Shadowcraft mage on the Shadow Plane

I just realized that shadow descriptor and illusion (shadow subschool) essentially is two different spell aspects - however the shadow plane trait seems very specific, that it's only spells with the shadow descriptor that are maximized.

So is it correctly understood that f.x. a Shadow Evocation spell would not be maximized?
