Being new to the forum I decided thatI needed to make myself an Avatar like everyone else has. The only tool I had onhand was MS Paint. The result I got was better then I thought it would be but a lot worse then I thought it would be. Another problem I had was taking the big piece of stick figure art I had made and resizing it to be avatar sized. Comments? Suggestions?http://img289.imageshack.us/img289/9814/geomancerlj4.png

The one thing I was really proud of is the magic for the geomancer picture. Only real men cast spells in pink.

according to your last sentence, V is a man. :smalltongue:

I recommend getting sodipodi/inkscape/adobeillustrator if you want to continue drawing oots avatars. There are guides for each the "guide to making avatars in adobe illustrator". The guides AI and sodipodi are in the first page. The guide for inkscape is a few pages in.

Oh, and put large pictures in a "spoiler" tag.

Do that by:

*insert large pictures, and real spoilers if you want*

and use real "o's" instead of zeros

Are any of those programs free? EDIT:Nevermind Inkscape is.

All the programs are free except adobe illustrator, which is more than 200$ but is alot more advanced.

There are guides on how to install both sodipodi and inkscape. Sodipodi works quite well, I use it

And me! So that's probably enough evidence to prove that you actually have to be as good as Mr_Saturn to make anything look good, but yeah, Inkscape and sodipodi are the ones to use if you want free.

Sodipodi and inkscape are the best. I use inkscape, but There's nothing wrong with sodipodi.

(inkscape @ www.inkscape.org (http://www.inkscape.org). Requires windows XP.)

Those must be the best avatars ive seen that are made in Paint. I use inkscape, but i stink at drawing with mice. i'm thinking about getting a tablet...

to you.

thats because you dont know how to install it. did you install the gtk runtime envormient and copied/renamed 2 dll files?? if not thats why it isnt working. sodipodi isnt a normal install.

and back to what i was going to say.

i use sodipodi to but im not nearly as good as dis or mr.saturn.

My god...I got mentioned...That's not right...But yeah...Inkscape is actually a more advanced version of sodipodi. Sodipodi is nice and simple, hence why I use it...

But you're not that bad. When I started I was a whole heap worse than you are.
