I found it on the PFSRD but its from the paizo forums.

I might use this in a gestalt game, what do you recommend?
Melee focused but with spellcasting as a fallback.

While not as powerful as a full WItch, it still get 9th level spells that cvan be switched out on a daily basis.

SO IMO this Archetype for the witch brings it down to 'tier' 2 , albeit a high 'tier' 2

SO yes.. it is still good..

Though somewhere on the pfsrd site is a 3rd party Warlock that did a darn good job of porting the 3.5 warlock over to the pathfidner ruleset. WHile not as powerful as this version of the witch. it still actually pretty solid of a class.

I have seen that one. To be honest I don't see a resemblance in the original Warlock.

It has no EB it has no invocations, its not a 'spellcaster' technically speaking it uses Spell like abilities as at will abilities.

You need to invest one of your starting School Abilities just to get an EB like ability. It also says you learn Cantrips but it has no spell list and does not specify which list to use.

Not to mention they are kinda vague on how the school system works.

EDIT: How does it drop it to tier 2? The spellbook can still function like a Wizards, you get reduced casting but at lvl 20 the Warlock would get 3 spells in each spell level.

It is definitely a solid option, the essences and shapes got a major boost in power from 3.5 and the saves scale now. Plus there aren't any dead levels now.
If melee is what you want and 3rd party material is allowed on Paizo. I would suggest the Mighty Godling to be gestalted with this.

1. It isn't irredeemable but it has mismatched and lacking flavor. You can have a free companion but it really doesn't scale until you can get a new one at a really high level. You can get a few stat bonuses, dispel, and some interesting side abilities but mechanically spells are superior. Also while it can do some interestings all the time it doesn't have any specialty making it very easy to drop in an unplayable category over time.
2. It doesn't drop it a tier.

I am familiar with the godlings I have played one before, they have very interesting abilities. Trophy Taker can be fun if you limit it to common sense.

A Samurai is a decent choice as it trades a teamwork feats for shrugging off effects while still being like a Cavalier.
