For aeons there was cold, cold ruled over the world. The permanent phases of the night ruled the lands. They subjugated mortals since time immoral.

Then one day there came the Ignis equiti, and with them came fire. They brought hope to the mortals of the world. Together the Ignis equiti and there mortal champions the Ignis vinctum marched against The permanent phases of the night, with there combined might they pushed there foe back towards the midnight fringes .

Now that the Ignis equiti had gained ground they built the great city of urbis incendio on the border of the midnight forest. To separate the two they also built the wall of tenebris lapidem and the wall of et cinis cineris.

For a thousand years there was relative pace in urbis incendio, until the permanent phases of the night marched from the midnight fringes with a war host of demons. They shattered tenebris lapidem using demoned catapults and they pored into urbis incendio to clash with the Ignis equiti and Ignis vinctum. The war lasted for two thousand years and end with billions of demonds dead and The permanent phases of the night exhausted, but the Ignis equiti layad entombed in the chapel of the white flame and there mortal heroes lay dead, broken or exhausted. Those that still lived were collected and taken to the midnight fringes and placed in the darked cells.

You have sat there for aeons awaiting you're fate.

This is you're story of escape and journey to the wall.

If any of this wasn't clear just ask.

Posting interest. I take the small amount of backround information as an invitation to come up with our own fluff? Ie you ask for race but don't specify races in the backround, which I interpret as freedom to create our own races.

Also, what are the rules for PvP, godmode ect? How magic-heavy is the setting? Are there any specifics about the mortals heroes (ranks and common powers) that could be helpful with character creation?

@Everyone but DM: I believe (Smoke Prism can correct me if I'm wrong), that this is meant to be more of a story and less of a "game." Think of it as a collaborative writing effort. There are few (if any) hard-and-fast rules, and the objective is to forge a narrative with the characters we create.

In order:

1) I'm looking for players to add to the setting. It is very bare bones at the moment and the more you add the less stress it puts on me.

2) I stress that PVP be planned out before hand. But I hope it doesn't come to that.

God modding is a sure fire way to have that character rejected. So no invincibility, unavoidable attacks, transforming into dragons ect. Coalfield and fatigue doesn't of set the ability.

3)Universal traits:
Extended lifespan: You have been a prisoner in the dark cells for meany aeons.

Rudimentary pyromancey: Due to your connection to fire you can control flames without training.

4) That's correct. You are working with me and the other players to build and explore a world of Wounder and danger. So I'm looking for good, levelheaded and imaginative story tellers.

Very good. I shall submit the first character.

Name: Iaasuous Vla Dormit Sccan

Appearance: A tall, male Iniad (see race) with shoulder-length Cerulean hair. He almost always wears brown clothing, often with a cape. He has a noble bearing and not unattractive face.

Equipment: He had a black-iron spear forged in dragonfire, but it was confiscated on his capture, as was his Lethoxn hide armor and trail pack. The only thing he kept was his worn phoenix-feather cape, which while stylish and fireproof provides no defense against the cold-based magic of the Permanent Phases of the Night.

Race: Iniad. Iniads are one of the mixed-breed races, and depending on clan have varying amounts of Dragon blood, Human blood, Ignis blood, Cave Scion blood and even the cursed black vascular fluid of the Permanent Phases of the Night (Some experts are sceptical that the Phases can reproduce, and believe the blood originates from some foul demonic experiment). The latter type are highly mistrusted, despite the fact that the Permanent Phases of the Night have demonstrated no interest in helping or accepting their unlucky progeny. Such is the parental care of beings of pure cold and darkness.

All Iniads are of pale skin with a slight, almost imperceptible yellow tint. They usually have brightly colored hair, with red and blue being the most common shades. They range from six to seven feet tall when fully grown, with females averaging on the tall end and males being shorter and broader. The exception are males from the Dormit clan, who can be up to eight feet in height, and tower over all other Iniad male and female.

Each Iniad has four names; The first is chosen by their parents, while the second and third are the clan names of each parent (mother first, father second). Many Iniad's second and third names are the same, due to same-clan marriage. The fourth name is chosen by the Iniad at his comming of age ceremony. Iniads with more than ten percent Permanent Phases of the Night blood are assigned a fifth name denoting their level of taint. Concealing a fifth name is a capital crime in many clans, and almost all non-Iniad nations (who trust the Night-Blooded even less).

The typical natural lifespan of an Iniad is eighty years for females, and one hundred and thirty for males. The source of this massive discrepancy has been sought after for centuries with no conclusive results.

Abilities: Extended Lifespan, Rudimentary Pyromancy, Advanced Pyromancy, Rudimentary Political Training, Master Swordsmanship, Rudimentary War Strategy, Rudimentary Dragon Riding, Rudimentary Stealth Techniques, Rudimentary Cryromancy, Peerless Spear Fighting, Master Oratory.

Weaknesses: Lacks Master or Peerless level magic, lacks ranged capability, has very little strength in political and social situations, honor code can be exploited.

Alignment: Chaotic Good, but has a personal code of honor that he sticks to rigidly. However, this code covers only a small percentage of situations (mainly dealing with promises and treatment of long-time comrades), so it does not have a large effect on his generally chaotic tendencies.

Motivation: In order: Desire to honor his fallen warriors by defeating the enemy that killed them, desire to follow his personal code of honor, love of his race, general chaotic tendencies, general good tendencies, desire for a soul-mate.

Associates: All his close friends are dead or missing, he has a passing aquaintence with his fellow prisoners gained over several temporary lapses in the centuries of solitary confinement.

Background: Will cover in more detail later. Or maybe not cover it, and expand as we go along. Haven't decided yet.

Well, how does it look? Power level, fluff, ect.

BTW, anyone can feel free to use Iniad as their race.

I like stories.

Appearance: Moderate height, thin. Long, black hair. Eerily pale, blue eyes. Very pale skin, even more than can be expected from one who has spent centuries underground. If one looks hard enough, beneath the skin, what at first appears to be blood vessels, red and blue lines writhe and pulsate with arcane power.

Equipment: A longsword of wootz steel, forged from the heart of a fallen star. Two double-sided knives, made from a spell-forged magical conductor core, and capped in wolfram. Both knives can also be dismantled into two blades and thrown. Ablative, dragon-hide armor that would have covered most her body.

Her arms and armor were confiscated at the time of her capture, so she currently wears a scarlet-and-black corset, skirt, and boots. A white lined cloak (reminiscent of a shadowy spiderweb) is wrapped around her body.

Race: Human .

Maybe.

(extraplanar demigod soul monster cybernetic jem'hadar golem)
Though imprisoned with other warriors of flame, the exact circumstances of her capture are unknown. Her apparent disregard for the chill, and physical atunement to the cold and dark have led many to believe she is native to this realm. Coupled with many strange behaviors, and unique relationship with their guards, it is speculated she is some sort of Ice Demoness summoned, or even created by the nocturnal legions.

Abilities:
Functionally immortal-Would live forever if left alone, but can be killed.
Armed combat-Extremely skilled with swords and knives, among the highest levels of fighters in the world, for sport or combat.
Magic-Very skilled with arcane casting, be it with modern elemental (Air, Water, Earth, Fire) or the nigh-forgotten ancient magiks (Smoke, Shadow Blood, Ice). Especially powerful with Fire and Ice.
Arcane Attunement- Large uses of magic create a disturbance in the fabric of the plane, and sufficiently large discharges can be felt by the most rudimentary mages. Nemo's magic is so advanced she can determine the location, power, nature, etc. of the smallest burst of energy.
Hunter (or Hunted)-Can track a ghost-cat through rain, or hide from a pack of hounds in a muddy field.
Animal Empathy-Communicates with many manner of more intelligent beasts, such as dragons or jotunn. She can ride them like a war mount, or command a pack to attack her enemies.
Weaknesses:
Lacks skill in non-combat magics when not directly affiliated with an element.
Not very strong physically, relies on agility, skill, and preemptive strikes to win fights.
Tends to ignore possible enemies if they do not pose an immediate threat to her or her purpose.
Does not play well with others. Mistrustful of strangers (and people she knows), and works best alone.
Without direct, specific orders, from an authority she recognizes, she does not take action that could gain her or her allies an advantage.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral. Disregards existing laws and rules, but follows some severely specific, secret orders given to her long ago. Will not go out of her way to hurt or help someone, but will if she thinks it will further her cause.

Motivation: "some severely specific, secret orders"
Is not concerned with petty matters like "getting out of prison" or "not get shanked for your daily tiny hunk of bread". Nemo would like to get out of prison and finish her task, but is patient enough to simply wait for the right opportunity.

Though she does not make friends easily, she values her allies highly, and will go to lengths to keep them safe.

Associates: A few prominent members of the prison hierarchy consider her their "friend". Whether this is from genuine admiration, sexual favors, or secret threats of physical violence remains to be seen.

Background: It is unknown where she comes form, but she does say she served the Ignis Equiti at the end of the fighting. She was a deep infiltration scout/spy, working far behind enemy lines. Some speculate she is a triple agent, actually working for the Permanent Phases of Night, undercover as a defector, then captured again and now an employee of the prison, spying on the other inmates. Some say nay, she was betrayed by the Permanent Phases, or raped by her commanding officer, or found some higher purpose, and really did defect to the Ignis. A few ever say she was commissioned by the Ignis Vinctum, created in a laboratory far to the west, a superweapon with the powers of Fire and Ice, designed to be superior to the best soldiers of both sides.
Others say she is merely misunderstood and her rainy soul miasma is only due to some heartbreaking betrayal in her past. They think that all she needs to be Good is someone to love her (this is untrue).

She continues to deny all allegations.

Updates: Added history of the Iniad, ability description, and backstory.

The Iniad trace their origin to a alliance of outcast half-breeds formed some 20000 years before the arrival of the Ignis equiti. As the alliance struggled for survival, half-dragon, Demi-Phase, abnormal humans and elder cavefolk intermarried and produced "mutts" of no distinguishable race. These mutts breed among themselves and became a new race: the Iniad.

There were few Iniad at the coming of the Ignis equiti, but with longer lifespans than other humanoids they were better able to take advantage of the age of prosperity the Ignis brought. The Iniad multiplied a thousandfold, and split into several clans.

Abilities: Extended Lifespan: Iaasuous has lived 50 times the lifespan of an Iniad, and is almost as strong as he was in his prime.
Rudimentary Pyromancy: Do to his status as a mortal hero of the Ignis, he can control flames without training
Advanced Pyromancy: he has studied and practiced pyromancy, and has developed more skill with fire magic.
Rudimentary Political Training: Iaasuous has been trained in the ways of court and political maneuvering.
Master Swordsmanship: even without his favored weapon, he is among the best of the best in terms of melee combat.
Rudimentary War Strategy: he understands the ins and outs of tactics and strategy, but is no military genius.
Rudimentary Dragon Riding: Iaasuous can ride dragons and fight from dragon back without prenatal as long as the dragon does not perform any complex maneuvers
Rudimentary Stealth Techniques: he knows how to hide and move silently.
Rudimentary Cryromancy: he has studied forbidden texts collected by the librarians of clan Vla, and knows methods for awakening the dark forces in his blood. Iaasuous can tap the blood of the Permanent Phases of the Night to harness cold magic.
Peerless Spear Fighting: In his prime (aka before being locked up for a few thousand years), there was no mortal living or deceased that could match Iaasuous's skill with the spear and the combat styles associated with said weapon. Even now the are precious few mortals that can stand in his way when he wields his favored weapon.
Master Oratory: Iaasuous is a inspiring speaker, and given time to prepare can craft masterful speeches. During the war against the permanent phases of the night he was often called upon to speak before a great battle and inspire the troops.

Weaknesses: Vulnerable to ranged attacks. While Iaasuous could wade through a thousand sword-mooks without fearing for his life, a half dozen bowmen with a clear field of fire will end him in under a minute. He can fight at range with pyromancy, but doing so wastes his best skill-set. Flying opponents can also give him trouble.
Vulnerable to high magic. While Iaasuous is more than a match for your average college-graduate wizard, more talented mages can overwhelm his defenses. Why do you think he has a Phoenix feather cloak?
Lack of social skills: He was never much for socializing back in the old days, and has been in solitary for thousands of years.
Honor Code: this has four tenets. Never break your word, never abandon a friend, reward those who are loyal to you, and punish those who break the first three. Obviously, this can be exploited by a clever foe. (Note: Iaasuous WILL break the code if keeping it will violate his oath to honor the sacrifice of his followers and friends that were killed in the war against the permanent phases of the night. Other than that, he will always attempt to keep it).

Associates: All his close friends are dead or missing, he has a passing aquaintence with his fellow prisoners gained over several temporary lapses in the millennia of solitary confinement.

Background: Iaasuous Vla Dormit was born to noble parents shortly after the formation of the clans. His parents raised him to be a politician, but before coming of age his incredible skill at arms was noticed by the Ignis equiti. At his coming of age ceremony he chose the name Scann, a contraction of Scaros Tathann, meaning "spear lord." The elders at first refused to grant him such a name, believing it to be hubris, until he defeated all of them in ritual combat. With one hand tied behind his back.

He served the Ignis equiti for many centuries, growing in skill with arms and magic, and when the war with the Permanent Phases of the Night came he and his personal guard were in the vanguard. During the battle he fought one of the Permanent Phases of the Night and was struck down. His guard and several mortal heroes died defending his fallen body, and when he woke he swore that their sacrifice would be honored at any cost. Shortly thereafter he was captured.

Appearance The tall man grins at you, displaying golden fangs in a face the color of flame, and silver hair. His eyes, however, remain watchful and alert. Though he wears rags, you can easily imagine him in silk robes. He has a hole through each hand, each surrounded by runes and mystic seals. As you stare, his form shimmers, replaced by a pitiful waif, shivering with cold. The holes, however, remain, one is a black void, the other glowing brightly, shining off his prison walls.
Equipment None. He was stripped of everything save the rags on his back.
Race. Efreet. The Efreet serve the Ignis, acting as warriors, servants, and everything else they were needed to be. Efreet place great importance on oaths, to the point were breaking one causes physical pain. They have natural power with illusion and fire, and can fly. Iron causes extreme pain to them.
They live in a clan based society, the leaders of the clan being the oldest. The leaders are replaced every 100 years, in ceremonial duels.
Efreet live forever, unless they fall to illness or violence. However, prolonged exposure to iron causes them to lose their immortality. Sadly, this happens to most, because iron is so widely used.
Age. Kartheos is 259.
Abilities.Kartheos can fly, and has complete control over fire. He however, can not summon it, but can amplify or reduce existing flame. He can create intensely realistic illusions. The dark hole in his hand gives him power over void and cold, while the light gives him power over light and fire( much greater then his natural ability)
Weaknesses Iron harms Kartheos and dispels his power. Also, to use the holes in his hands causes intense physical and mental pain, and prolonged use leads to insanity, then death.
Motivation. Kartheos places great value on his freedom, as well as his life. Also, his iron cell is slowly poisoning him. This imprisonment is doing neither of theses things he values good. He also seeks vengeance on both the Ignis and the Reaches of night.
Alignment.chaotic neutral.
Associates His cellmates.
Background Kartheos hated serving the Ignis, as he hates serving anyone. When the reaches of night attacked, the Ignis gave him the glowing hole in his hand, and told him to infiltrate the Reaches. He promptly turned traitor, and joined the Reaches, who empowered him with the void hole. When he was discovered by both forces, he was outcast from both. He wandered for a month or so, before the Reaches captured and imprisoned him, sealing the holes in his hands. They intended to kill him, but rather let him live in an iron cell. He would prefer to be dead.

Terminology notice (These are definitions you all would know):

Soul- A white energy that acts as a glue that holds all beings together. The stronger a beings connection the (classical and modern) elements the stronger the soul keeping it together.

Undead- Unfortunate beings with parts of there soul missing. This manifests as a verity of mental and physical aliments.

The ways to become an undead are as myriad as it's forms. Common causes include: death and coming back to life, life plague and soul sapping magic.

To stop this decay the undead learnt to steal and use the souls of others bind the own form together.

Demons- Usually created by powerful beings (and by nature), demons are creatures that have the minimal amount of soul to keep there form together. This soul deficiency manifests in two way: a hatred of those with more soul, and a hunger to consume a God soul and attain the rank of a demond God.

Examples of demons include dragons, phoenixes and elementals.

God soul- Founts of power that grants beings power beyond that of the greatest mortal sorcerer.

No one knows were these souls came from, but they do know that there power is beyond belief.

Gods- Any being that has consumed a God soul immediately becomes a God. Examples of gods include: elemental lords, The dragon king and the Ignis equiti them self.

Demond gods- A demond that consumes God soul gains the same power as a regular God. The only difference is that the morphology of the soul changes, meaning that anyone that consumes the soul becomes a void soul (see below).

Void soul- Beings that have consumed demond God souls have there souls destroyed and replaysed by a cold, dark nothing.

This void gives the being the ability to control the hidden elements of void. This power surpasses even that of the Gods.

Scholars assert that this is the origin of The Permanent phases of the night. They were mortal heroes in the dark reachs of time how slayed the demond gods of the time and consumed there soul and the dark power they unlocked drove them over the edge.

Of corses this is only conjecture.

(If non of that was clear just ask).

So how do souls work exactly? Like, you kill someone and they drop a soul? If you stab a guy does soul leak out?

So how do souls work exactly? Like, you kill someone and they drop a soul? If you stab a guy does soul leak out?

When a being dies there soul condenses as an orb above there body. To collect the soul you must crush the orb in some way (e.g. Most demons will eat them). To activate a soul with a special ability (like god souls) you must have the mental intention to use its ability.

Hope this explained things.

This sounds interesting ill join

Here's some questions what's the powe level of every one and the power level of the people keeping us here and are we stuck in the cells 247 or do we get to be in more places and what's the other inmates like

I got some interesting characters in my head but ill detail them later when I have time so here's a short description of them

First one appears to be a human kid around 15 and is vary charismatic and friendly but is some one who no one fights for the one fight he was he massacred this guy twice his size and no one knows much about him

Second guy is this really strong and tall looking guy that a master in many weapons and hand the hand combat and combat in general but he has no magic but has ki powers.when you was through in this prison the first thing he did was fight the most powerful guy there and got horrible injured and beaten I. The fight but nobody dear mess with him after that fight.

My last one is this guy that always seems to find or has items.the guy that self stuff to people or can finds things for people so. but not every one likes him because he some times steals stuff from people.he is in this heavy cloak most of the time and mostly keeps to him self and talks to him self some times you see he has gone a little mad after spending a long time here

Please tell me what you think of them:smallbiggrin:

First one appears to be a human kid around 15 and is vary charismatic and friendly but is some one who no one fights for the one fight he was he massacred this guy twice his size and no one knows much about him
A kid, really? :smalltongue: Charisma is useful, but hows that heroic? also, what do you mean by massacred a guy twice his size?
Second guy is this really strong and tall looking guy that a master in many weapons and hand the hand combat and combat in general but he has no magic but has ki powers.when you was through in this prison the first thing he did was fight the most powerful guy there and got horrible injured and beaten I. The fight but nobody dear mess with him after that fight.
Now that's the makings of a hero, Bruce Li to the rescue!!! Its always good to have someone around who can handle himself, but what's he like, is he more jackie chan drunken master or hulk smash?
My last one is this guy that always seems to find or has items.the guy that self stuff to people or can finds things for people so. but not every one likes him because he some times steals stuff from people.he is in this heavy cloak most of the time and mostly keeps to him self and talks to him self some times you see he has gone a little mad after spending a long time here
I can't criticize this, i love kleptos.
Please tell me what you think of them:smallbiggrin:

Since Priv is more of a villain and would require friends, lets think of something different. I'm assuming most fantasy races would be alright.

If so, I would like to introduce the Skyg. The Skyg are like really smart earth elementals, just a heads up.

A few centuries back the first Skyg rose, it did not know why, just that it was now part of the living world and could feel full emotions, not just simpler ones, next to it was a large emerald and when the Skyg touched it, his 'skin' turned to emerald. It lived for a century before crumbling to dust, the emeralds long since lost their luster.

While Skyg's do not have collective thoughts, they tend to think like one another. They are patient and logical, preferring to think rather than act.

The Skyg's Heart: Every race comes from something, the Skyg come from the trees and the rocks, the voice of the world as it were. The Heart is a sapphire, at least it was the last time a Skyg had it. So many years ago was it seen that none know what its current form is. One of the trickiest parts of the Heart is that it takes form based on where it is and has a knack for going unnoticed.

Mr. B to the rescue, but not really, I like more when I criticize, now its just quesitons.
Now I'm hurt deep in side but thinks for telling me

Ya the first guy has problems, maybe if bump his apparent age maybe it will be better but I think you people will still easily rip him apart. When I said massacre I ment he fight this big guy and cut his guts out and cut his head off and he is not a stereotype character but it will be hard to pull of his character to I may just get rid of him.and ya he is sorta like a insert character hard to pull off but if I did ited be a great character

Second guy he is some one more like goku but with weapons and less ki powers.

Last guy maby I can add more stuff to make him more insane so I'm going to do research who the mind works now.

And I want to know more about this setting please.

Well this game doesn't use levels... But keep in mind we are supposed to be the best the mortal world has to offer, the greatest heroes of an age. Also, you can look at the characters already posted and try to be approximately equal to them.

Hi guys. I'm hopping to start this at the end of next week, so have things done for next Friday.

Bladehunter217
2013-12-11, 02:27 PM
Appearance:

Chite is a collection of granite and malachite shaped into humanoid form, as artistically chiseled as any statue.

Equipment:

Badly damaged shirt, pants and a good old fashioned walking stick made out of the strongest of metals so it doesn't break too easily.

Race:

The Skyg are a race of rock and gems, none know how they are formed, just that they wake up one day with intelligence and a need to find the Heart, which they have knowledge of and each of the Skygs who have found it thus far. They believe the Heart is what gives them live and because of it, they are given their first memories from previous Skygs.

A Skyg has no gender, but sometimes refers to itself as one or the other, knowing that most races like to refer to them as male.

Abilities:

Chite is five-foot-three and right around five hundred pounds, its not especially difficult for it to put a hand trough something or someone. It is a powerful wrecking ball in a fight and does not hesitate to use its weight as an advantage.

Just about all of Chite's abilities relate back to its physical prowess, it is strong, fast and does not require to eat and breathe, not many things will slow Chite down when it is motivated.

Weaknesses:

Chite CANNOT swim. It weighs roughly four hundred pounds and while a Skyg does not breathe, it does not want to find out what water can do to a Skyg, especially salt water.
Chite can move surprisingly quietly, but it hardly matters since the ground shakes when it takes a step.

Alignment:

Neutral in all sense of the term, Kite only concerns itself with the longevity of the world and itself, preferring to survive as long as possible.

Motivation:

Kite desires two things more than anything else, to find the Heart and balance, it does not know why demons and undead walk this world, but Chite does everything in its power to remove them.

Associates:

Chite knows two other Skygs and knows of five more, they rarely make too large of a splash when one comes to life because they tend to avoid the other races.

Chite has worked as a blacksmith in several towns, taking advantage of being able to grasp the metal in its bare hands and its unnatural strength when wielding a hammer.

Background:

Chite's first day awake was spent in confusion, all it could remember was the first Skyg, whose memories seem to have been implanted in all Skyg awoken after it. It soon found itself being shunned from settlements, to strange to be seen as a member of society. This continued until he saw a group of demons terrorizing children, two had already died and there were only a few left. it found anger in its heart, something about the demons drove his mind out and replaced it with rage so it charged forward and swatted them aside, holding off the creatures until the children left. With no witnesses, it tore each of the demon's heads off before gathering the children's bodies and bringing them home.

News of Chite's victory spread, but instead of welcome, they feared Chite all the more, what else could it accomplish, how could they stand against it if it attacked them. Chite moved on again, winding up at the hut of an old hermit who used to be a blacksmith. The hermit welcomed Chite, proving that not all would fear it and taught Chite a trade, one that came easily to it considering its natural abilities.

I got both characters in my head with history of them and I think I can pull of both of them but don't know which one i want.

Which one will better fit this game a master fighter that will do anything to get out of the prison or a shadow master that's part insane and part evil?

Evil is fine as long as you don't flip on you're comrades or start to work for the bad guys. If you're insane something really bad most have happened to brake you're mind.

I've been putting this off but here it is.
Tell me what you think.
name: Sebastian

appearance: 7 foot tall with broad shoulder super defined huge muscles.green eye and a half green and half hazel eye.lots and lots of scars of all shapes and sizes all over his body each one telling a story.

Equipment: he had a massive collection of weapons and armor of all shapes and sizes master all of them but lost most of these in the war and the rest are gone.

nothing but Leather pants and leather shirt, a lot of hair , some shivs.

Race: human...kinda

He has the anatomy of humans but he is much longer lived for normal humans and look only around 30ish and he bones are harder then normal human and reflexes, strength, indurance and senses are much better then the normal humans and he can take more damage and heals faster[but it still take him some time to heal and he can take more damage but hot that much more.] and these thing are natural and compliment his constant exercise or practice

Abilities:

He is a fighter, killer, strategist and opportunist. He seeks to improve his abilities in every way. He has immense strength, fast reflexes, powerful endorance and he is a master in all weapons, armor, fist, special moves, and knowledge that you can find and make. He knows many languages and anatomy of many humanoids and medical skills [to help kill things of course] and alchemy [to make fire bombs that go boom] .knowledge about military and there strategies and architecture among other knowledge. He is not the must toughest fighters out there and he knows this so he builds plans for fighting different things.

Weaknesses:he loves fighting and showing off his skill but some times this gets him into trouble. He knows no magic and when he focuses often leaves him trying to push to his limits.

Alignment: lawful natural[most of the time]

He lost much of his past in the darkness of his cell, memory's fading into dreams and nightmares. He thinks and knows of the consequence of his actions but he is a fighter seeking to improve his abilities in every way and prove that he is the best and this leads to conflicted and most of time he acts honorable but he no way is bound to this honor and will do what he musts to win.

Motivations:

To get out of the cell at all cost then kill whoever put them there then find his lost stuff if he can get them and fight whoever he needs to fight to make every one respected and then maybe get them to serve him.
He seeks to have fun. Fun to him can be many things to him like showing of his skill and strength, eating, causing things to happen and commanding servants.
But above all else is to take back his lost powers that was tooken from him at the and of a massive battle that destroyed a city

Associates:

He has done a lot of thing in his past but that was hundreds of years ago most of his friend are dead from old age or otherings but there are some that may still be alive.

Background:
He's suffering from memory loss but he still remember things if they come up.
His past is like a dream to him hard to remember almost gone but one of the things he remembers is that some one took his soul at leased most of it and loss much power from that.

What do you mean human/fire elemental?

There is the ifrits race which is half human and half fire elemental.
Or you can play a human with a lot of fire powers but I'd think having dark power over darkness and necrotic energies where you can kill some one just by pointing at them and control undead ahaha but that's just me

more the second one. i was picturing a street kid who had an accident involving a dead fire god and a semi-sentient god soul. Then ended up with the ability to turn sections of his body into a animated fire and magma, very volatile control of fire, and slightly increased strength and speed.

i have his story mostly planned out, but i have 40 people coming over for christmas dinner later, so i'm busy right now.

EDIT: ok people are gone. i will write the character up tomorrow. i'm changing my character concept to more of an elementals spellsword/swordsage, though. the human torch ripoff was seeming a little boring to me.

DoonDao soultheif Runtzu (last part pronounced Rune-Tzu)
Appearance:
DoonDao has roughly the proportions of a regular human warrior, he is 5'9 and well muscled, though not overly so. He has long dark grey hair, a couple of braids decorated with ceremonial beads and a short beard. By human standards, he looks about 35. (Think the one armed guy, except as noted below.) (http://orpheelin.deviantart.com/art/Djihanes-characters-305647257)
DoonDao's skin is turquoise blue, (http://images.delphiglass.com/image_new/203580.jpg) and he has yellow gold eyes. See race below.
Lastly, he usually has a very faint colourless light emitting from his eyes and mouth. This is a byproduct of his bonding with a bedian sorcerer's soul, who's precarnation fought in the first shadow war (see race,) that granted him the ability to use magic. just like his powers, the glow has receded to nonexistence since he was imprisoned.

oh, and he has both arms. :smalltongue:

Equipment:
Doon isn't usually heavily equipped. His standard garb consists of a blue, yellow and violet lightweight robe (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/dx0303ex_96086.jpg) (which is a traditional garb for his people. Tt bears the marks of where he had it stitched and restitched before having it enchanted to regenerate on its own.) Under the robe he wears fishlike scalemail, grieves and bracers, which is forged from an abnormally strong "white iron" found only in the mountains of his home, which is known to have strange affects on magic. He carries a sword (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ae/Iron_sword_and_two_bronze_swords,_Warring_States_P eriod.JPG) and hatchet, (http://cusmith.deviantart.com/art/Experimental-Hatchet-349957489) each made from a single piece of white steel. both weapons of his people.
Of corse he has seen none of these things since he first entered the prison, but he greatly wishes to reclaim them.
Race:
This part will be easier if i describe the race and the culture separately.
Race: Bedian
The average bedian will stand between 5'6 and 6'4 by the time they reach full adulthood at the age of 55. A bedian's skin ranges from sky to Navy blue, their eyes from red to gold (with blues, violets and greens appearing on occasion as well,) and their hair from black to white.
While bedian physiology is similar to a humans, they age in different manner. A bedian's average life expectancy rests at about 75 years. They age at a much slower rate, however. They will reach adulthood at the age of 35 (the human equivalent being about 20.) At 65 (at which point they look to be about 45,) they reach the beginning of the end of their life, and start aging rapidly. within the next 10 years they will lose their hair (A bedian's hair never changes colour) and become functionally 100 years old at the age of 75.
The bedians also exhibit unique ability to communicate with souls. This communication is extremely basic, being limited to feelings and pictures, but it has a great effect on a bedians daily life (see culture.) Souls become more difficult to communicate with the older they get, and an soul past the age of 300 cannot converse at all.
Culture:
Bedians believed they were created at the end of the great war with the night, when the spirits of all who would fallen were reincarnated to enjoy the fruits of their labor on earth in new bodies.
Before the demons invaded again the bedian were a nomadic people, traveling the steps of the "spirit mountains" fringing the tenebris lapidem, on the backs of giant reindeer. The bedian revered the souls of their dead, believing their ancestors could petition to the gods on their behalf for long life, safety from storms and raiders, the health of their family, etc (this belief had some grounding, older families with more ancestors did seem to suffer less hardship.) To absorb a soul was one of the worst taboos one could commit amongst the bedian. Rather than absorb them, when a person died their relatives would take the soul with them on their travels, treating it as an honoured elder and asking for advice.
When a soul reached the point where it could no longer communicate, it was brought, during the winter holy months, to the city of spirits, RomOdin. Where all truly venerable souls are housed, dating back to the beginning of the bedian people.
During the winter months, all bedian nomads return to RomOdin and build a massive tent city where they pray to their ancestors for good fortune, make toasts in their name, and celebrate their victory against the night.
The only bedian who are not actively nomadic are those who live in the citadel year around. That is, shamans and Temple guards. It is traditional for the third son of a patriarch or matriarch to fill one of those roles.
A bedian's name consists of three parts: the first is a personal name given at birth. The second, a title inherited from a notable ancestor, if a member of a family tops said ancestor the name changes from the next generation on. The third is the name of their family.

Abilities:
-Even before the event that gave him his magic capabilities, DoonDao was a talented warrior, often worth any five men at once. But despite that skill, he was still an ordinary man, it was not the sort of skill to have epics written about. He is most skilled in unarmed fighting, the use of swords, spears and bows.
-He is a skilled rider and hunter, from his nomadic days before he was seant to RomOdin.
-He is familiar with many bedian prayers and religious ceremonies, due to being a guard in the holy city.

The spirit's magic made him:
-Stronger and faster, when he wills it, which puts in eye-to-eye with a demon of the night, as far as martial prowess goes.
-It gave him the ability to channel (through his body or things he is touching,) repell or redirect fire and lightning. He can also turn sections of his body into magma or living electricity, but the act of doing so leaves him weak for a day or more.
Tthough he doesn't know it, the extra soul in his body has been consciously adapting itself to the everlasting cycles of night, so that it can do with the darkness, what it does with fire and lightning.
-His flames can heal wounds of flesh, but that requires concentration, something that cannot be spared in combat.
Weaknesses:
DoonDao Is a dangerous man to cross, but he is still just a man. If one were to nullify the magic in his body, killing him would be MUCH easier.
Alignment:
Doon Is best described as neutral good. He is a man of honour, who treats his promises as his duty, defend the honour and safety of friends and family as if it was his own, and reveres and defends the souls of the dead.
however, were the trials of life are concerned, he sees no reason to work inside a confining box, and is willing to play dirty whenever he needs to.
Motivation:
Simply put? To crush the everlasting cycles of night. He is descended from those who died fighting it, the Citadel he was sworn to protect was destroyed by it, and he has spent eons imprisoned by it. Nothing would please him more than to see it pushed down to the deepest, darkest bowels of the earth and trapped there, in agony, until the end of the univers.
Associates:
Doon is a loner. The first time he ever raised his sword in earnest against the demons, was the day he saw his every worldly friend murdered before him. He made no lasting friends in urbis incendio. He met them, and they died in short order.
In prison He is the blue man. The freak. He has more enemies than friends. His habit of hiding souls to protect them from the inmates has made him very unpopular. He speaks to the souls for company, even long after they have ceased to respond.

Hmmmmm, freeform. Tasty.

So, I'm wondering if I could post interest for this. I've got a few ideas kicking about that really would be better played in freeform than anything else. If interest is still applicable, then I'll toss together a concept or three sometime tomorrow or Saturday. As a little taster of my main idea however:

Do not fear the Day
You know it as your Enemy.

Do not fear the Night
For it is your time of Power.

Fear the time Between.
When all is cast in Shadow.
And the light of Dimming Stars
Shines Merciless Eternal.

I am the last Knight of the darkest of Stars and I have waited in this place for eons uncounted. I saw the rise of the Fire from behind my bars, and watched it fall again to the Night. I remember the passing of the Heroes to this place, my given company after an eternity of silence. And as the Dimming Star takes it place upon the stage of Night once more, its long retirement finally over, I find that it has not forgotten me; its last Knight. The only one that the Night failed to kill. It shall pay for that error.

From destruction, death.
From death, rebirth.
From rebirth, cleansing.
From cleansing, purity.
From purity, bliss.

Let not even the darkest night be safe where even the dimmest light shines.

Kias Verity, Lady of Seven, Knight of the Dimming Star

Appearance: Kias is openly human in both appearance and actual race, but her ancient and prolonged exposure to the shadowed starlight of her patron has washed out all the colour that was so much a part of her before she took up the mantle of Knight. Simply put, Kias appears like a young human woman who is perpetually cast in twilight, all colour muted into soft greys, with the one exception being her eyes.

For the eyes of a Knight have no iris and no pupil. They reflect no light, and absorb colour as if it was an aperitif. Eyes are windows to the soul, so it has been said for all time. But the soul of a Knight is hidden behind layers of light and shadow, granting only a glimpse into the heart of a void colder than the Night itself to those who seek to find it.

The blackness of those eyes is amplified - one would think deliberately - by the tarnished silver of her armour. Once its metal shone with a brightness that the day could not replicate, and that the night could not destroy, but the long eternities of time spent in the shadowed cells without the means to restore it has left it badly damaged and drained.

Equipment: Kias has only three physical possessions left in the world, her sword, her silvered armour, and a pendant in the shape of a seven pointed star.

Her sword is truly ancient, forged from steel and starlight by her own hands to serve as both weapon and battle standard when the Knights of the Stars marched against the Permanent Phases of the Night long ago, and is - as far as Kias is aware - the only Starsteel blade left in existence. Tied intimately to her own life-force, a Starsteel blade will never dull, crack or break for as long as its Knight draws breath.

Her armour, once a gleaming silver-white, has been tarnished and rent by sheer age. Unable to maintain both armour and sword within the shadowed cells of the Midnight Reaches, Kias was forced to let her aegis fade in strength over the millennia as she kept her weapon sharp. Forged in the same way as her sword, her armour took far more starlight into its making than steel. Whilst this granted it a flexible strength unlike anything that could be forged by purely mortal hands, it was weakened by reliance upon the very thing that it gave it that strength. Starlight.

A Knight is a living conduit of one of the Seven Stars, granted great power from that pure connection to an entity so far removed from human constraints of power and being that the words are all but useless. Their arms and armour are forged of the very Stars, in themselves among the most lethal and fell of all creations gifted to mortal kind. And when the Knights of the Stars arrayed themselves against the servants of the Permanent Phases of the Night, those weapons were needed - and yet even then not enough. And those things born of Starlight can be maintained only by Starlight. And so to the last of her possessions, the seven pointed star.

For time immemorial, the seven pointed star has been a symbol of the space that lies between two sides, however small it might be. A pointed rejection of duality, in some cases literal, that the Stars took to be the emblem for their Knights when they chose to attack the Permanent Phases of the Night. In fact, the seven pointed star became the symbol that it is now known as because of that very war, but so few live that remember that truth. But for a Knight, a Talisman of Seven is more than just a pendant. Through these devices, Knights could draw on the full majesty of their patron's powers, and of the simplest of those was to replicate the mystical energy of Starlight. But out on the fringes of Midnight, even the power of the Stars grew thin, and so Kias was forced to choose. Her sword, or her shield.

The Talisman of Seven was her one lifeline for the aeons of imprisonment she faced as the chosen example of punishment - and guarantee of good behaviour - of the Permanent Phases of the Night to the Seven Stars. It allowed her to, however weakly, remain connected to the Seven even as they themselves were held in the Deeper Darkness of the Night as penance. If she could be called sane, the Talisman is what kept her that way.

Race: Human, but countless years of exposure to and channelling the power of the Seven Stars has left her forever changed.

Abilities: As a Knight of the Stars, Kias was granted power beyond the means of mortals of the time. one long before the Ignis Equiti brought Fire to the world. She has little knowledge and no skill with Fire, itself a product of a later age than the one into which she was born, but she recognises its power. Just as those who wield it will be forced to recognise her own. Chosen to lead the Star's holy crusade against the Permanent Phases of the Night as Lady of Seven, the power she wields is gifted from all Seven, not just the Dimming Star.

As one of the Chosen of the Stars, she gained the ability to channel and shape their endless Light, shaping it as those of the Ignis Equiti did Fire. But Starlight and Fire are two very different things, and their powers as separate in nature as one would expect. As one eventually elevated to the exalted post of Lady of Seven, Kias was a skilled wielder of Starlight, but as a Knight lacked the wider knowledge base that one who had only been Chosen would have.

As a Knight, she was granted the Mask, an internal construct that protected her from the advances of darkness upon her soul and mind. Not perfect protection to either, but often enough to make all the difference when tested.

The Dimming Star, as her first patron, granted her the Sight, a tool that served her well long before her ascension to Lady of Seven. The Sight is the source of her empty eyes, but the loss of their humanity was more than fair exchange. With the Sight a part of her, Kias gained the power to see in darkness as if it was light, and through disguise, illusion and even the twisted words of a lying tongue. More, it granted her access to a technique of Starlight that allowed her to sweep away the second and third of those things with naught but an exertion of will.

On her rising to the post of Lady of Seven, Kias was given free choice of the powers of the other Seven from which she chose the Punishment; the granted power of the Brightest Star. The Punishment allowed her to infuse her sword with unshaped Starlight, a power utterly inimical to creatures of or who served the Night that burnt away at their essence with an icy hunger.

But that was only the gift of her rising, not the gift of the title itself, and the power of the Seven combined is terrible indeed. A power used only once, and perhaps the one reason that the Night could not bring itself to push the Seven totally to the wall. And yet perhaps also the reason that the Seven accepted the terms they were offered, for the power of the Lady was not one they could themselves replicate, nor control.

It was called the Judgement of the Star Eyed, and it stands to this day as one of the most feared powers in all of Creation. Not one that lays waste to armies, nor one that delivers unstoppable death to a single foe, but something far worse. For there are things infinitely more terrible than death. A power that can only be invoked under the light of the - now returned - stars, the Judgement binds the one who it is set upon and forces them to confess to all evil that they have done in their life. All things terrible and vicious, with no attempt at justification for them. And then they are made to face them.

Kias invoked the Judgement only once, at the height of the last battle of the war when she faced the Night's most powerful champion. It was a battle that the Chosen of the Seven lost, but it was also the one that proved to the Night that there are things far more dangerous than destroying a foe. For on that day an ancient demond, one of the oldest of its kind, was bound in chains of Starlight and forced to face the evil it had done as a force made manifest by the Seven's power. And on that terrible, bloody night, the world is said to have shivered. Perhaps it was that very shiver that brought Fire to the world, perhaps not, it is of no matter to those who died there. But the Judgement's power....if it could be inflicted upon the Permanent Phases of the Night, not even the Seven knew what might happen.

The Night certainly didn't, and so they offered peace to the Stars. Not a fair peace, for it was certain that they held advantage over the Seven, but more fair then ever would have been expected by any who had not seen an ancient demond screaming for mercy as all the darkness of its life tore it apart under the inhuman gaze of the Lady of Seven. And not just eyes of total blackness, something far more strange. Specks of light shone from those eyes, a reflection in miniature of the night sky, and they were just as merciless as the Night.

Advanced Martial Starlight Shaping - plays out as full combat magic with additional sword.
Supernatural protections against mind control, forcible corruption, etc. Not blanket immunity.
True Sight.
Smite Evil.
Read the text, I can't do a short version :smalltongue:

No pyromancy.

Weaknesses: For all of her power and strength however, Kias has been greatly weakened by her time spent away from the Stars. Even with their return to the night sky, the shadowed cells have prevented her from restoring both her armour and herself. Long enough spent in total darkness or daylight with no time spent in starlight can greatly weaken any Knight, and for the Lady of Seven it is almost worse.

Even with time spent in starlight however, her magic and connection to the Seven is source of much of her power. Whilst the latter cannot be cut off short of another Heavenly War - which the Night would not wish to enter into - limited suppression of the former would be possible.

Alignment: Lawful Neutral, leaning more towards good than evil.

Motivation: Renew herself and her vows to the Seven. Restore the Knights of the Stars to their former strength, number and glory. And, in time, find a way to set the Judgement upon the Permanent Phases of the Night.

Associates: The Seven Stars. Kias's patrons for so long that the time when they were not hardly registers anymore, the Seven returned to the sight of the world less than a century ago, as allowed for under the peace they agreed to with the Permanent Phases of the Night following the War in Heaven.

Having spent years beyond number in the Deeper Darkness abiding to the conditions of the truce, the Seven are still working to regain their power, but the fact that their Lady still lives would - if she could be freed - be a lever that could bring many onto their side in preparation for another War.

Background: I'll get to this later.

So technically I have to put in something for Kias's backstory, but I'm unsure that that's really necessary considering how much of it got away from me in all the other sections. That said, I'll put a condensed version together, but most of it should be relatively easy to glean.

I'm aware that this may play a little bit of merry hell with the currently established setting, and if that's not ok fair enough, but I really do like this idea - as you just might have been able to tell

Oh, and any comments will be hugely appreciated.

ok, i fixed grammer and punctuation. his backstory will be up later today. any comments on what i already have would be greatly appreciated, since i'm a bit unsure about the general power levels of the characters, and i also just introduced a new race to the world.

DoonDao's skin is cobalt blue (http://www.glass-enamels.com/picture/cobalt-blue-lead-cadmium-free-glass-enamels-24501.jpg) and he has yellow gold eyes.

The average bedian will stand between 5'6 and 6'4 by the time they reach full adulthood at the age of 35.
They will reach adulthood at the age of 35 (the human equivalent being about 20.) At 65 (at which point they look to be about 45,) they reach the beginning of the end of their life, and start aging rapidly. within the next 10 years they will lose their hair (A bedian's hair never changes colour) and become functionally 100 years old at the age of 75. this is obviously all very approximate.

But despite that skill, he is still only a man, it is not the sort of skill to have epics written about.
-He is a skilled rider and hunter, from his nomadic days before he was seant to RomOdin.
-He is familiar with many bedian prayers and religious ceremonies, due to being a guard in the holy city.

while his magic may seem like it originates from him, is actually the work of Ado, his second spirit, who actively casts the magic through him
The spirit's magic made him:
-Stronger and faster, when he wills it, which puts in eye-to-eye with a demon of the night, as far as martial prowess goes.
-It gave him the ability to channel (through his body or things he is touching,) repell or redirect fire and lightning. This usually means: throwing fire/lightning, engulfing himself or his weapons in fire/lightning, blocking fire/lightning, channeling electricity or heat as a "touch attack"
-He can also turn sections of his body into magma or living electricity, but the act of doing so leaves him weak for a day or more.
-Though he doesn't know it, the extra soul in his body has been consciously adapting itself to the everlasting cycles of night, so that it can do with the dark and cold, what it does with fire and lightning. this essentially allows him to incorporate aspects of the everlasting cycle of night into his magical attacks, doing things like: engulfing himself in shadow, creating black vitality sucking lightening, creating freezing black flames, and repelling darkness. he can also detect the presence of demonic life. when using this type of magic, the light from his eyes and mouth works in reverse, creating a faint aura of darkness.
-His flames can heal wounds of flesh, but that requires concentration, something that cannot be spared in combat.
Weaknesses:
DoonDao Is a dangerous man to cross, but he is still just a man. If one were to nullify the magic in his body, killing him would be MUCH easier.
Also, infusing the everlasting cycle of night's power with his own is morally repulsive to him, he uses it only when absolutely necessary.

His only other friend Ado, the ancient soul that gave him his powers, has not spoken in the eons since he was imprisoned.
Ado means "elder" in the Bedian tongue. Doon Calls him that because the spirit cannot remember much of its own past. It knows it fought in the first war against the everlasting cycle of night, and it was clearly some kind of sorcerer, but it's name remains shrouded in mystery.
Ado has attempted to speak to Doon many times since their imprisonment, but whatever has suppressed its magic prevents them from speaking. therefore, the spirit has amuse itself in other ways. specifically, it has focused on finding ways to manipulate the darkness itself, and it's beginning to look like such magic may even be able to break their bonds. All it needs is to speak to Doon.

Background:
spoilered for length
DoonDao's name was not always Soulthief. At his birth he was DoonDao Soulguard Runtzu, after his great uncle, who single handedly defended the souls of his family, extended family and their extended family from 20 armed raiders. in fact, that story is what inspired DoonDao to climb in the ranks of the temple guards at RamOdin. he joined at the age of 36 (still functionally 20) at the lowest rank, but was a bit of a golden boy, due to his name (his great uncle was well respected, among bedian holy warriors.) in addition to being well liked, Doon was skilled and wise beyond his years, already having an impressive grasp of swordplay and horse(elk)manship, as well as having a sense of duty that impressed his superiors. one could say he was fated to raise in the ranks quickly. within five years he rose from his position as a lowly gate guard to a member of the RanDin holy guard, who presided over the great temple at the centre of RamOdin, in which only the most ancient souls were housed, (some as old as the bedian people themselves.) had another two years been allowed, Doon may have come to lead the RanDin. as it was, Doon quickly earned a small command.

at the hight of its glory, just before the et cinis cineris fell, the holy city held in excess 30'000 souls, but this number tripled in the winter, when families returned with their personal ancestral councils. the demons came with the cold.
despite what some say, the everlasting cycle's offensive did not start with an uncertain attack on urbis incendio. it began with RamOdin, in the midst of winter celebration.
the slaughter began at night. the dark ones stalked to the edge of the canvas metropolis, while the dark and clouded sky matched their black flesh. no guards were put out. no reaver would be mad enough to raid a bedian gathering that large. once they had encompassed the surrounding land, the demons began to reav in ernest. the tents lasted 1 hour. Doon was in the walls when the fires and screams started, and was among those ordered to defend the cities' core temple district. he busied himself for another hour, an hour in which the city walls fell, pulling the pilgrims in the city back to the great temple and building barricades.

and then he watched.
he watched from the front steps of the great temple, as the cities' walls were overtaken by swarms of black bodies, ant-like in the distance. he watched as those same bodies rushed in to fill his city, like a foul black water in a bowl, sweeping away his barricades and flooding the glorious blue buildings. he watched, and cried, as the citadel's great glass domes, illuminated by their ancient inhabitants began to go dim, then dark.
he watched them approach, and he stood fast, rank in rank with another four-hundred-ninty-nine armoured RanDin watchers. his greatest worldly friends.
battle was joined on those very stairs, for lack of better enterences. every other window or door was sealed by every chair, table and relic available to the defenders. first came the runts, the cannon fodder demons who couldn't get in on the feast of souls occurring across the city. those fights were quick. priests drew fire from air and split the weakling mobs apart, for the sword swingers to handle at leaser.
but those enemies were just overeager runoff. the true hord waited to finish their feast. so they grew, and they organized.
first to die were the priests, who were praying one moment, the next, doused in black freezing shadow when they died, soto did their walls of fire. next came the hulks; distorted beings of mass, who's every move sent a ripple of fear through the minds of the bedien warriors, who could hear, inside the monsters, the anguished souls of their ancestors and families. these creatures lined up in intelligent rank, and approached the cornered swordsmen. they attacked, and went to their death.
but more came. and more again.
no one could say how many waves they held against, but over the corse of the night, step by marble step was given to the darkness until the RanDin warriors was backing through their own temple doors.
then they broke.

Doon's commanding officer, a bull of a man, was struck down next to him by a by a towering six armed beast. the demon stepped to finish and Doon stepped defend. it came at him with a sword, and a three handed axe. it led with a foot, that DoonDao swiftly severed, followed, as it fell, by the axe-shaft, and the hands that held it. the beast died quickly, but it made its last moment worth it, using the sword.
Doon expected no more resistance from the dyeing demon, and so left his guard open to a deadly dyeing strike at the heart.
after he fell, the defence crumpled quickly. Doon's vision drifted in and out as he watched the carnage. first, gaps appeared in the thinning line, then began to spread, then the demons moved to the pilgrims and ancestors. the less said of that the better.

Doon dragged himself through the carnage, evading danger somehow. he pulled himself through blood and over bodies until his strength ebbed and blood loss began to take him.

can you hear me?
the voice spoke in DoonDao's head. he gave no coherent reply, but it seemed to be enough.
i am beside you.
and so it was. a soul. as yet unnoticed by the demons around it, and speaking clearer than any Doon had ever seen.
"elder" he whisperd.
i ask a boon of you, one you must not deny, much as you may wish... the war with the everlasting cycle is beginning again, as it did in my time, and a war needs warriors. warriors like i or you. join with me. lend me your mind, and i will lend you my power, so that we can repay them the atrocity of their existence.
and so DoonDao the warrior, the blasphemer, the Soulthief reached out his hand and betrayed his every conviction.

the spirit repaired his body, made it better and more. much as he hated it, though, there was still nothing he could do for his city anymore. he fled to fight another day. he met many of his people, on his way to urbis incendio. refugees, mostly. he helped where he could.
he traveled fast, and arrived long before any of his people. just in time for the invasion.
the rest is history.

i'll try to make that clear in Doon's abilities section.

i'v updated the background, but its only about 2/3rds done. i am a bit worried that its becoming a wall of text. should i be shortening this?

EDIT ok, background is done. i'll make some edits to abilities and better explain what the Spirit did. Done. I also updated the acquaintances section, to include Ado, the second spirit in DoonDao's head.

Make a evil voice in your head telling you bad things.
Or you can give the spirits more personality.

well, i always imagined Ado being a wise old man, but i guess meddling with the darkness could have changed his outlook. i'll put in his unerring determination to destroy the everlasting cycle, the mentor/student aspect of their relationship, and possibly some morally nihilistic philosophy. maybe some schizophrenia to make him turn into a wrathful bastard at times.
