy identification.

So far each time you guys attacked something I kinda spoiled what they and what their defenses were by having those revealed in the spoilered sections.
This time I'm going with unknown and estimates, for example; Kiera hit the 'Armored Kobold' with a 22 meaning it's AC is lower than that but how low is still unknown.
Also, for what it's worth I'm using that loose description until someone can figure out what it is with a knowledge roll to cut out another bit of metagame.]

Sariel is the second to recover from the unexpected launch into combat, reluctantly moving forward to the corner leading into the room, ready to act when needed.

I've opened up an OoC thread (link can be found in the first post of this thread) where I'm keeping the statistics of the party that was previously kept under spoilers at the end of major posts which I think I've mentioned before.
Other then that I want to ask two things of you guys.

1.) If you have any questions, opinions and others feel free to put them up there.

2.) I've continued work on transcribing the first half of the game back at TtBaD and as such read quite a bit of it again.
My question to you guys is; Do you guys think my writing has suffered since then?

Personally I think it has in a way as some of my work in there is a lot more 'flowery' to put it in a word.
Then again, I did put a lot of preparation and work in a lot of that area so maybe I need to slow things down with my posts and tinker with them for a few days before actually posting though having to do tactical work has gotten in the way of that.]

"What can ya do though, right?" Gri comments, having followed in behind Sariel rather quickly and striding in on Quest's other side, his question sounding rhetorical. Togorin, after hearing a commotion sprints up the stairs and steps out of the corridor. The elf takes a moment to glance around the room and assess the threats, including the pit. after the moment to gather his wits he peaks around and lobs a throwing knife at the kobold Agaton already targeted. The discarded sunrod does little to the already fully illuminated room other then draw a curious eye or two for a moment before they refocus on their opponents across the room though for the kobold in armor it matters little as the blade flung at it bounces off harmlessly after striking it's armor with the blunt hilt.

12 vs 9<?<22; Miss.

Though their leader obviously barks some orders around whilst raising it's shield to prepare for future attacks the most of the other kobolds stay in place except for one of the scrawny ones stepping forwards to throw a javelin at Agaton, hich hits but not that hard, before making a quick retreat down out of sight.

On the other platform another of those slinger kobolds winds up a shot and flings it at Kiera which ends up hitting the coffin instead, sending skulls and fragments of skulls flying, whilst a smaller one moves in next to it brandishing a javelin which it doesn't throw it yet though it looks ready to.

Quest locks his disconcerted, mad stare on the face of the skulk beside him suddenly, the first time it seems he has willingly made eye conduct with any member of the party. He leaps forward off of his disk and shuffles past his allies. A sound which seems to be choking at first, but rises into a completely unhinged rattling cackle forces itself out of the revenant's emaciated frame as he turns his expressionless visage towards the kobolds.

"How ridiculous. Your rocks and pointy sticks," Quest raises his arm at the nearest kobold, "The butcher's blades are on my side, for now. The terror of seeing your flesh torn asunder will be yours."

A nightmarish image of Gri, looming like an avatar of death with greatly exaggerated contours to the wicked blade in its hand appears before the kobold and bristles with a cloak made of blades as Quest tries to cut through the kobold's mind.

The faint phantom image of Dox fades, leaving only the orb of light without the wizard's imagination to sustain it.

[Woot! Thank you GitP admins for the update that added a restore function for autosaved work.
I had the first part of this ready but lost it when I closed my pc and was halfway through making a new worse description when I noticed the restore note.]

The kobold holding that ball thing sees Quest coming and throws it, arcing right into his anticipated path, almost interrupting the revenant's spell and striking him with enough force to send him rolling backwards from the unusually angled blow though the wizard manages to brace himself at the last moment, avoiding major injury.
Finishing his conjuration Quest finds his intended victim's mind prepared and able to fend of the illusion whilst the slinger on the other platform manages to catch the stone as it comes back from it's swing.

14 vs ?+2; Miss.

Seeing the rest pour into the open Kiera is conflicted on whether to move aside for them or not. On one hand she's in a great spot already, she's got something solid between herself and her prey while still having a good angle on all of them plus that weakling hiding next to the slinger is obviously eyeing her with that javelin at the ready but on the other she's part of a, admittedly ragtag, pack..for now.

Making her decision to play it safe the huntress pops out of her cover and quickly fires off two arrows, one at the kobold leader and one at the waiting for her or anyone else to get close the first of which goes wide by meters as Kiera releases it too soon sending into the skulls on the coffin sending more fragments flying as well.
Her second arrow however is driven straight through her hardly protected target, dropping it in one shot which isn't that much of an accomplishment with such a pathetic prey.

With the threat's corpse falling from the raised platform Kiera moves to the other coffin unimpeded.

Be it through a hidden natural affinity, a small divine favor or just sheer plain luck Agaton manages to thread the needle with his shot with it passing just over the edge of the kobold's shield and it's snout to strike it square between the eyes with the bone audibly cracking underneath it's helmet.
Screaming in pain it drops it's sword and shield as it grasps it's face with both claws.

20+2; Crit! Max damage.

Sariel can't help but flinch twice whilst keeping a look around the corner, first at Quest getting struck by the roped rock and again when the kobold leader voices it's agony.
Still, she knows it's going to be either them or her and her allies who'll walk away from this alive.

Moving past Togorin the cleric sprints across the room to the other side past Kiera as well to provide the enemy with more then just the winded ranger as a target though the prospect of possibly getting that rock thrown at her keeps her from moving past the cover of the coffin, as much as the skulls both worry and intrigue her. [Fell into a new timesink, some games I play are having special events going on.]

Again the blinded kobold manages to somehow escape further injury as the elf's blade is bounce off of it's armor.

Taking a moment to think about the tendencies of his enemy that Togorin can remember he recalls that kobold tribes have a very high birthrate and are quite skilled at mining and making traps so a lair's age would determine it's size as it's population would grow. As for where they keep their wealth it would likely be at either the lair of the dragon they follow, as they'd lay claim to anything the kobolds would find, or their sites of worship which are often the same place or at least near each other.

Where a tribe without a dragon to follow would hide it all away Togorin can only guess at. Either somewhere hidden if they had the time or somewhere secure.

The kobold leader recovers enough to bark a short command to the others before retreating back out of sight which was likely an order to keep attacking as that is just what the kobolds do whilst the leader can still be heard from behind the wooden doors though it doesn't sound like it's alone back there.

First the rock is thrown again at it's closest target, Sariel this time, who'd be impressed by how they keep angling the rock so that it can be caught on the other side if she didn't have to dodge it only to get struck hard in the chest by a dull javelin thrown by a kobold who'd come charging up to the battlements.

Agaton becomes the second target of the rock iat the offense of being closest to the kobold who caught it on it's way back and also gets a javelin thrown at him by another kobold coming up back into the fight but the fighter luckily manages to avoid the joint attack, in part due to terrible aim on behalf of his assailants.
The rock finally ends it's dangerous dance around the room when it is caught by the kobold who'd managed to hit Sariel.

With something between an eerie grin and a grimace still fixed to his otherwise expressionless face, Quest continues to press his way past the swordsmen.

"Chop! Chop! It stops hurting eventually," the revanent rattles off hideously towards his next target as he continues to throw bursts of mental energy forward. The monstrous image projected out of the kobold's mind vaguely resembles a devilish Togorin this time, sweeping vicious blade-like arms of shadow before it dissipates.

Quest's magic proves to much for the weak-willed kobold as it's mind is rend apart causing it to simply drop dead after a scream and a quick reach for it's head, releasing the stone to swing back and forth across the room lazily without a target.
Using it's victim's mind as a relay the spell's secondary effect sends a lesser image into the mind of the now deceased kobold's ally which it manages to shake off but the thin streak of blood coming from it's nostril marks the damage it's done.

17 vs 11; Hit, 5 damage.

Kiera is in part excited by seeing her prey flee but also angered by it's cowardice with a part of her telling her to force past the snubby elf in front of her and pursue her victim but then again if Sariel wants to be an living shield then let her. She will get to enjoy her kill sooner or later.

Rising from behind her cover and ignoring the pathetic runts off to her left the huntress takes aim at the only real target of any worth left in sight and then notches and releases two arrows one by one, both flying past their target but not without one leaving a good long bloody cut across the side of it's face.

Agaton puts his sling away, draws his rapier and charges the kobold straight ahead,

trying to slam him into the wall behind.

Charge attack against the kobold north from Agaton.

[Ok, this attack had to take some 3D thinking and with some discussion with Nuin I've come up with a somewhat logical route.

Technically Agaton can reach the kobolds on the ledge with an attack because he's over 6 feet tall and thus technically fills 2 stacked 3-dimensional blocks and since characters can attack any adjacent squares, or in this case blocks, he'd be able to hit the adjacent blocks above him.

Even if we'd just use his more accurate height of 6 feet the adjacent blocks would still reach 11 feet high, enough to cut at the kobold's ankles and though normally this should probably suffer a superior cover penalty due to being below the ledge since Agaton got a crit it's an auto-hit.]

With Agaton having had enough of the kobolds but with jumping onto the ledge being far outside his physical capability the fighter instead goes for a literal low blow as he rushes to the wall of the platform upon which they stand.
Kicking off from the floor to get a better angle Agaton lashes out at the feet of his victim before it can retreat away from the ledge, severing one of the limbs and sending the kobold to the floor while it's screams fill the chamber as it bleeds heavily from the gushing wound, critically wounded but not dead just yet.

20+7+1(Charge)= Crit! Max Damage, 12.

End Round 3.

Again Sariel flinches at the pain brought upon the enemy.

Attempting to atleast aid Sariel's attempts at trying to keep a few of the kobolds alive, Gri quickly changes his grip on his on hand dagger. His grip better suited for his attempt he throws the blade with just enough force to cause the bottom of the grip to connect instead of the blade should his aim line up. After his throw, the skulk quickly draws fresh weapons.

Togorin weaves through the ones infront of him and finds himself at the wall, which he tries to scale by using his momentum to move a few feet up the first wall and kick off onto the other, swinging his body to the upper-ground. "You heard her, pest." He spits at the kobold if he manages to actually reach the upper ground. slamming his blade into the kobold trying to push him off the ledge, keeping him alive.

[Sorry for the late post, there was a misunderstanding and my parents wanted to watch the Wold Dart Series and cut the internet connection because it intefered.
Also, on-going events in some online games I play that require framing have also taken quite the bite out of my time.]

Considering the fact that Gri threw his blade in an odd and unusual way and his good intention behind doing so he can't really be blamed for missing his target as it flies past it's target and ricochets off of the wall.

7+4= 11 vs 15; Miss.

Charging forwards Togorin leaps for the wall and manages to grab hold of the ledge and climb up it before stepping over the critically injured kobold to the next who he almost barely manages to avoid the hit from the rogue's hilt which lands hard enough to knock it straight out.
It is the fall afterwards as the elf shoves his limp form aside that spells it's doom as it hits the ground without anyway to brace itself with an audible crunch as the result.

Now on top of one of the walls that had blocked sight of the rest of the chamber Togorin finds the armored kobold again as well as it's reptilian reinforcements.

vs 15; Hit, Knockout. Slide 3 south.

At a barked command from their master the two green drakes charge up to Togorin, each about as large as his in size, and together nearly devour the elf alive, tearing numerous several inches deep bloody wounds into the elf's lower body with their vicious teeth as they bring him down to the ground together. Losing consciousness is a blessing to the rogue at this point.

The other remaining kobold decides to join it's leader as he retreats to a safer distance to watch the drakes deal with the intruders but before following the slinger hits Sariel with one of it's shots while it still has an angle on her.

Quest responds to the swordsman's collapse with the usual dignity afforded him, hissing colorful profanity in Supernal at the great reptiles while coming close to bludgeoning Agaton with his lantern hand as the revenant makes an exaggerated spell gesture intended to rip a blizzard from the elemental chaos right into the mundane plane through the body of one of the drakes.

The wizard scrambles forward into the flurry to stand over Togorin's fallen form, lantern rattling audibly in his hand. Dox flickers into invisibility on Quest's shoulder.

Whilst his elemental storm rages over heard, battering the drakes and digging shards of ice into their hides and finally silencing the prone kobold as well as covering the area, and the unconscious Togorin, in a thin layer of snow, Quest moves to the platform but finds his wiry limbs unable to get a good grip on the wall leaving him stranded below for now.

15+4= 19 vs 13; Hit, 16 damage.

Now with some real prey Kiera can't help but smile as she vaults over the edge of the coffin and jumps onto the next to get a better shot, sending skulls flying as she goes.
Determinant to bag herself the kill on at least one of these beasts the huntress puts all of her strength into her draw for her next two shots aimed at the closest of the two but the creature's hide proves too tough for her arrows leaving her frustrated at the waste of effort.

(Technically, in 3D, the drake would also have had a bit of cover from being on the stairs but it's a double miss already anyway.
May make some 3D papercraft models to help deal with determining that.)

Agaton grabs the limp Togorin's arm and pulls him down, almost knocking Quest down next to him, and catches him before carrying him over to Sariel, propping him up against the coffin so she can treat him.

Sariel would've been upset at Togorin for killing the kobold he had just knocked out but the fact that he himself is brought down shortly afterwards washes it away with worry about her ally.
When Agaton carries the elf over to her heart is filled with hope for his survival but fear floods in soon afterwards as she notices that there is no-one between the drakes and the frail Quest.

Torn between attending one of her allies and defending the other her mind races for an option, which she finds. Remorsefully stepping away from where the fighter put down her patient she begins softly chanting as light begins to gather around her whole being.

When the aura is at it's brightest she releases it with a shout. "Ioun, master of knowledge and prophecy, sap my foes and strengthen my allies so that we may discover the truth."
The light bursts from her, washing over friend and foe alike, knitting flesh together when crossing the first and bearing down on the latter whilst some of the light swarms back to the cleric's holy symbol, basking it in a veil of light.

With her spell finished Sariel continues with another healing spell to make sure Togorin is far away from the Raven Queen's grasp, sealing his wounds and bringing him back to consciousness, before vanishing in a flash and re-appearing between the drakes and the mage below, gathering her power one more time to strike one of the beasts with her empowered mace to improve her chance at surviving their retaliation.

Relieved at Sariel's timely prayers coming to Togorin's aid Gri manages to catch the invective on his tongue before noticing the priestess' poor position in a potential pincer. Moving quickly to prevent the movement the skulk sheathes his throwing blade before sprinting up to the wall in an effort to jump up to and grab the ledge so as to pull himself into the melee and slash at the left most drake. Though given the jump and climb required to reach his position he readies to fall back to his starting point to instead throw his in hand blade.

Seeing Sariel's blow strike true against the prone drake Gri moves in desperation moments before feeling the curative magic wash over him yet again. Hoping to capitalize on the wound Sariel inflicted he thrusts his dagger in as the cleric pulls back her mace, giving the thrust a quick twisting motion to help further aggravate the wound for a moment longer before the beast can attempt to pull itself from Agaton's hold and get back on its feet. As he starts to feel Sariel's prayer close the rather large bite he had received, Gri's adrenaline subsides a bit, affording the skulk a moment to asses the skirmish and quickly step over the fallen drake to allow Togorin the chance to get into the melee and ready his short sword.

Remaining miraculously uninjured after another chaotic battle, Quest's battle madness fades and his darting pupils finally focus on the bleeding and exhausted forms of his comrades.

"...I hope you don't find this imprudent to say..." the revenant comments with a slight nod to the still-bleeding Sariel, and some regard for everyone else who seems to have suffered enough wounds to kill a man several times over, except for the constant stream of divine magic being pumped through them by the holy warrior, "...but it's very strange for me not to be left to distract the monsters at this point."

Quest wraps his stunted tail around his feet as he huddles against the stone, rekindling the magic light in his lantern.

"I remember, you know...back when my blood still ran warm...I felt happiness at least once. I don't think I can, anymore. Not truly. But I remember I felt that way. Right now, it comes to mind...When we follow after the vermin...I could tolerate standing in the front for a little while."

I assume we will be taking a short rest to let our near-death heal and encounter powers reset. Quest does not need to spend any healing surges, of course.

Nearly collapsing to them anyway Sariel lowers herself to a knee as she answers down to the revenant and starts tending to her own wounds.
"Your offer is appreciated sirre Quest but another would have called it a foolish one."

"I mean no offense but you wear no real effective armor to protect yourself and.." She glances down at the wiry mage for a moment with her full blue eyes, . "..do not have the physique to endure a prolonged coordinated attack." Somehow that statement sounds more downputting then she probably meant to. "And please, I may not know why you think we would use you in such a way but know the thought is misguided."

The tone of conviction in her voice as she applies bandages and magic makes it hard to think she'd be lying. "Even though you may not seem alive you and our..." She hesitates for a moment. "...enemies are both living, breathing and thinking beings who deserve the opportunity to live and that is why I have attempted to spare at least a few of them sirre Quest."

Finishing up her self-treatment the cleric checks her nearby allies, applying aid where needed, before respectfully preforming simple rites of passage for the fallen kobolds.

With a sigh she continues voicing her thoughts. "I know mercy is a virtue that is rarely received from such a less fortunate species but like our own ancestors I believe that we may one day be able to tolerate each other and live together as long as someone is willing to extend a hand to help and another is willing to accept it, as often as that hand might end up getting bitten."

Life can be a bitch to handle.

With a solid thud Agatons body ends up on the ground, his arms and legs stretched out,

exhausted from the fight. He listen halfway to what Quest and Sariel are discussing.

"Sariel is right Quest, you're helping us out enough, so don't get yourself bitten."

He shuffles around, turning his head, Looking for Kiera.

"Hey! Kiera can you make a stew out of those Drakes because I could use a good and solid meal. Hah how we are Looking we all could use a meal and some rest."

Quest's intense stare traces back and forth over the battle worn forms of the two warriors with what might be a hint of skepticism, but the revenant expresses no further resolve to be placed into harm's way.

"Hmm...reptile meat may be soaked in salt water or tomato pulp to mitigate bitterness...I wonder if these are elven antiques," Quest muses, picking up the three gem stones scattered on the floor with a conjured mage hand.

After Togorin sees that the last monster is dead with a few prods of his sword he sits on the edge of the ledge mumbling to himself quietly as he usualy did alone in his home, not really finding it unusual to do as he cleans his weapons of blood and watches the other go about doing things.

"I'd second a rest," Gri chimes in, taking a moment to clean and store his throwing knife and keeping his dagger out to tend to gathering tails. The skulk takes his time with the task, giving his body time to attempt to work out the strain it had been put through as well as attempting to check to see if any of the currently incapacitated kobolds might survive, attempting, if rather poorly, to help them pull through and pointing them out to Sariel, starting with the platform he was currently on before sliding down the wall back to the main chamber and quickly scaling back up the wall to the other platform.

"They're right," Gri talks as he tends to his self appointed task, "best you stay well away from melee, your spells likely won't be much help if you get outflanked. We don't want anyone here turning into a tasty distraction after all, poor teamwork dynamic."

given the climb dc was beaten by my previous poor roll of base 9 I can likely assume an 18(taking 10+athletics 8) should be enough to get up and down the walls.

[There might be a delay before I can get to work on the next post since my pc's suffered a catastrophic crash and just refused to boot up again.
I've managed to re-install Windows 7 but I've had enough with having to re-install everything again so I'm trying to restore my old stuff (including MapTool and the map) by switching around the windows files with the windows.old ones.

I think it is possible as I've seen people asking about it online eventhough my attempts so far have failed.]

Going across the kobolds Gri manages to find that the last to fall is still alive and manages to bind it's wounds as best he can before Sariel takes over, having come down the stairs and opened the doors between the raised areas which appear to have been blocked by an improvised barricade of salvaged planks.
Now alive but still unconscious the kobold is likely to keep on living for a while but even with the healer's skill and magic that will be a long while before even it wakes up and even longer before it'll fully recover though regrettably the others never will as they're too far gone.

Finally climbing up on the platform Kiera's first action up top is to scan the area and keeps her bow drawn and aimed at the doors across from her before answering the figher's suggestion.
"I don't know about you Aggy but I didn't bring much wood to make a fire and I'm sure as the Nine Hells not going to burn my bow for a meal. We're also missing a pot for that aren't we though if you had a helmet that would've been good enough." She's not sounding particularly snide but enough so to make it clear she thinks it's a dumb idea.

Due to drakes and other reptilian animals being common in many places there have been those that have taken to eating their flesh with varying results.
There have been those that fell ill and died afterwards though it's said by those that survived and those that didn't get sick from it that it tasted like the average farm-chicken but still rather bland.
Seasoning and caution are both advised.

I think the main problem we're having with this is that no-one wants to initiate moving along.]

Rested and prepared the group moves into position near the doors leading deeper into the lair of the kobolds except for the ranger who stays perched on the higher ground with her bow still aimed and drawn at the same doors.

[It's a little non-ideal for my character to initiate all of the time and I don't want to hog the character acting spotlight all the time, so I've been holding back...

That being said, I don't mind Quest going full-blown into madness every time from nervous inactivity if we need that to keep things moving along. I will leave that to the discretion of my party members to act before I do, but if we don't start getting some scouts or vanguards out from room to room in the next couple of days, I will inject some volatile motion into the situation.]

As the tension builds again while the group prepares to enter, Quest's restlessness begins to make itself apparent as he runs out of filth stains in his immediate vicinity to magic clean. A chirrup from the imp on his shoulder seems to startle to revenant into action and he leaps forward to shove open the door, covering his eyes with one hand as he does and peeking through the talons.

Hillyan
2014-12-10, 02:26 PM
The revenant rushes forwards, driven by mad visions unknown, enters the next room.
At first glance it seems empty from what is visible but the nervous muttering and scraping betrays the kobolds' hidden presence.

[Maybe I'm a bit too quick with this or far too late but I think we can all see that this campaign's either dying or going into hibernation.

So, should we call it quits? And why?]

Hillyan
2015-01-02, 01:40 PM
Ok then, I'm making it official. This campaign is dead. I don't know what to say but things've just gone too slow to try and continue this.
I'm not going to blame anyone, it's just sad that I never got to use the ideas I had planned for after this first dungeon which would have included a timeskip to work things out since the old keep would be renovated as the headquarters of a regional alliance to keep the area safe.

It is sad things have run their course here but I think I can say I learned at least a few things from this like keeping spare npc's at hand and the need to keep better track of things as well as keeping the house-rules to a minimum and to keep good track of the few that are in play.

I'm not sure if I'll host new games here or anywhere else since I've got a lot of things going but at least I can say I had fun with this.
