This place is just as it sounds. It's outside.
Want a change of scenery? Go outside.
Always wanted to visit the beach? Come outside.
Looking to have a climatic fight on clifftops? Attempt outside.
Secret meetings being held where there's no cameras? Try outside.
Want an ambush without nasty base defenses? Yep. Outside.

Any and all are welcome here. There are no NPCs unless you bring them in. The major exception is the creepy eyed squirrel. The creepy eyed squirrel does not interfere with anyone. The creepy eyed squirrel is everywhere outside. The creepy eyed squirrel is always watching. The creepy eyed squirrel never sleeps. The creepy eyed squirrel can not be damaged, manipulated, or killed by anyone. The creepy eyed squirrel will eat anyone's very being who attempts to do so. Anyone can god-mode the creepy eyed squirrel. You may pet the creepy eyed squirrel at your own risk.

Other NPCs currently include:
The menacing crabs. (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/Ironack/menacingcrab.jpg) These intimidating creatures are usually found by the shore.
The non-existent duck. You'll miss every time you shoot at it.

There is very little you can't do outside. However, like always, please follow the forum rules and general rules of conduct. Private conversations can be held outside. If it seems like a private (secret) conversation, please respect that. Those having such a conversation should do their best to indicate it as such. Otherwise, other characters may stumble upon you. Those desiring to spy in on private conversations should first PM those holding the private conversation, more out of courtesy than anything else.

There are many areas outside, and people can be in multiple places outside. In order to keep areas outside separated so there's no confusion, consider bolding your outside location at the start of each of your posts, like so:

The Fields

Reinholdt sets up various targets and practices his sharpshooting. All these events recently has made him a bit rusty. To his left, he notes the creepy eyed squirrel. Giving him the heebie-jeebies, Reinholdt decides to head somewhere else.

The Cliffside

Calublufiok broods over his latest scheme as he flies over the cliffs. The creepy eyed squirrel is watching him again. He finds occasionally landing and telling the creepy eyed squirrel his plans helps him find holes in his plotting.

Note Reinholdt and Calublufiok do not interact because they are in different areas outside. They could interact, if Reinholdt moves to the cliffside. Of course, various things like telepathy help bypass this. Also, please note outside has no major buildings, though minor ones crop up from time to time.

And most importantly, enjoy outside. That's what this is all about.

Outside now contains various Outside locations! Such as...
[Dead Pine Lake]
This lake lies in the middle of the forest. On the eastern shore, woodpeckers feast on the dead pines that give the lake its name. Sometimes one can find Lady Death here, the Aspect of Eve also known as The Grandmother, or Jedwiga.

(Please PM happyturtle if you wish to interact with Jedwiga.)

http://i431.photobucket.com/albums/qq40/happyturtle-avs/p243360-Delray_Beach_FL-Wetlands_sc.jpg

[The Islands]

An island cluster forms an archipelago along the coast. Some of the islands are settled, some not, but most are at least occasionally visited by the fishermen who work these waters.

[Gersemi's Island]

Now more commonly known as Melody's Island, since Gersemi has long ago retired.

Where once was a single hut with a few sheep, now stands a single hut, a barn, a few sheep, and a small tented community of orphans. Gersemi's loom still rests in one corner of the single hut.

Melody, like Gersemi before her, is a healer for the surrounding islands.

(Please PM Lex-Kat if you wish to interact with Melody.)

[Redbrick Falls]

A mountainous, cliffy region with a prominent waterfall. A large quarry once was worked in these cliffs. Now, only a few scattered villages and solitary dwellings remain.

[Norosa, Great City of the Elves]
A Lawful Evil city with an incredibly strong military and a very charismatic leader (Archmage Tyrion Lannister). It has a few CG resisters, but, otherwise, it is a city of peace and law, despite its evil nature.

[Brillian's Baneful Bestiary]
A secret series of caves where a mad scientist lives. A mad scientist who creates mutant attack creatures. These can be purchased for the right price.

[Auxiliary MagCave]

A relic from the days of the Age of Apocalypse, this abandoned cavern was once used by the infamous cyborg Magtok as a back-up laboratory and underground fortress, should Calublufiok have ever stormed the primary MagCave.

[The Katz Motel]
Located in the middle of Nowhere, our roadside motel is the only decent place for miles near the Taverna that has a bed. Run by a suave anthropomorphic cat, there is a strict No Dogs policy.
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090705011306/courage/images/b/bc/Katz.png

A bellhop by the name of Bates is always ready to assist in carrying your luggage. Please ignore his constant mutterings about his mother. Other more unsavory employees can occasionally be found. Please try to avoid eye contact with them.

We at the Katz Motel wish to ensure you have a splendid stay. Any inconvenience due to randomly locking doors, giant spiders, secret passages, vampires, creepy paintings, and the occasional possession and subsequent exorcism are incredibly rare. Just look at our complaint cards! Not a single one mentions dying horribly in their sleep or becoming food for the monster in the basement.

And if you get bored, the owner will always be up for a game of sport, old boy.

((The Katz Motel is a horror filled place with the highest casualty rate of any motel in the Nexus area. Checking in is usually pretty easy and pleasant. Checking out is rare. Anyone can play the Motel and the NPCs within, free to invent their own horror. The NPCs within that can die usually only suffer death temporarily, the supernatural force causing the disturbances bringing them back to life for its own nefarious purposes. PCs get no benefit from this.))

[The Troll Cave]
A cave in a craggy hill. The undergrowth outside is trampled completely flat, and there's not much wildlife. There's a burned patch where a fire is sometimes there. Inside are a few large caves, linked by surprisingly smooth tunnels that look like something big has been regularly pushing through them.

[Blind Cat's Bluff]
A sheer cliff dropoff that travels straight down into the water, this is a favored point of people who commit suicide, romantics wanting to watch the sunset and anyone looking to get rid of evidence. The drop is pretty far and there are rocks at the bottom that spell almost certain doom, so watch your step.

[North Forest]
A magical forest with a mythical spring of beauty. A bit like the Weald, but not nearly as dangerous. For starters, you can find your way back out and the pixies aren't cannibals.

Frozen Forest & Hermitage
A large forest of tall trees and once very pretty flowers lies here. The entire forest has been completely frozen over, and a blizzard constantly storms and snows over the forest, but doesn't affect even an inch past the forest border. The forest is still very pretty; the flowers and mushrooms glittering under a frozen layer. The place is pretty safe, if you're used to constant snow and cold temperatures.

Sith'ari Temple: Shadows of the Sith

Trucido simply begins to move forward, activating his lightsabers in the process. He speaks to Skye as he enters the temple. Follow me, close. This place is old, yes, but I do not doubt that Sith traps have lasted this long. There's most likely a room full of computers. We should be able to access logs, a map of the place, locations of items we should know about, and activate the full security system. Shouldn't be too difficult. He walks forward and glances down the dark corridor to the right. There's a light mist along the floor, which hides it from view. ....I suspect some form of pit trap soon.

"I follow." Skye steps carefully after the Sith as they make their way into the temple, flipping the knife back and forth in her palm. "No, something in the pit, to make mist like so. The map be the most important." The avian woman extends a tendril of flame down the corridor, trying to create enough light to pierce the mist and reveal any dangers.

Trucido happily accepts her lighting as he glances down. Sure enough, the magical fire illuminates the hallway, revealing two pits with large machines at the bottom, silently generating the intense fog. Sith Acolytes were required to use the force to split away the fog to walk through the temple at all times. One mistake, and you'd have a broken neck or spine at the bottom of a pit. And once you landed in there... It was rules that no one was to assist a fallen comrade. Cruel, harsh, yes... But inspiring. Efficient in raising cruel, harsh, efficient Sith warriors.

Trucido moves past the pits and as he moves close to one... He notices a very old looking skeleton. It looks to be a long-dead and forgotten Sith clad in tattered black cloth and faded battle armor printed with the Second Galactic Republic symbol. This individual must have fallen in there somehow. The odd part is... Right by the Sith is what appears to be an attacker in almost completely decimated white robes, split in half by a lightsaber. The two must have been battling and fell to their deaths. As they proceed further down the hall, more and more skeletons appear in their path. Jedi, Sith, and Mercenaries hired by Jedi. All dead. ...A great battle was fought here. There seemed to have been no victor. Their lightsabers, collect them. Those ought to be... very useful.

Forward is a large door, clear, but splattered in crusty black blood...

"Hmm. We need a bigger portal. Do you have the ability to move it yourself, or do you require the assistance of Pazuzu?" The creature is one of Pazuzu's best torturers, giving it an unequalled knowledge of anatomy and causing pain, even if it does regret killing. The flying octopus-creature is naturally predatory, and knows how to use its chain with devastating effect, though it does have several severe weaknesses that make it a poor soldier.

Fish On Ice

"Actually I was going to bring it back to live. After that it can fly on it's own. It would be a shame if we send him out in this state. He would just fall down like a giant ice cube."

Well, Arkant can't see that the speaking one is a torturer. Unless he got a sign or something alike. But after all he notice they aren't in the same way as the pnoies. Via his mindlink he will call Vutha, the black dragon in half dragon form to him. He already needs her to pick him up, but it can't hurt if she also guards him.

"Next, we need to get you somewhere where I can help mend you. You still have several broken bones that I need to set, and I need to be where there's a flat, and sterile, surface in order to do that," Quinn says, smiling softly at Melody and Lyanna. "And then you're going to need to stay off your feet for awhile. Even with magical healing, the body can still think it's injured - and be prone to re-injury."

Melody rolls her eyes at Quinn. I thank you for your help, doctor. But I think I can.... Her face stops, her brows furrowing in confusion, then in focused concentration as she also closes her eyes.

After a moment, she looks up at Quinn. Who may recognize a panic about to come. It's.... gone!

Lyanna looks from Melody to Quinn.

Forest Island

Mmmm... fish. Reinholdt tries very hard not to be distracted and goes to fly over the river and continue on his way towards the mansion.

As he flies over, one of the jumping fishes tries to jump high enough and slap him with it's tail.

Another follows it's lead, and another, and another. If he gets a good look at them, he may be able to tell that they are intentionally going after him.

[High Seas Adventure -> Melody's Island]

No interuptions. When Derek goes back down, he finds Jezebelle rolled up and snuggling in the warm blanket.

Derek will gently try to shake her awake saying her name gently. "Hey Jezebelle, we are back at the island."

She slowly wakes up, rolling over to look up at who's waking her. It... wasn't a nightmare, was it. she states, then sits up and lets out a breath. I can't believe it's real. She starts to stand, then stumbles a bit. She's feeling the toll of the strain her bodies been through.

[Old Woods]

When Adir reaches the wood where he once met the Old Man Forest, it looks much like the last time. The year that has passed means little to the wild that had been there since before humans figured out not to eat fire. By now, of course, most of the leaves have fallen off the trees and a light coat of early snow covers the trees and rocks. Adir might see a few of the gnomes which he once met, watching him from various spots.

I've been waiting on you for ages! And then you just go and continue the scene without me.

[Temple]

As Trucido touches the sliver with the Force, he'll feel a huge backsurge of anger, and possibly the surfacing of angry memories. At the same time, it blocks his grip with Force power of its own.

"<I've come to see the Old Man,>" Adir declares, to the forest and its gnomes. He looks around at the lot of them, and unless they stop him, he'll walk still deeper.

The gnomes do not stop Adir or address him. The forest is very quiet as he walks, the silence broken only by the crunching of his boots on the snow and frozen ground. Eventually, he will reach the grove where he once met the master of these woods. He will see him, seated upon an old, gnarled tree, wearing the same form of a blind old man in threadbare clothing.

"<Welcome, Adir Frescot,>" he says. "<I am glad to welcome you in my woods once again.>"

Given that the lanky pale-skinned creature's name translates to 'Creator of Pain', it can be guessed if one knows Irish or has access to Google Translate.

He does appear to be rather... unwelcoming at the moment. Certainly not feeling the most comforting either, judging by how he moves. Skye's personal comfort and safety appears to be the last thing on Trucido's mind. He was feeling angry. So many Sith lost their lives here. Powerful Sith. As he approaches the rows of pits, walking across the ledge by the left wall, he uses force pull to summon the unique sabers from the pits.

There are very few still functioning, for the Force Crystals had mostly been destroyed by time and battle-wear. The surviving http://i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s440/Singingnoodle/Sabers.png are placed in Trucido's pocket.

He moves to the door and attempts to open it. I'sek tah! He growls and curses under his breath as he tries to push it, or activate the key code. He didn't want to have to damage the place further. ...I can slice through it, and break it. Or we can try to hack it. What do you want to do?

Wondering what those blind eyes, remote as misty mountains, could have seen in days long past. The stag begins to think that the Old Man really is the forest, taking on a mouth only when in need of one.

Skye watches the lightsabers fly up. She thought there were some remaining on those who had not died in the pits, or are they just left to her to describe?
"Hack? What you mean, like with saws? Only if the code-enter box is broken down."

Really, Calamity should just pick a plan and lead. This is his peoples' realm, and he's asking Skye what to do?

She strides up and examines the edges of the door. If it's hinged they'll be on the other side, but she might still be able to burn through and cut them off. If the door rolls or lifts it will be more difficult.

The base reclaimed by the Altaran Irregulars has been busy. Transports ferry people and supplies to and from the facility as the Irregulars reclaim it and strip out unwanted Borg additions. And probably only mess with it a little.

The rift above the mountain still hangs over it, casting eerie, color-shifting lights over the area.

Out on the ground, a number of Evolution Industries hovertrucks approaches. An individual in a shiny new suit of high-tech armor (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=16499307&postcount=577) hovers in front of them.

"Alright, everyone bring the containment systems out. I'll go take some readings from the rift so we can tune the confinement fields properly. Don't break anything," DC orders, the helmet apparently now equipping a voice modulator to disguise certain problems. The armor leaves the whole thing rather hard to tell, really, though if anyone had the other suit for reference they could probably tell if they paid close enough attention.

A fancy scanning device in hand, the psychic executive flies up to the rift and starts taking readings. "Wait, what? That's not right..."

Underneath it is something that looks very similar to the machines commonly found in pokemon centers, even with room for up to six pokeballs.

It is rather obvious that isn't it's purpose however with all the strange cords and the large computer connected to it and the fact it's the source of the sounds she heard and the energy she felt.

Near the machine itself is a metal slate shaped as a human bed with several manacles built into it.

There don't appear to be any scientists working on the computers, indeed, they appear to all have been turned off. Instead there are no less than ten grunts standing near the glass wall separating the machine from the rest of the room with even more pokemons at their command. Most of them are water types but there is a few dark and psychic types there as well.

It appears they are expecting her.

The vent doesn't lead anywhere near the machine so she likely wouldn't be able to get in that way.

The rings are remarkably easy to cut through as it just breaks apart as if had been made of lego-pieces. If said lego-pieces were floating.

Since even as he cuts through the tiny sphere shaped pieces will still be there in the air as he brushes past them and eventually start to reform again. But rather than taking the form of rings again they break apart and form together into a large shapeless cloud of tiny black pieces which swarms after the paladin.

The Paladin might have noted that individually the black spheres don't carry the same heat-draining effect and can easily be brushed past. It's just together they carry the lethal effect.

[Over A Mountain]

Over A Mountain

A screaming sound can be heard from the rift as something large and incredibly fast bursts out of it. Of course, after a moment's thought, people might realize that the screaming wasn't coming from the rift itself, but rather over their commlinks.

People will likely have to get out of the way or find themselves turned into greasy smears as a strangely familiar jet cockpit rockets out, crudely welded engines strapped together to the back with a pair of wings made from a shimmery golden foil bolted to the sides of the craft. The cockpit's window is also quite a bit worse for wear, having actually been completely replaced by stained glass of all things, formed to show a picture of a grey cube with a pink heart in the center of the front. It seems that even a gun has been placed on the cockpit's nose, though the blue glow coming from the muzzle combined with the overall design makes it difficult to pinpoint the origin of it. The ship's paintjob is also crude, quite the contrast to everything except the engines, being a smearing of red with a blue skull on either side.

As for the screaming you ask? Well, it all comes down to one phrase if people are able to decipher it from the rapidity and static.

"-INGHATETHISPAAAAART!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! !"

Should the aircraft miraculously avoid being shot at and misses everyone, it crashes into the ground hard, digging a deep trench as the flaming engines sputter and die into smoking heaps of scrap. The blue glow on the foregun dies and after a few more heartbeats the cockpit's window slides open as a person leaps out in a diving roll that lands it next to the ship's hull. The figure slams it's right arm on the top of the small craft and anyone watching will see the glossy blue hand fold outwards and inwards in different places to form a speartip that begins to glow the same eerie blue as before.

Blu, finally back home, shouts just one thing.

http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/209/945/D6PfW.jpg?1322673184

Overall, her shape is generally the same, but her attire and physical features are vastly different than before. Her "uniform" is now little more than banana leaves sewn over patches of old leather and even bits of chainmail. Her once bright blue "skin" is now only blue on her arms and legs where it shows, but fades into a grey-green as it reaches her core. Over the armor she wears a sleeveless black leather trench coat with plates riveted into her shoulders. The only portions of her original uniform that remain the same are her beret (now rather threadbare) and her boots though the latter now has metal plates bolted onto the toes with spikes.

It looks like the Mekhnaiad has had a rather rough time as she traveled through the rift.

As it turns out, crashing happens.

It ends up at one of the entrances to the base itself, around one of the entrances to the base. Fortunately, it seems the defense turrets at that entrance are not yet active.

That said, it doesn't take long for a response to show up. First are a few Irregular troopers who come out and boggle, followed by...oh hey, it's Engineer Cross. Guess he's been busy helping fix up the place.

Then DC floats on down to stare too.

"...Is this one of yours?" DC asks, looking at Cross and the Irregular troopers.

"<It's a long story, but if you wish to hear it, I'm glad to share,>" the Old Man says.

"<In the end, it was the arrogance of our King that doomed us. The King, sometimes called King in Rags by the mortals, was a mighty Fae Lord. He was hungry for conquest in the mortal realm, far more so than other Lords and Ladies. He commanded a host of lesser Fae greater than any other, but the giants and mortals fought tooth and nail. In his impatience, he created the Gol,>" he recounts, then pauses. "<The Gol were a race of monsters unlike anything the Fae had ever seen before... created from mortal soil mixed with the King's blood and thorns from his domain in the Lands. They were to make the bulk of his army, marching in the first rows. But it didn't quite go his way.>" The Old Man shakes his head. "<The Gol did fight for a while, but then deserted. The King, nor anyone else, didn't expect that. But they had enough of the mortal world in them to willingly become mortal and abandon him. They eventually became orcs, hobgoblins and goblins. The loss of his troops and the defeats that came with them were an inconvenience to the King, but not much more. It was the long-term results that were his undoing.>" The Fae sighs.

"<You see, the Lords and Ladies of the Fae need to assert their own identity and story. That's what sets them apart from us lesser Fae, who are created the way we are, or the spirits and demons, who take the shapes mortals give them. But it also means that denying their identity is the surest - perhaps only - way to defeat them. When the Gol left him, the King's narrative of an undeniable ruler was shaken. The mortals saw him, and by the extension all Fae, as enemies to be defeated, not terrors that howled in the night. And when enough mortals, with their Divine Fire burning inside them, believed, it became a truth imposed on the King. His hosts were defeated and he was driven back into the Fairest of Lands. And after such a thunderous defeat, the worlds couldn't stay together. The Fairest of Lands receded... some of us were swept away with them, others were stranded. The giants diminished, turning from mighty titans into shadows of their former selves... why, I don't know. Perhaps it was their lack of the Fire to sustain them as the world diminished. The world would belong to mortals. They eventually began to fear those of us who stayed behind, of course, as the world settled into place. But fearing a bogeyman in the woods is something different to fearing an otherworldly army marching on.>"

The mist slips up and coils around Trucido's neck as the voice whispers this in his head.

Trucido breathes in deeply before sighing. No, as in, the code. Hack the code. To open the door... Nevermind, ugh. He takes out his red lightsaber, Scorpio, and makes a large circular slice through the door, which he then proceeds to violently kick into the room. He walks into the place, his lightsabers now brandished, lighting the pitch black room with violet and crimson.

Suddenly, two turrets built into the ceiling fire down upon Trucido and Skye.

"Good heavens, it's been such a very long time indeed since last I was called to one of these before." Adjusting his glasses and brushing a few crumbs off the lapel of his vest, a smartly dressed, greying man peers at the confrontation between Aequitus and the amorphous demon with academic curiosity.

After only a moment, he turns towards Aequitus and brandishes a gloved hand carelessly, causing a cascade of interlocking triangular planes of yellow energy to form between himself and the demon and hover protectively, "Fancy a bit of aid? I could see no other reason for me to be here."

"Melody. Take a deep breath." Quinn reaches out, gently putting her hand on her friend's shoulder as a look of concern comes across her face. "What's gone?"

I'm gald you came to save me. Jezebelle holds out her hand to him, and if he takes it, she'll lean over to kiss him.

They reach the cottage where Melody sleeps quickly enough. No one is there. And the barn is empty as well. Where could they be? Jezebelle asks, sounding a bit worried.

The Old Man Forest chuckles. It sounds like the roots of a tree stretching themselves through the soil.

"<When you've lived for as long as I have, youwill be careful with the words 'possible' and 'impossible'. He may have perished. If Fae Lords can die at all, he would be the most likely to do so. He may have faded into obscurity, forgotten and scorned, until nothing of him remained. Then again, he still appears in mortal legends... even after those centuries, they still contain slivers of his memory. It might be enough to keep him alive.>"

"<It's interesting to think he could still be out there. Plotting man's downfall. Something to watch out for, at least,>" Adir says, shrugging. He likes Old Man Forest's laugh. It is a good sound. Skye looks between Trucido and the door, bewildered. Hack...must mean some other thing too. Nexusian is the worst language. She stands away, wouldn't want to suggest that she's getting to close to the lightsaber.

How she reacts to the turret depends a great deal on what it's shooting at her with. If it's firing blaster bolts or whatever, they should all just veer away from her and Trucido. If it's firing bullets, she just lets them hit and bounce off. If it's launching small poisonous frogs, she dives behind the doorway and tries to burn them.

Trucido didn't realize she was having a language barrier problem, and was thusly annoyed at her for no real reason. Plus his emotional manipulation is causing his negative emotions to go out of control. However, his lightsabers are flashing quickly as soon as the turrets fire down. However, he connects with nothing for the blaster bolts are deflected into the ground by Skye's mystery powers. The turrets fire at intervals of five seconds, which means you have to destroy them in a tiny amount of time.

Trucido raises his hand and causes one turret to explode and crush itself, leaving himself open and the other turret functioning.

Here, in the world of mortals, we are born when a breath from the Fairest of Lands seeps through the boundaries and mixes with the natural elements. "What kind of mechanical traps are these?" asks Ray. He thinks to himself that it seems a bit odd for a sorcerer to use machinery in his evil lair.

"Tripwires and pressure plates. I will illuminate our way."

The ghost claps her hands together in front of her chest, and her faint silver luminescence brightens a lot, pushing back the shadows in the tunnel. Shining up ahead are a plethora of metal pads and hair-thin, glinting wires strung across the passageway.

You can manipulate it? Even at that level and speed? ...Impressive... He then moves forward to enter the place further. This was a large room containing four doors which were labelled. When will EVIL learn that telling a Paladin to back off never works? It's a class feature that they can't back down from a fight with dragons or demons. Like the sticks that are constantly with them. Especially when a damsel might be in distress. Sure, this damsel was a male cultist that was stuck in a window, but as far as plot lines go, that's pretty damsel-y.

Who else would panic and try to flee from the fight by crawling through a window far too small for it? Then again, the Damsel could very well apply to the cultist's mother in this case, though that's less damsel-y and more...more...Mom Next Door?

...

Let's just stick with the cultist being the damsel and get back to the point.

Despite his attacks being practically ineffective against the summoned demon, Aequitus doesn't back up a single step. Even so, he knows that a monster glowing is generally a Bad Event, so raises his shield in front of him right as the newcomer appears. He doesn't question it, putting it to Divine Intervention and simply positions himself between him and the demon despite the energy shield. "Immune to holy magics and physical attacks cannot harm it other than breaking it apart momentarily. Also sucks the heat away from anything it touches." ((I am a moron for forgetting this for... what is it? Months? >.<
So sorry. :smallfrown:))

The two pokemons will suddenly be sent out again after spending an unknown amount of time inside their pokéballs. They will find themselves in what appears to be in some kind of gladiator arena shaped much like a amphitheater. The ground is dirt and at all sides they're surrounded by walls with an small audience of grunts on the stands.

They might note there are a few more pokemons and grunts sharing the arena space with them, it appears they're training against one another.

"Two new pokémons? Impressive. But can they fight?" A voice suddenly calls. If they look up they can see a masked man standing on a balcony build into the arena. His mask and clothes are different from the grunts which probably means he's some sort of leader.

"Of course! I'll love to challenge anyone!" Well, it sounds like it's Ardent and Seviper's new master Vallery standing behind them. She's once again wearing her grunt mask as the rest of the grunts in the arena.

"Then you and J shall fight a dual match. May the best trainer win." The leader states as one of the other grunts bows and then approach Vallery and her two new pokemons. He sends out a Azymarill (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Azumarill_(Pok%C3%A9mon)) and a Drowzee (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Drowzee_(Pok%C3%A9mon)). "Neither will we! Right guys?" She looks at her two new pokemons, hoping they're ready for a fight.

The demon must have figured Aequitus for a real quitter. :smallcool:

[B]"Another one?" The demon asks before four missiles of pure light suddenly manifests from it, two which steers towards the paladin and two which steer towards Walrdorf. The projectiles are the opposite of it's heat consuming property. Instead they emit intense heat hot enough to melt steel like butter.

The projectiles are attempting to attack the back and the front of both of them, but it's likely the two coming towards Aequitus will be blocked by the shield Waldorf manifested.

The two aimed for Waldorf eliminate two of the triangular shields, but thankfully the reactive magic saves him from the heat. He doesn't bother conjuring more, relying on his remaining stock of them to protect him while he considers Aequitus' words.

"I see." It's a fight, so keeping things short seems wise. He doesn't have time to protect the paladin from the shots heading his way in any case, so he can't afford to waste any more of it.

What he can do is belatedly cast a temporary enchantment on Aequitus' blade, provided the man allows it. It's a rather powerful one, akin to the "fire and forget" reactive shields he provided himself with, but it won't fade with use, simply after a set period of time. With it, any energy sent at the paladin can be countered with his sword, as it will now convert kinetic force into the type of energy necessary to nullify what comes at him. The heat-draining effect would be met with enough heat from the sword to protect Aequitus' own body heat, and these rays, if any more are forthcoming after the first two, would be rebuffed by an aura of sheer cold before reaching him.

Of course, this relies on him surviving the two that got through in one piece, and knowing that he can now use his sword as a magical defense.

Aequitus has no objections to the spell being cast, especially since he has to intercept the two rays that weren't blocked by the shield. As such, he slips past his new companion and swings his shield into the path. When the two rays hit, the shield flares for a moment before electrical cracks can be heard as they break through the protective wards on it one by one. By the end of the first ray the shield is glowing dull red, but the second completely destroys it, causing it to run like butter all over the Techno-Paladin's arm and hand. It hadn't been mere steel, but even so it was far from that sturdy enough to take two hits like that.

The Techno-Paladin deserves some credit though as despite what's likely a horrific burn beneath his armor, he doesn't make a sound, instead turning back towards the demon and swinging the injured arm through the air at it, sending droplets of molten shield at it in a show of defiance before raising his injured arm to act as a shield itself and rising his sword above his head, level with the demon.

Both the demon and Waldorf might sense a cold fury from the Paladin, as if the demon had made a very grave mistake in destroying that shield.

Huh. Must have been dear to him.

Once the sword is raised the Techno-Paladin lurches forward quickly, injured arm in front of him and intending to slash horizontally through the cloud that makes up the demon.

Monsters across from her. Some kind of... Ardent Heart isn't even sure. She has no context for them. Somewhere behind her she hears her Master (love her, obey her, serve her) speaking. Something about... fighting.

The base is rather sparse indoors, with remnants of Borg tech still being removed. It's not so damned hot and humid in there anymore, though, and they've got decent lighting working. So that's a plus.

The mess hall in particular was largely irrelevant to the Borg and their interests, so they mostly just stuck a bunch of alcoves in it and called it a day, or...whatever comparable time unit the Borg use. DC certainly doesn't know.

The place is rather nondescript, really. Cross has taken a seat already. DC has as well...and is still wearing that armor, including the helmet.

That would mean the player notic that it is Irish.

Not enougth to melt the ice immediatly, but enougth to forget that you stand in an ice desert.

Arkant puts both on the creature under him and at the same moment he touches it, awave of energy starts to puls through the body of the creature. His skin that was isce blue, changes into a darker color. It appears that the wave reanimaes the body.

A few minutes will pass until the whole body is reanimated . The creature starts to howl up. The ground it lays on shaking as the creature beginns to push himself up from the ground.

Derek will gladly hold her hand and kiss her back, though not too passionately since they have other things to keep them busy then kissing right now. "I'm sure they are somewhere close by. They probably wanted to go to a safe place to hide out till we got back. Any ideas where they might hide, a cellar or attic, maybe somewhere outside?"

"I don't know If I can spread myself that thin" Ray admits. "I mean I know I did it with the armor but that was only for a split second. Leo watches as Ray's aqueous form slips smoothly past the traps and reforms on the other side. His brow furrows at the sight of blood oozing slowly through the teen's lips; he regrets suggesting a feat that has obviously strained his friend, even if it has seen him safely across. The spiritualist prepares to cross and grips his staff tightly in both hands, holding it horizontally across his chest to keep it in control. Thankfully, the ice from the first trap has melted by now, reducing the risk of catching one of the tripwires with it.

Leo takes each step with extreme caution, his eyes constantly darting to and fro to remain aware of the traps positioned nearby. There are a few close calls, but he should be able to barely make it through the traps without triggering any of them. At one point, his foot might graze one of the weight-sensor plates, but he will realize his error just before resting his body weight on it and step elsewhere, avoiding the trigger by a hair's breadth. He will hold his breath as he continues through the passage, praying that nothing should topple him...

There's a clink from the plate, and a single droplet of oil oozes from a concealed hole in the wall. It appears he only just managed not to trigger the trap.

The ghost floats over to Ray and gently puts a spectral hand on his shoulder. Warm waves of energy flow out of her and into him. They should heal him significantly.

The passage continues on for a while without further incident, but starts to narrow dangerously. The walls are jagged, and for meters at a time it's barely a foot wide, necessitating a sideways crab-walk to get through.

Leo's heart stops at the echoing sound of mechanisms working behind the walls as his foot nearly falls on a trapped tile. Seconds tick by like hours as he anticipates a fatal reaction, but the only sign of change is a barely-audible drip as a tiny droplet of some viscous substance hits the ground near the wall. The potent smell indicates some form of oil, most likely fuel for a flame-based countermeasure; Leo thanks his lucky stars that the trap seems to have remained dormant, as he is naturally vulnerable to burns and would have been roasted to ashes within second if it had gone off. Once the spiritualist clears the trap-riddled passage, he stops to catch his breath and to check on Ray. To his relief, though, their ghostly counter-part has already glided over to aid him with her healing powers. Despite being no stranger to ethereal forces himself, he can't help but be impressed by the specter's skill; she possesses superb healing talent, and he wonders if she was so able in life as she is now.

Leo will give Ray a minute or two to recover before taking the lead, stopping only when he notices their tunnel starting to constrict upon them. "This doesn't look good," he mutters as he notes the sharp edges jutting out from the walls ahead. "Better not lose balance in there, or the walls will turn us into swiss cheese...I'll go first, check for traps and make sure it's safe to navigate." So long as both Ray and the ghost girl agree to this plan of action, Leo will approach the tapered passage and try to get a better look at the path ahead. His attention will be focused on the spiked walls first, but he will also examine the floor and ceiling for any indications of traps or other significant features...

Well, I'm not certain if the creature has gone through the portal, so I'll divide this into two sections.

If the creature has, it and Arkant will find themselves in the Clouded Void, in a patch of hot, dry air with small flecks of sand being carried on the wind. Nearby is a long, cylindrical building made from interlocking blocks of limestone and dotted with small arrowslits and murder holes; each end is crenellated, and several creatures like the bodyguard are patrolling the outside. Jessica is pushed away into a computer and can't react right away. But the grunt is punched and used as cover. Mawile can easily find his stun gun and take it. There actually isn't anyone between her and the door if she likes to make a run for it, all the grunts are standing around her in a half circle at the moment.

After a good hour and a half the Mekhnaiad rejoins them. She's out of uniform for the moment, which can probably be excused simply because of the ordeal she's been through, but also for the fact that she'd need another fire-proof uniform and they probably don't have one on hand so quickly.

Overall, she's vastly different than how she used to be. Her wire hair is much longer, about shoulder long, and tipped in spiked lead balls the size of marbles. And since she's wearing just pants and a tank top, it's easier to see how her coloring has changed from bright blue to dark green on her hands and feet that blends to a turquoise core. The once-glossy glass like finish to her skin is dulled and it even seems she's had to rivet small plates of titanium to herself, particularly over a spot on her shoulder, appearing like a bandage for a gun wound.

If the two think about it, that's precisely what it is.

Her left arm is also quite a bit larger than the right, overly muscled even, and instead of a normal hand ends in what appears something like a powered claw despite being made of the same material she normally is. Her jaw is also a bit more square. Her mirrored face is also changed, but instead for the worse. The mirror is cracked and she appears to only be able to open her right eye halfway.

Finally, when she turns away to get food from the mess line, they'll see a pattern of randomly sized shards etched into her back, each a varying shade of blue that form the Irregular's symbol.

After a bit she returns with two platters completely heaped with food ranging from mashed potatoes to spam to fried chicken to spam to tacos and even more spam.

Looking it all over, she gives a pleased sigh and a small smile. "You two have no idea how much I missed this. Sirs. Especially the Spam." She admits as she starts dumping maple syrup on all of it.

"...your magic?" Quinn asks, frowning, then closing her eyes. Reaching to put her hand against Melody's forehead, her lips whispering a prayer.

"Neirian, please show me what has happened, and how I may put things right."

Quinn is shown a vision of the "fight" between Melody and some old man Quinn doesn't recognize.

A shimmering blue barrier stands between Melody and tOM, with his invisible magic pushing against it. After a moment, he raises one hand up and the cave begins to rumble, then a moment later, the rocks begin to fall.

Weakening, the shield begins to flicker and fade. The older sister, Estia, runs out of Melody's protection and starts hitting the old man, Melody reaches out to grab her by instinct, and the bubble breaks, allowing the rocks to fall.

But with her magical sight, and Neirian's assistance, Quinn is able to see the illusion Melody had created, that the rocks fell and crushed the pair, but also the reality that some of the rocks did indeed make it through.

Melody pulls Lyanna in and covers her, until one of the rocks cracks Melody's skull, knocking her unconscious.

With blood oozing out beneath even the illusion, tOM sees that Melody is dead. Placing a hand on top of the now mollified child, he uses her as a conduit to pull Melody's remaining magic from her corpse into Estia.

The vision releases Quinn.

Lyanna is looking up at Quinn with big round eyes. Melody is asleep.

"Would it help any if I said I'm just trying for leads as to bringing someone back who was hit with a Truespeak god-deleting spell? I mean, if having it all at my fingertips to sift through isn't an option...

No, ****, the Nexus is after a proper plot here, isn't it? Making me jump through hoops and whatnot to reach my goal, making a quest out of it. It'd be too much to ask that you knew a reversal word that I could just shout out like the Dovahkin and make everything right again, there has to be some kind of struggle, some kind of adventure. Can you at least put me on the right track? Ruins in another dimension to explore with that sorceress, an endless library full of deathtraps to trek through?"

Magtok knows that whatever comes next, it won't be easy or simple. The things that matter never are, for some reason. The Nexus really gets a kick out of watching him wallow in despair and helplessness, but he's not going to waste any more time griping about that. He's just going to grit his teeth and go through with whatever the world sees fit to throw at him next, carry himself through this with as much dignity as he still can.

"Kind of cliche, I guess, when you think about it that way. But desperation makes even demons worse.
Um, but aside from that, there isn't...quite a reversal. But there should be a way close to what you want? If you can get Lady Libitina's name, her True name, it's possible she could be recreated back into the world?"

Magtok seems unbelievably relieved when he hears it's just some demon's trick, and not actual True Speech. It makes his quest sound a hell of a lot more plausible than it did a few minutes ago. I mean, lost causes are fun and all, but only when they're happening to other people. Greek tragedies aren't nearly as enjoyable when they're happening to oneself.

"I wasn't aware demons were ever anything but desperate. But sure, that sounds like a plausible starting place. Do you have any further wisdom to share, or is the only lead you've got for me?"

Magtok makes a mental note to steal any convenient glossary of deity True Names Feia might keep, assuming the AI has no better ideas. It wouldn't be too hard to commit the magical word to memory and then sneak around behind the dragon lady's back to resurrect Libitina, would it? I mean sure, there'd probably be some nasty consequences, but since when did our cyborg ever really care about those? He always saves his worries and concerns about the end results of his actions for after they've already happened.

[Not Having A Great Day] ((Closed Scene))

A steel carriage moves down the country road at a steady pace, drawn by two annoyed-looking destriers. Still, they stay hitched in spite of their preference for actually being ridden (and trampling their enemies underhoof, too). A bit further back, sharing the drivers' seat, are a pair of Knights of the Templar Order of Thedas (http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/9255/gmapocalypse0008.jpg). They're suited in plate-mail despite the impracticality of that for normal travel, but they're currently watching the road and their combat discipline is such that they must be ready for an attack at all times. It helps that the armor is lyrium-inscribed for comfort so that they could sleep in it if they wanted to. One of the two Templars is busy holding the reins, but the other has a crossbow at the ready, just in case.

They're chatting with each other.

"So, Fortinbras, admit it. She's kinda cute, right? I mean, under the scars and all."

"Hans, she's an Apostate. And possibly a Maleficar too. She's the enemy."

"So?"

"Maker, spare me this man's foolery. Please."

"Lighten up, Fort. Have you ever even just, you know, sat down and talked to a Mage? I mean, they're people too. Sometimes they're crazy people who need to be put down for their own good and the good of everyone around them, but still. People."

"I'd like to remind you, Hans, that we only got this one by the element of surprise and a dose of gas. We haven't a clue what she's capable of and I'm not keen on finding out."

"You know, if you're so dead-set on antagonizing everyone you come across, that last villager mentioned something about a Sorcerer in these parts. We could storm the place and bring back two mages, couldn't we?"

"Don't be a fool. There are only two of us and we're barely even Knights. You're talking about attacking a mage with unknown capabilities on their home ground without the slightest clue what we're doing. That would be suicide.

No, let's focus on taking this one back to the keep and then we'll put together a larger force to deal with the unknown."

Hans just shrugs, and cracks the reins on the horses.

"Whatever you say, Fortinbras. Just trying to figure out what makes you tick."

"All you're doing is making me ticked off, Hans."

Adir raises his eyebrows. He feels he may have just gained a powerful ally, if he should ever need one. Happy with how that turned out, he swivels on one heel and pads off through the freshly fallen snow.

Not Having a Great Day

A bird will try to land on the carriage and listen to the conversation. It... Looks a bit like a bird, anyway. It's completely bereft of feathers, with the build of a rook and a pair of webbed, bat-like wings and pallid skin. It will listen to the conversation for a bit, before trying to hop closer to the knights and opening its beak. "You will soon be entering the territory of Master Agrapp na-Klopath. Change your course and you will survive. Or carry on, and meet a gruesome demise... If you are lucky. Raahk." Well, when it talks with its own voice, rather than the pre-recorded message from the Sorcerer, it still sounds like a rook.

'Jormund' hisses with annoyance at his new name, before complying with his order to Bite the Drowzee. He'll attempt to use the attack to move closer to the Drowzee's trainer.

Oldale Town Ruins- it didn't have a lab, but it did have a PokeMart & PokeCentre.

There's four crumbling ruined buildings arrayed so they roughly make a square. Two have completely collapsed. One is a shell, with its blue-tiled roof collapsed into its body. The final building is two storeys tall, though the top floor has collapsed from age. The ground floor looks as though it may be safe to enter, however.

In the centre of town is a rusting sign, similar in design to those dotted all over Hoenn though much older. There's a small patch of significant radiation near one of the destroyed houses, but otherwise the ruined settlement is relatively safe.

Exactly. :smallwink:

The only place I can think of is the cave near the Mermaid's beach. Jezebelle says, pointing back to where she was first kidnapped.

[Yep, Bad Day All Around]

The bird isn't noticed until it speaks, and simply landing atop the carriage is easy enough. At that point, though, both knights jump to attention! It takes a few seconds for them to properly get their bearings, allowing the message to get out, before Fortinbras lifts up his crossbow and attempts to simply shoot the mutant passerine. After all, they're Templars, and they know better than most that accepting an apostate's terms is more often than not suicidal.

Regardless of success, the crossbow-wielding Templar shoves his ally's shoulder.

"There's definitely a Maleficar here, and there's a good chance he knows we are too! Hurry up before the Shades start closing in!"

Hans is way ahead of him, though, pulling forth the carriagemaster's whip and spurring the horses onward! The carriage itself speeds up, as Fortinbras winds the crank on his weapon.

"I know, Fort. I heard it too. Just keep any pursuers off of our ass and I'll get us out of here, don't you worry."

Meanwhile, in the locked-up cabin of the carriage, a silvery dagger slips out of a carefully-hidden pocket, and gets to work on the bindings. Prometheus' chemically-enhanced antimagic supernet couldn't hold her, after all, and simple rope doesn't compare well to that.

Aequitus slides his blade through the air in order to hack a the closest part of the swarm even as an idea comes to him. "Hit the DeViral with both extreme heat and cold at the same time! It can only do one or the other!" He shouts back to Waldorf while hoping his guess is right.

"Ignorant filth, you should just lay down and die." The demon states in cold fury as it suddenly is back in the room it attempt to get out from. Like an angry swarm of bees it emits an humming sound as the spheres that makes up it's being changes form subtly. They change from perfect spheres into sharp little needles which starts to split and and swarm Waldorf and Aequitus. They might be able to counter attack before this happens however.

For a moment "Y" seems hesitant. Her new pokemons didn't look happy at all. But then again they were newly caught, she just had to train them more.

"Come on, it'll be fun!" Fighting was fun!

"Are your pokemons ready or what?" J asks, sounding impatient.

"Calm down already, they need a moment." "Y" Turns to look at them again. "Erm, why don't you start with biting that drowzee, Jormund!" That's apparently aimed at the Seviper. "Ardent, you use flame charge at it!"

Pokemon Lab

The grunt is tazered and falls to the floor and as expected they return fire the next moment. But it's not just grunts that's trying to hit her, a number of water beams are likely to slam both Mawile and the poor grunt she uses as cover into the wall.

"Wait, stop shooting! You'll kill him!" Another grunt calls out in the confusion.

Mawile can almost feel the evil glare Jessica gives her as she get's up from the floor. "I will promote the person who give me that filthy things head on a plate. Plus 5000 $!" Oh dear.

Littleroot Town

Jessica and a few team iron grunts arrive here to have a look around. Their pokemons and stun guns are already out as they're expecting trouble.

"I'll consider it." Waldorf quips sedately as his remaining triangular shields move to not only intercept the swarm of spikes, but surround them just as they're about to hit and encase them in a spheroid cage. While that reactionary defense activates and hopefully traps half the demon, Waldorf conjures a solid plane of force between the assault and Aequitus, one that's flexible and should act like a net that may fold around the shards that hit it and bunch them together, perhaps in time for Aequitus to swing at the mass of spikes while they're held in one place.

[Vault Disk]

"...wisdom is in letting go.
But I don't think you will."
There's a sort of wistful expression here, remembering something that doesn't matter to Magtok at all.

"Whichever easy way out you see, take it seriously, okay?
They're not omnipotent, but the gods you deal with are...um, tied into how reality is. Taking them out and putting them back in without thinking about it will have consequences.
Keep that in mind?"
If he didn't have pleading eyes, Xe could have been dangerously close to serious here.

This probably also isn't the kind of wisdom Magtok was after.

"Alright, done. Got as much information as I'm getting out of this thing; you can do whatever from here. Need a hand with getting back to Inside, or should I just teleport home and let you take care of that?"

Wow, that's...surprisingly generous of you to offer, Magtok. I can honestly say I didn't expect that kind of politesse and civility from you, especially given all the death threats you were throwing at everyone earlier. :smallconfused:

There is no comment or retort against Magtok.
Emotion and logic are rather separate things, Xe knows full well.

Despite the circuitry, the cyborg asking him all these questions seems to be more on the emotional side of things than anything else.

Three more of the mutant birds fly down nearby. "Final Warning. Raak. Final Warning." The three rook-things croak in unison. It's really creepy.

"...Also, there is no need to formally address him. He is a contractor and supplier, not someone with authority over any of us," Cross points out.

Blu gives a small nod as she's stuffing her face with food and coffee. After a few large mouthfuls and swallows she wipes her mouth before finally talking. "Alright. I suppose I should start at the beginning with what happened after I blew my power cells." She starts before cringing and looking at DC. "By the way, I don't advise linking a half dozen together to overclock your ship's systems, even if she can handle it. The rift is the result of causing a reverse flow to a single cell. Wiped out the Borg ships though." She adds with a grin before continuing.

"I believe the only reason I wasn't instantly destroyed was either because of a brief moment of stability or simply because I was in the dead center of it. Perhaps both. Next thing I know I'm inside what appears to be a tunnel shifting lights and swirling colors. Felt like I was in there for days but for all I know it could have been minutes. When it was over, I crashed into a jungleland filled with Orkz." She admits, raising up her Klaw to show. "Several attacked me as I was in the process of repairs, but I took out a few of da Biggest and claimed a role as MekGirl. I know, I know, it was probably stupid to be assisting those things, but I didn't exactly have much choice. They wanted to go through Da Rift as they called it but they were primitives and lacked the technology to build airships let alone spacecraft capable of surviving that sort of stress. I had to actually advance their tech level by centuries just to get things available for repairs of my own. I was glad that there weren't any other races on the planet, but there were still warring factions of Primitive Orkz. Luckily once I gave them their own guns they were able to stabilize the region under their control. After three months of steady work though, I finally got a crude set of engines and plasma power supply going. I had to attach it to my ship in secret though since Teeftaker (the Warboss) didn't take kindly to me wanting to leave. Even so, I was finally able to depart even though I was under fire. Even though some preemptive explosives took out their biggest weaponry, they still damaged my ship so I ended up crashing. Again." Blu admits with a sigh.

"Questions yet?"

Instead of making another aggressive move, the Templar holds the weapon at the ready; he knows that he'll be a sitting duck and probably waste his shot anyway if he fires now. Hans, for his part, keeps the horses going. It's pretty impressive, really. Destriers are horses bred for war, and more often than not rather hard to control. Being able to manage two at once (pulling a carriage, no less) is nothing short of miraculous.

Leo follows behind Ray, watching as tiny spiders skitter away after the blast of water; as much as he disagrees with such a reckless act, he can't argue with the result of flushing out the threat. His opinion changes quickly, though, as the few spiders soon join with countless others and form a massive throng of arachnids. A chamber opens up ahead before long, and a cocoon of webbing dangles from the ceiling; as they approach, Leo can see a number of glowing red eyes staring coldly at them from within.

"Oh...crap..."

At first, Leo can't think of anything else to say. He and Ray have overcome a number of obstacles already, but if this creature - whatever it was that spoke to them from the silk sac dangling from the chamber ceiling - decides to attack them, he fears that they will not escape with their lives.

So long as he can answer before Ray decides to attack the nested creature, Leo will respond to its query, "We're just passing through, trying to get to the gemstone Kharuzar placed here." Diplomacy may be a long shot, but Leo will take any chance he can get at avoiding a fight with this beast.

The flock of crow things don't attack; they aren't designed for combat against armoured foes wearing gear as heavy as the Templars, and aren't strong enough to puncture steel. They do keep up with the carriage, however; serving as a marker letting their master and his other creations see where the intruders are and react accordingly.

This is why, quite a distance ahead on the road, two very slow-moving monsters are moving into position. They resemble tortoises, with short legs and a heavy bone shell encasing their bodies, but their scaled heads are shaped like a bear's, and they are larger than a brown bear. There's an odd bulge in their throats, and if the wagon tries to pass between them they'll open their mouths and attack, uncoiling a massive, frog-like tongue ending in a hefty, bony protrusion. The tongue travels very quickly, and the bear-tortoises are aiming for the skulls of the horses- should it hit, it may knock them out, or even kill them; their barding may lessen the blow, however.

Standing nearby is a tall, robed figure with a pair of dogs standing next to him- they look like Irish deerhounds, if deerhounds had elongated canine teeth resembling those of a smilodon and hedgehog-like spines amongst its fur.

Are you really sure? I think we can make this worse. Somehow.

Ah, I suppose that's fair. I did more or less the same thing when I was younger myself. Unfortunately, most American books about the medieval and classical periods that are considered acceptable for children are either romanticized or censored to the point of inaccuracy, so I had to unlearn much of it later.

Anyway, luckily for Hans, he's smart enough to know that if there are two monsters setting up on either side of a road, it's probably a trap. And so he takes the carriage off of the road, trying to go around the Bear-Tortoise-Frog-things. Still, he's moving too fast to completely divert his path, and he's still in range of one of them by the time they pass.

Fortinbras fires his second shot, trying to hit the throat-bulge on the nearer monster because it looks like a weak point, but even if he hits, it's not fast enough to prevent the tongue from nailing one of the horses on the side of the skull. The animal isn't killed by the blow, nor even knocked out, but it becomes discombobulated and loses its footing, ending up under the wheels of the speeding carriage, which proceeds to fall onto its side in an unfortunate but spectacular series of events.

The templars are thrown a few meters away from the wreck, but they're lucky enough for their armor to absorb most of the force. Neither is seriously injured and they're moving to stand up and dust themselves off, but the Sorcerer and Friends have an opportunity to capitalize on their advantage.

[DUNGEON OF KHARUZAR]

While Ray waits for the Red-Eyed thing to make a move a plume of water surrounds surrounds him and Leo. The back of the plume forms into multiple copies of the water explosives which are then lobed haphazardly behind him, in the hopes they will kill as many of the spiders as possible.

((Ooh were finally at the climax! I'm so excited :D ))

Melody's Island

Quinn pulls back, shaking slightly, although from what is hard to say. But she does smile when she sees Lyanna's expression, and gently reaches out to brush the girl's hair.

"She'll be alright. She just needs rest. But you'll need to be a big girl for her for awhile, alright?" she asks, before closing her eyes and reaching out with her mind, trying to see if she can pick out where Melody's magic might have gone.

It sounds angry.

Trucido isn't paying close attention to the corpse. He's looking about around the room deep in thought, wondering if it'd still be possibly to connect a hologram conference with Darth Viris from such an incredible distance. It would probably be a very weak connection, but as long as it's there. He'd have reinforce-movement. Trucido senses a bizarre third force in the room a few short seconds before it rises. He moves near Skye and activates his red saber, Scorpio. He assumes defensive position and frowns as Skye sends a blast of fire towards it. Who and what are you?!

The corpse waves a hand negligently, and the bolt is deflected. Its movements quickly become more fluid and coordinated as it steps towards the pair, and by the time it reaches them, it's far more graceful than most living beings.

"I am Rage. Or a part of, anyway. I've been trapped in here for a long time. No hosts, nothing to do. I've been waiting for someone to turn up. I'm disappointed that you refused my offer, though - being my host has great benefits. You would be far, far stronger and more powerful than you ever were before. Even this body..."

Yeah. Walking corpses... Back in his planet undead were very rare. The only real threatening kind was a bizarre parasite that used a corpse as a walking host. Rage didn't look like a parasite though. Trucido will not let the thing come any closer to himself or her. He knew a dangerous entity when he saw one. He grimaces as the corpse falls sickly to the ground like some sickly creature of death. He remembered the genetic experimentation that the old Sith had done after the first Galactic Empire. Experiments on people to create clone soldiers that did not eat. Did not drink. And didn't live. Undead.

The experiments were highly disturbing and Trucido never liked reading into them. This... thing reminded him of those days for some strange reason. But, he had more immediate things to ponder. Anger. Hate. Love. A dominating will to succeed. Emotion. Not simply anger. You are correct though, a Sith's power can fuel from anger. As my partner said.... What do you want? There's always a catch to power.

Well, At Least It Isn't Raining. Yet.

I haven't had to unlearn anything as I've never studied mediaeval history as anything beyond a hobby. So much of my historical knowledge is likely inaccurate to some degree.

The crossbow bolt hits the tortoise-bear's throat and lodges into the thick, armoured scales and possibly the tongue behind it. The creature roars in pain, or possibly just discomfort.

"You were warned that trespassing meant death for you, and everyone. Resist, and die quickly, or surrender, and bend to my will. Or run, and hope you can outrun my pets. I recommend you surrender; I need pets with military experience." The Sorcerer motions for the dogs to stay behind before casting off the outer layer of his robe. Beneath, he's wearing a pair of denim jeans and a long-sleeved red cotton t-shirt. His face is horribly disfigured; his violet left eye is a good two centimetres lower than his icy green right, and his black hair is patchy, reaching to his shoulders in places. He seems to be unarmed, too, though he has a confident air about him that suggests he isn't very squishy.

Mawile is pushed into the wall. Oof. Now, the next part is tricky.

Mawile uses her full Strength to launch herself off of the wall. The unconscious grunt will be pushed aside to spare him any more damage, and Mawile should launch through the opening in the grunt circle to the other end of the room, where the glass is.

A mid-air twist should permit her to land a Crunch on the glass. She doesn't except it to break, she expects that Team Iron knows about bulletproof glass. She expects to hang from the newly cracked glass by her maw.

If stun guns take as long to load as net guns do, only the Pokemon will have a chance to fire... putting more stress on the glass.

Basement

If Waldorf's plans work, Aequitus will swing his freshly enchanted blade through the mass, hoping to damage it with his sword but not truly believing that it's going to do much. Even so, he isn't going to give up the fight even if becomes hopeless.

Basement

The paladin actually seems to have managed to have damaged the shards making up the demons body as in their current form they are far more vulnerable than as perfect spheres. He swings and breaks a number of them apart. The rest of the shards start to change back into spheres and spread out now that their enemy actually can damage them.

"Meaningless. You have accomplished nothing." The demon states despite being damaged and starts to glow in a new green energy which is neither cold nor hot. The entity is actually attempting to perform a hastened gating which only Sovoght demons can do. If this succeeds the demon will return from wherever it came, or technically it's armor will return. The demon is already there, being at two places at once.

Mawile is not terribly fond of water. She can take smashes, stones, bites, and psychic attacks (not to mention that poison is utterly useless against her) but for some reason water of all things hits her full force. Not to mention that she sinks like a rock, but that can be kind of fun with properly-sized scuba gear.

She's sure there's some science behind it, but she's been around scientists long enough to know that they don't know what it is.

That's not important. What is important is that right now she can use giga impact. What good will that do? She launches herself backwards, trying to launch through the glass... into the device. A giga impact hitting a machine is generally enough to wreck it... and often things standing behind it, depending on how sturdy and thick the machine is.

I suppose you're right. Could be raining fire. Or it could be Chubby Rain.

Yes, it's true that it doesn't matter as much if you're studying as a hobby. It's still kinda shocking at times how the material will go into detail on the construction of weapons and armor and how troops are equipped, and then completely gloss over their actual use. Similarly, the kids' books tend to gloss over just how foul and gruesome the Middle Ages could actually be sometimes.

Anyway, those tortoise things seem pretty tough! Yikes. Hans and Fortinbras stagger to their feet as the Sorcerer delivers his final ultimatum, but their actual response might be somewhat unexpected. Fortinbras starts to crank his crossbow again, while Hans does something entirely different. Namely, he reaches for the sword at his belt with his right hand, while thrusting his left palm outward!

The sorcerer might find himself beset by a Lyrium-powered Veil Disruption! In layman's terms, it's basically an antimagic burst that attempts to use a mage's reserves of magical power against them, coupled with a psychic shockwave that tends to disorient everything without a strong will in a short radius. Of course, since your sorcerers aren't really traditional casters and likely don't have much in the way of "mana", the effects might be minimal.

In order to hunt mages, the Templars have their own magic, of a sort. This is one of the more potent applications of it, and Hans is actually fairly powerful. Fortinbras is the better fighter of the two, but Hans has the stronger will.

Meanwhile, in the carriage, Sarah slips free of her bonds! Now she just has to climb out of the overturned and locked carriage. Obviously the door facing the ground isn't going to budge, so she tries climbing instead. The lock isn't going to give way, but it's just steel. A few blows from her dagger is enough to "pick" it. She doesn't have enough time to actually make her escape during this post, though.

Chubby Rain Sounds Like A Reference To Something, But I Don't Get It

I'm focussed more on the construction and parts. 'Parts' being the hilt, blade, fuller, pommel, crossguard and so on of a sword, or the haft and head of a spear; that sort of thing.

The tortoise things are designed to be tough. What they aren't designed for is speed, so they're very slow. They're also really hard to make.

The Veil Disruption causes the Sorcerer to stagger, and briefly lose control of his pets. The dogs bound away, circling around the Templars and trying to hide themselves in the available cover. They blend in very well, and activate a camouflage field, making them harder (but not impossible) to spot.

Melody's Island- Mermaid Beach

It'll take them a little time, but eventually they reach the beach where Jezebelle was initially kidnapped. The cave is within sight.

With a sudden burst of enthusiasm, Jezebelle lets go of Derek's hand and begins running. Estia! Lyanna! I'm home! Mommy's home!! she calls out as she gets closer.

Derek is about to say something about calling out possibly causing a trap to spring. Then he figures if there is a trap staying quiet probably won't help them avoid it. Plus calling out is probably going to help them find the girls faster then any other way. So he jogs after Jezebelle keeping a slightly nervous eye on the water.

[DUNGEON OF KHARUZAR]

Jets of hissing acid spray from the cocoon, intercepting the water explosives.

"I will ask that you do not harm my children. I regret that you seek the gemstone, for I am bound to guard it. I wish it were not so, but Kharuzar healed me from the brink of death long ago and I must obey his wishes, though he is long gone, for those runes he inscribed on the wall command me and my brood. All I can say is that the gemstone is in the center of this cocoon. I wish you luck, for now I am bound to fight you."

A truly colossal spider emerges from the cocoon, lowering itself to the ground on a strand of web. Its head alone is the size of a car. Its fangs drip green poison that sizzle as it hits the ground, and each eye moves independently, two each focused on Ray and Leo and four scanning the surrounding terrain.

Leo grips his staff tightly at the creature's words, prepared to defend himself, but he nearly drops it as his arms go limp with shock at the sight of the gargantuan arachnid. Its sheer size is enough to send a jolt of terror down the spiritualist's spine; the cocoon's real bulk must have been hidden in the shadows, or it would never have been able to house such a large creature. The acrid stench of fulminous venom stings his nostrils as the beastly spider's maw drips with the stuff, gagging him. Leo mentally weighs their options as quickly as he can, but the situation seems quite futile: the spider stands directly between them and their prize, and it could easily make short work of him, if not both of them; its multiple eyes would allow it to keep them both in its sights at all times; they will be unable to talk it down from fulfilling its obligation; and escape seemed like a futile gesture. Things certainly look helpless...

...but then, while looking around the room, Leo gets a crazy idea. He looks at the runes on the walls and notes the spider's words about how they command it and its ilk to act in Kharuzar's service. "Ray," he asks slowly, "how tough do you think these walls are...?"

It is (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowfinger), but apparently the reference source didn't do so well Across the Pond

I suppose that makes sense, since Tortoises' whole evolutionary scheme in real life is being tough but slow.

Anyway, if Templars have a single weakness, it's enemies that attack from stealth. They're trained to take down fairly flashy Mages, unsubtle Demons, and occasionally mind-controlled goons or hired mercenaries that get in their way, but skulking sneak-attackers usually only fit into the last mold and even then only rarely. The fact that they favor highly-protective visored helms that greatly limit their peripheral vision doesn't exactly help. So yes, they manage to completely miss the hound-beasts slipping behind them.

Still, though, they aren't stupid. Far from it. Especially since Blade greatly prefers playing small squads of semi-competent to competent troops rather than nameless masses of cannon fodder, simply because they're both easier to manage and more likely to actually accomplish things. At any rate, Hans feels a little bit drained after that attack, since it takes a lot out of him, but holds his sword to the ready. Fortinbras, of course, perhaps correctly reasons that the creatures are taking orders from the Sorcerer, and tries to just shoot him.

For the record, Fortinbras' crossbow doesn't have any special properties. It's just a well-crafted late medieval military crossbow.

Sarah, for her part, is currently pulling herself out of the top of the overturned carriage. Physical exertion isn't really her thing, but she has the endurance to hold herself there and slowly pull herself up. For the reasons outlined above, the Templars do not see her. She looks pretty surprised by the battle raging here, though.

I've Never Heard Of The Film. Doesn't Sound Like My Cup Of Coffee, Either

The Sorcerer has repaired his mental connection, so he's able to control his pets again. Just in time to be hit square in the chest with a crossbow bolt, too.

The armour-piercing (it's a crossbow; that's what they do) bolt, at such close ranges, should be a fatal wound, and the Sorcerer falls over... But quickly stands back up, the crossbow firmly lodged in a reinforced rib beneath a layer of thick scales. "That hurt. No more warnings; you die." One of the dogs rips from the undergrowth, lowering its camouflage as it does. It will try to jump on Fortinbras' back and push him to the ground, before using its sabre-teeth to stab through the platemail and into the Templar's spine. The other dog stays hidden, and the bears do nothing. Agrapp na-Klopath turns to Hans and smiles.

One of the bat-birds lands on the carriage and looks at Sarah. "You. Stay. Rrraka!" The change in its voice is quite startling, as it changes from pre-recorded verbal message to natural enunciation.

Isn't it silly how we're having an unrelated conversation in the location tags?

Fortinbras goes down, and assuming that the beast's teeth can get through a layer of steel, is left paralyzed/dead from the blow. Hans, for his part, backs up slowly, holding his blade close, eyes darting between the Sorcerer and the creature that took down Fortinbras.

He's not especially worried about the tortoises, since he's well out of their range and doesn't expect them to suddenly speed up, but the Deerhound-thing just demonstrated the ability to kill his friend and ally quite efficiently, and the Sorcerer's capabilities are unknown (and probably quite powerful, given that he basically just shrugged off what should have been a killshot).

Hans has figured out by now that his chances of winning here are fairly slim, but his chances of survival are still fairly high if he makes a hasty retreat. Still, he's not dumb enough to turn his back on the hound, and knows he won't get far on foot in these woods...

...so he holds his weapon out, ready to parry and counterattack whatever comes his way, as he backs up toward the horse that didn't get crushed to death under a speeding carriage. If he gets onto that, he might just be able to get away alive...

...Of course, he's unaware of the second hound.

Sarah raises an eyebrow at the rook, but doesn't run off. She knows that she wouldn't get far anyway, and whoever this is, he's cleaning up a Templar patrol, which makes him an ally. Kinda.

"Who in Andraste's name is this?"

Earl of Purple

Yes, But We Know Where We Mean And I was expecting you to mention my choice of idiom.

The deerhound thing has very strong and sharp teeth, and it's purpose is to do what it just did. But now, it's hungry, so Fortinbras better hope he's dead. Or at least, can't feel whatever part of his back the deerhound is trying to reveal by using its fangs like a tin opener.

He should know about the second deerhound; it was with the other one next to the Sorcerer when they crashed and right up until Hans used his Veil Disruption thingy. What he probably doesn't know is where it is.

A bat-bird tries to land on the head of the surviving horse and will try to peck its eyes out, gripping the destrier's mane or the edge of its barding if necessary.

"Last chance to surrender. You won't survive otherwise. Don't worry, I don't want to kill you- I need a creature with military knowledge to gather supplies, and my magic won't let me alter memories. Bodies, yes. Well, as you can see. Minds, yes, but only to install utter loyalty and slavish devotion to me. You'll be harder to kill- rather than wearing that uncomfortable plate, you will have thick scales capable of stopping a crossbow bolt, like me. Improved musculature, so you can run faster than ever, and with better lungs so you can run for longer, too. Instead of that unwieldy sword, you'll have claws, and enough independence to control my other pets. If you want to keep the sword, though, you may. Same with the armour; one can never have too much armour, I've found. What's a bit of free will compared to life and improvements, hmm?" The Sorcerer approaches slowly, arms out. He doesn't make joining him sound very appealing, either.

The bird talking to Sarah replies. "Agrapp na-Klapoth, Sorcerer and master of this area. Rraak."

Can't be too predictable, can I? Besides, my brother is quite fond of Tea, so naturally some people in the UK have to like Coffee. It all balances out. :smalltongue:

Well, if he wasn't dead before, he certainly is now.

Also, I managed to forget that he did in fact see both hounds. Oops. In that case, he's also looking around for the third contact and coming up short.

The horse itself manages to shake free from the carriage-hitch just as the the rook lands on its head. Naturally, being a warhorse, its natural response is to start bucking and shaking to keep the thing from getting a decent grip. If THAT doesn't work, it proceeds to run over to the nearest tree and attempt to simply crush the attacker. In any case, it's not especially receptive to being ridden right now, and is currently trying to get the heck out of here.

Hans watches the fleeing horse with a feeling of despair, and falls to his knees as the Sorcerer gloats. Then, he summons the remainder of his will, and shouts out:

"Magic exists to serve man, and never to rule over him!"

Hans rips off his own helmet, revealing a fairly average-looking face, before muttering, mostly to himself:

"And Blessed are they, who stand against the Corrupt and Wicked but do not falter..."

Assuming he gets that far without having been interrupted, he attempts to draw his sword across his own throat. Zealotry is a hell of a thing.

Sarah just watches curiously.

"Huh. Impressive."

My Family Doesn't Drink Tea At All; I Only Started Coffee Last Month We ran out of hot chocolate.

Now the horse is running, the bat-bird flies off, objective complete.

The tortoises start slowly walking over to the carnage. One will stop at the deceased horse and begin eating; if necessary, it will push the carriage over- probably onto the roof rather than the wheels. That's the one with the bolt in its tongue-sac. The other heads towards the dead Hans, to eat him. They're big, but spend a lot of time in hibernation as they need a lot to eat.

The sorcerer pulls the quarrel from his chest with a slight grunt and casts it aside; he's bleeding slightly. He'll approach the carriage and Sarah before bowing and possibly helping her down before the tortoise arrives. There's quite a while. "My name is Agrapp na-Klapoth, Sorcerer. I hope my pets impressed you, my dear, but they are but trifles. Now, why were you locked in that cart? I mean you no harm, I promise, though don't try attacking me. Those armoured chaps managed to beat you, and here they are, dead. A waste; I should have tried harder to capture one. I really do need a good general. C'est la vie. I only started Coffee in my Penultimate year of High School, when my screwed-up sleep schedule was becoming a serious problem

The pets start eating! It may be worth noting that Hans' blood is infused with processed Lyrium (http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Lyrium), which is addictive to humans and part of how the Templars are kept under control, since their church controls the Lyrium trade. However, it does have some genuine beneficial effects: In true mages, it replenishes mana, while in nonmages it builds up in the blood and provides some defense against magical attacks. In extreme cases like Hans', it can even allow a nonmage to practice some simple but potent "anti"-magic, as demonstrated previously.

Crushed Lyrium dust in runic form is also used to enchant the armor they're wearing, and would have a similar effect were it to be eaten. In general, though, unless you're already magic-resistant like the Dwarves or cut off from the Fade like a Tranquil, carelessly handling Lyrium is a good way to end up senile or a vegetable.

Anyway, Sarah is helped down! By this point she's already hidden the knife back up her sleeve (it comes in handy quite often), and appears unarmed.

"Pleased to meet you, Ser Na-Klapoth."

It's entirely possible that the two are operating on different name/title systems that don't cooperate all that well, but whatever. :smalltongue:

"Your, erm, pets are impressive, I'll grant. I've never actually seen their like, except for a few maddened ghoul-beasts twisted by the Blight, and I've definitely never seen one of those kept under control.

Anyway, I'm Sarah Threinhold, and those two were Templar Knights. Mage-Hunters. I suspect they have a fortress somewhere in Outside, but I haven't a clue where."

The surname is a fabrication, but it's a consistent one that she's used elsewhere.

Since they had you, chances are your previous accommodation has become compromised; would that be a fair assessment?" Chances are good, yes. The 'na' denotes 'son of', and shouldn't be capitalised. Actually, I just made his name up on the spot.

Just as a reminder, Agrapp's face is visible, and it's very distorted, with one eye lower than the other. Don't worry if it occasionally changes; I'm not too good at keeping track of these things. His left, lower eye is violet, but his right, upper eye is icy green.

I've never actually eaten a Mince Pie. I'll have to try it sometime.

Sarah's not overly concerned with appearances. After all, she's been forced by circumstances to associate with some shady and downright criminal individuals before, many of which tend to be not-very-pretty considering the vaguely medieval setting she's from, where ugliness naturally tends to be associated with evil anyway. Which just creates something of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

As for the Templars, these were pretty much rank-and-file troops, though of different classes. They're certainly not to be underestimated, but she probably could have taken either of them in a straight fight. They won by ambush tactics and numerical superiority. Also because Hans' Veil Disruption is much more effective against traditional mages than it was against Agrapp, and left her completely unable to cast spells for several seconds.

"Interesting. I'll come along. Besides, I don't know how long I was unconscious for, and might be quite far away from home anyway."

True, but as Agrapp said- he has a village. The flock of birds, two hounds and two tortoises aren't all his pets- just the ones he thought he needed.

"Where do you live? Might be I you can return soon. If you want, anyway. You're welcome to stay as long as you like, though." It's rare that he gets a conversation partner that doesn't have to agree with him when he gets angry.

The Sorcerer will turn and walk into the undergrowth, leaving the abominations unto nature behind to feast upon the corpses. He might try to catch the horse later, but maybe not. Hidden amongst the undergrowth is a fairly well-trodden path, and this is what Agrapp is using.

Never mind, though; they're dead, we're not." Agrapp turns and smiles; it's quite disturbing, and it shows several sharp fangs.

There's a short walk to the village; it's a cluster of fifty single-storey shacks. They're crude and haphazard things, poorly maintained and likely only a single room inside. The village, judging by the size of its buildings, likely is home to roughly a hundred adults. The village is built in a clearing of the forest, and lacks an external wall- chances are the forest is enough of a deterrent from invaders when combined with the various creations of the Sorcerer. In the centre of the village is an old watchtower. It's only five storeys tall, and quite slender. The roof is flat, topped by a crenellated wall.

Still, things do seem to be looking up; at least the brood mother isn't evil, even if it's being driven to kill them by Kharuzar's magic. Ray seems to have caught on to his plan, which seems more viable now, but a problem occurs to the spiritualist as he glances at the runes around them. "Hang on a minute, Ray," he shouts to his companion. He turns his attention to the walls of the chamber, checking them for structural weaknesses; a blast in the wrong section could bring the ceiling down on top of them. The thought also occurs to him that, if the enchantment runs through the runes on a magic circuit, a single "interruption" in the right place could open the circuit and negate its effects. If so, then exploiting this weak point would be the best choice in the interest of ending the struggle quickly.

The understanding is not helped by evolution stones, which can cause evolution on contact, various other items that cause evolution when mixed with electricity, and CERTAINLY not Mega Stones, which seem to flaunt the rules of evolution just because they can.

Mawile is holding a Megastone, you might remember. A megastone in a situation with a genetically unstable Pokemon? While at first glance it seems bad, what is worse is that there is only half of the equation needed to cause a mega evolution. The other half is the Keystone... which is missing.

The end result is that while the Mawileite is going to interact with Mawile's DNA, it is not going to do so properly. The end result is... bizarre. (http://plus4chan.org/boards/pkmn/src/128167932248.jpg)

Mawile passes out as the evolution starts. It's a mercy for her... while probably not painful, that was unlikely to feel good.

After quite a while the sealed doors open up once again, revealing a group of individuals clad in gas-masks and protective clothing entering the chamber. They're using energy detectors to see how much of the bio energy that remained within the room. It quickly broke apart once released but some particular types of it could remain in the air or the walls for quite a while.

They move slowly into the now dark room, their breaths rather audible in those masks.

Ray slowly dissolves the water explosives without incident then eyes Leo nervously. "You better think of a plan quick man" he says anxiously. Ray then frantically checks his surroundings. If these baby spiders are sapient, than that means that he can't kill them like he would if they were just beasts. No Ray has a strict no killing policy when it comes to sapients. He hasn't always been able to follow this self-imposed code, but he has no intention of breaking it today. But this also means he has to be very careful where he uses firepower, an errant move could end up maiming some of these innocent kids. He looks around trying to find a location that the mother spider will not be able to follow.

Plus calling out is probably going to help them find the girls faster then any other way. So he jogs after Jezebelle keeping a slightly nervous eye on the water.

Derek's slightly nervous eye notices something moving toward them. Looks like someone is coming near.

Trucido nods. Yes, that. I'd really rather not end up dead. You magnify ones powers? That could produce obscenely terrible effects upon me. The stronger you are with the Dark Side of the force, the more physical effects the power produces. Using too much of the powers of the dark side can rot away your skin... Your being... That is why I cannot use it all that often and in great lengths. If we were to bond... and I couldn't control the power overload, my body could scar terribly... Or even disintegrate. Such is the risk of becoming one with the dark side.

The result is a large explosion, which will leave any nearby geiger counters clicking briefly from an unhealthily large dose of radiation- it had sucked up quite a bit of Radon, a radioactive gas, and until that dissipates it will irradiate any too close to the point of detonation.

But wait! It's not an image. Quinn, unless she wasn't teleported by Neirian, drops into the ocean about 30 yards away from the nearest beach. The tide is calm, and the water not too cold.

Also, if teleported, she'll find that she's no longer wearing what she'd been wearing when she appeared on Melody's Island, but a rainbow colored one-piece.

After Dipsnig and Rilla exit the tunnel, sun will have set and light snow will have started to fall. Upon getting back to the surface, Dipsnig will lead his girlfriend up a hill. When they've climbed to the top, she will see that the hills stretch for quite a while, getting higher and higher until they reach a mountain range. The landscape in front of them is dotted by dozens of bonfires, with little, big-eared figures and various temporary structures surrounding them. The bonfires provide quite good visibility for an Asura, so Rilla will see that more goblins are pouring out of tunnel exits across the hills.

"We're just in time," Dipsnig says. "What you see down there is our winter celebration. Goblins from the whole branch of a colony gather after dark to set off fireworks as a way of thanking both our gods for the long nights and short days. It's always quite a show, and I've heard the alchemists from the Underside colony have outdone themselves this year. I've prepared a nice spot here for us to watch the show."

Investigate how? It's clearly an altar in the forest near a road. The area around it is cleared of trees and shrubs, instead having short grass rather than the more usual thick undergrowth of a forest. The altar doesn't respond to being approached.

Ruined Factory

This factory complex comprises a single large building standing within a tall, crumbling concrete wall. There's a pair of gateways into the facility, though the gates are scattered bits of rusty steel in the paved courtyard of the facility. Beyond, there's a pair of pillboxes on either side of the road into the main building- the road slopes downwards, as the factory itself is partially buried. There's several other pillboxes dotting the courtyard as well, and nine anti-aircraft guns sat in emplacements between the pillboxes, though the guns themselves are currently missing. The factory's doors are large, heavy, titanium- and closed. They are held shut by a series of electrical locks operated by old number pads built nearby.

"You did not answer my questions about the creature's ability to procreate." Mortality can be useful, especially with bio-weaponry. Most demons are semi-mortal; capable of reproduction, but don't age after maturity. They rarely bother reproducing with each other, though.

"Pazuzu was not born a deity- He crawled out of a Demon Spawning-Pit as a minor demon-form millennia ago and went about gathering power and prestige until He deposed His predecessor and became the Demon Lord of the Sky. Technically, He is not a god, though His power is certainly god-like and far above what lesser demons possess. I, too, crawled from such a pit, though the pit from which I emerged was in truth a roiling black cloud of dark energies and foul vapours, and I appeared then as I appear now." That last bit is not quite true- this individual demon has been granted more essence from Pazuzu, absorbed several lesser demons and morphed his body until it met his desired shape, making him truly unique rather than a variation of a standard form.

Oldale Town Ruins

This (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Radiation) is the type of radiation- it won't last long, and won't be enough to reach mild radiation sickness and some types of Pokemon may prove immune to it (Poison types, maybe Steel, Bug or Rock as well, though Water and Ground may prove especially vulnerable due to radiation's habit of contaminating them).

The radiation won't last long, and much of the radioactive material is cleared by the Defog. Now the Grunts and their Pokemon can enter the old PokéCentre unopposed, but there's still a colony of Zubat roosting- possibly hibernating- against the roof.
