So, I'm reading through the thread for the Pathfinder Advanced Classes Guide Playtest thread and I have to agree with the following quote:
A great deal of the class features and such really do feel like just identical copies of existing classes. I suppose the idea of having some mixed-class classes isn't bad, but isn't that what archetypes were designed to do for a great part? With all the crazy, elaborate and interesting homebrew classes I've seen its hard to be excited for many of these.
So, I want to pose the following question to my fellow homebrewers: If you were to replace the existing Pathfinder classes with 3.5 or PF homebrewed ones from this subforum's community, which would you select?
Now, we need some clarifications for this exercises:
The suggested classes must full-on replace the niche/concept/archetype that the class originally fulfilled (i.e., you can't just grab a fighter or monk fix to "replace" the existing fighter or monk).
The suggested classes must be completely self-contained. If it runs off a completely new subsystem, it must be completely explained and the class completely usable just by itself.
Any existing subsystems are fine, but bonus points are given if Tome of Battle isn't just used to fill up all the mundane slots or magic/psionics isn't used to make mundanes viable.
Try to shoot for Tier 3 for all classes if possible. It's alright to dip up to Tier 2 or down to Tier 4, but try not to wander further.
