I've stumbled across a fun combination: make a Harpoon (Stormwrack) out of Stygian Ice (Frostburn).
Harpoons, when they hit the target, get stuck. Taking them out deals damage equal to the amount they dealt going in.
Stygian Ice deals a small amount of cold damage per round of contact, and each dose of damage requires a Will save or take some Wisdom damage.
Stygian Ice is expensive and you have to have a magic freezer or something to store it in (Blue Ice is good for that), but this is a "fun" combination for DMs to inflict upon their players.
For extra fun, apply Blister Oil to the head of the harpoon and/or slap a Symbol spell on the harpoon before throwing.
