[3.X] Any way to optimize Elemental Companions?

Any way? I mean, having an Earth elemental companion looks awesome, but any way to optimize? Is it worth not upgrading in size to get him HDs? Or feats/spells to improve it?

It's better to get the bigger elementals and I would get an earth elemental because they have earthglide and power attack, which is cool.

There's rally not much optimization you can do. The elementals gain feats, so you can specialize there. Charging is probably best, though Spring Attack can be useful when paired with Earth Glide. Sadly, things like Augment Summoning, Augment Elemental and the like only apply to summons, which his earth elemental (I assume from your previous thread) is not. Grab some Str items, and go to town? Treat it as a low feat fighter (samurai?) and you're right on track.

Awesome Blow and Large and in Charge should be top feat priorities.
Shock Trooper + Martial Study (Minotaur Charge) for hardcore bullrushing.
They have Humanoid Shape and an Int of 4-8 so they can use Magic Items and Consumables.

Simple PHB2 Feat retraining should do it and won't cost 1000 XP + 2 7th level spell slots.
