View Full Version : Help me name my Spelljammer.

So for my current campaign, I'm taking my players out Spelljamming. This is a 3.5 game, but I love the concept and wanted to include it in my game.

But, I'm stuck. I can't figure out what to name the bloody ship.

It's an original design, but I have no pictures for reference. Long and lean, all streamlined curves and built for speed. She's captained by a changeling rogue (ex-spy and infiltrator, if that helps) and helmed by a warforged artificer. (Yes, I know I'm messing with cosmology here, and I'm fully aware)

Any suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated, the name is really starting to frustrate me.

She's a lean, smooth ship that cuts through the ether like butter?

I'd call her, simply, The Razor.

As a bonus, I'd name the NPC captain Ockham. (The spelling is deliberate.)

The Slippery Eel, the Waxing Moon, the Star Treader, The Phlogiston's Fury.

That's beautiful. The captain is actually the PC's employer, a high level rogue known simply as Face. Ockham would be an excellent alias, though. . .

Love it so far, but I'm curious to see what the rest of the playground comes up with?

The Edmund Fitzgerald
The Henrietta Marie

Thunder Goat.
The Wet Blanket.

Better yet, don't name the ship.

In a campaign I'm running, the party ran into a major NPC... with no name, and it drove them crazy. It wasn't that he wouldn't tell them; he just didn't have one. Hilarity ensued with trying to decide what to call him. They couldn't even just ignore him because he was central to the plot.

Seriously, don't name the ship.

Suggest looking at famous clipper ships (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clipper) and modifying into D&D namespace.

"The ships name: 'The She's One of Ours, Sir' ", the captain remarks with a grin. "That ought to buy us some time if the situation gets hairy."

Mine was named The Emerald.

Or some of the more famous warships:

I think that The Minnow is a pretty classic name. For bonus points, give it a theme song in the form of a sonnet.

Call it the Titanic.. see if the players want to get aboard :smallcool:

Have the crew affectionally call it Mom. As the warforged always likes to say. She keeps us warm and safe at night but if hurt one of us she melts ya down and uses ya like a canon ball.

Or something to that effect.

I must admit a sense of disappointment in everyone. Not once did anyone recommend the "S.S. More Powerful Than Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and The Incredible Hulk Put Together" :smallconfused:

According to Afroakuma you aren't :smalltongue:

I thought Eberron had its own cosmology and was this not a part of the Great Wheel or the Spelljammer galaxy?
