The only reference I'm seeing to a 'changeling trick' ability is here (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Changelings_%283.5e_Race%29). If that is what you're referring to, you'll have to ask the author, because that's entirely homebrew. There is an official Changeling race in Monster Manual 3 and in the Eberron books, but its shapechanging ability is different.

I believe that it's also an ability of the Changeling race in 4E; if that is the subject of discussion, this question would probably be better asked in the 4E forum. Does 4E even do Ex/Su abilities?

"Changeling trick", to me, clearly refers to the signature ability of the Changeling race, namely, the ability to take on the appearance and physical form of other humanoids. So the OP is asking whether that ability is (Ex) or (Su).

In which case the Minor Shape Change ability is clearly marked as a Supernatural ability (see e.g. Eberron Campaign Setting, p. 13).
