I've been running Scales of War (converted to 3.P) for a couple of months and they are about to hit the BBEG of the first adventure, Sinruth. As written he uses a spiked chain and I wanted to keep that bit. I need help fleshing out his stat block with appropriate feats and maneuvers. This is a gestalt campaign, which is why he is gestalted. Any feat from 3.5 or Pathfinder is available.

Sinruth PF Fighter 5// Swordsage 5
Size/Type: Medium Draconic Humanoid (Goblinoid)
Hit Dice: 5d10 +20 (70 hp)
Initiative: +5
Speed: 30 ft. (6 squares)
Armor Class: 22 (+3 Dex, +6 mithral breasplate, +1 NA, +2 Wis), touch 15, flat-footed 17
Base Attack/Grapple: +5/+11
Attack: Spiked Chain +15 melee (2d4+14/20)
Full Attack: Spiked Chain+15/+10 melee (2d4+14/20)
Space/Reach: 5 ft./10 ft.
Special Qualities: Darkvision/ Low-light vision 60 ft. +4 on saves vs sleep & paralysis, Weapon Training (flails), Armor Training
Saves: Fort +10, Ref +9, Will + 8
Abilities: Str 21, Dex 16, Con 18, Int 14, Wis 14, Cha 16
Skills: Acrobatics +11, Concentration +12, Bluff +11, Diplomacy +13, Intimidate +15, Perception +10, Sense Motive +10, Stealth +14, Survival +8
Feats: power attack, dragon wings, *SS* weapon focus (spiked chain), combat reflexes, improved trip, adaptive style, stand still (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicFeats.htm#standStill), martial study (Foehammer), martial stance (Thicket of Blades), Imperious Command
Equipment: Masterwork Spiked Chain, +1 mithral breastplate, Cloak of Resistance +1
Flaws: Hot-Blooded (http://eberronunlimited.wikidot.com/flaw:hot-blooded), Implacable (http://eberronunlimited.wikidot.com/flaw:implacable)

Edit: I want him to be an annoying tripper. He can't do too much damage because they are only 3rd level and HP is kind of a limited resource. I already misjudged that once and killed 2 characters, and almost got the other 2 as well. He will have a Warbeast Dire Wolf with him.

Edit 2: I've removed Combat Expertise as a pre-req for all feats. It's a stupid feat tax that adds nothing to the game. The PCs are 3rd level.

Edit 3 (I really suck at this...): All edits to the stat block will be italicized. He gets a learned feat at 4th level which must somehow relate to his STR bump. He will also have 2 flaws (which makes 9 by my count since we are using the PF feat progression.)

Help?

Make the fighter levels the dungeons crasher variant, somehow increase his size (wand chamber w/ enlarge person?) grab knockback and shocktrooper instead of weapon focus and extra readied maneuver. Grab thicket of blades stance, then whenever they move within a certain area, knock 'em back into a wall by whipping your chain into them.

I think I'm missing something but isn't that HP above his max?

Yep. I had more levels on him at first. I'll fix it.

Might be too much. They are only 3rd level after all... That kind of damage would be a TPK for sure, I think. Plus, Knockback doesn't stack with Dungeoncrusher in our gaming circle (DC specifies that your body crashing into it to do the damage.)

He gets Weapon Focus in an entire discipline's favored weapons for free from Swordsage, including Spiked Chain if he picks the Shadow Hand weapons. So he doesn't need to spend one of his feats on that. It also looks like he's missing Combat Expertise to qualify for Improved Trip. Consider giving him Stand Still (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicFeats.htm#standStill) if he's going to be a battlefield control type. Adaptive Style is better than Extra Readied Maneuver for a Swordsage. Dragon Wings (RotD) could also be useful, though more so if he was already 6th level. Dungeoncrasher wouldn't do him much good, you have to be large size to get Knock-Back.

Use the Zhentarim Soldier sub levels (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060327a) and the Dead Levels (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cwc/20061013a) class features for Fighter. Consider throwing in the feat Dreadful Wrath (PGtF) for a frightful presence, plus the Never Outnumbered skill trick (CS). If he had one more level you could also give him Imperious Command (DotU) for an amazing Intimidate side effect.

What level are the PCs, and will this guy have any lackeys/meat shields?

:smallsigh: I always forget to put stuff in at the beginning... Another Edit it is!

BTW, I think I put the weapon focus from SS in the feat block just to keep track of it.

He's still missing a feat, there are five listed including Weapon Focus, he gets one at 1st, 3rd, Fighter 1, Fighter 2, and Fighter 4. He's still missing the Combat Expertise prerequisite for Improved Trip, or if he doesn't need it maybe include Dragon Wings to make him more memorable.

I know, that's why I posted this. I need help with feats and maneuvers...

Combat Expertise is no longer a pre-req for anything.

I'll check out Dragon Wings...

Ok, feats are filled. Thanks for the help on that!

On to maneuvers! I'm thinking that he is going to focus on DW, SS, and SH... He has 10 known with 6 readied.

DW
Distracting Ember (for the flanking)

DM
Sapphire Nightmare Blade
Emerald Razor

SS
Counter Charge
Baffling Defense
Devastating Throw

SH
Shadow Blade Technique
Shadow Jaunt
Cloak of Deception
Shadow Garrote

Thoughts?
