Question: Can you get two animal companions of your ECL using the Mad Dog archetype (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/barbarian/archetypes/paizo---barbarian-archetypes/mad-dog) for barbarian, a level 1 druid (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/) dip, and the boon companion feat (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/boon-companion)?

General answer: Maybe 1, maybe 2.
Short answer for you: They will probably stack, so you may only have 1 companion.

Long answer:
See this FAQ (http://paizo.com/paizo/faq/v5748nruor1fn#v5748eaic9qqn)

It is possible to have multiple companions, but one of them must be exclusive to at least one of your classes. As both the Mad Dog AND Druid have unrestricted choices, they will stack and you will only have one companion.
There are certain archetypes of Druid that will allow you to have multiple however. Pack Lord (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo---druid-archetypes/pack-lord) is the most obvious one (do note, that Pack Lord has little to do directly with the above FAQ ruling).

Final answer: Go bother your DM, cause this gets complicated pretty quick.

Also, keep in mind that Boon Companion will keep your secondary companion up to par for a little while, but by the mid levels its usefulness is going to drop off, and soon it'll become a liability instead.
