So, adapting a scenario that ngilop kindly worked up, I'd like to have an encounter with several halflings riding wolves they've reared themselves. The catch: they need to be first level, since this is part of a scenario designed for very low-level PCs.
They will be strongheart halflings, with one level of either barbarian or fighter, and I'll give them one flaw. This gives them three feats if barbarian, four if fighter.
One option I'm considering is to give them the basic feat-chain of Mounted Combat, Ride-By Attack and Spirited Charge, which encourages them to use lances to be most effective.
However, I've had some good suggestions to the effect that there should be bolas and nets involved here. Would this be as simple as replacing Spirited Charge with EWP for bolas or nets? Or is there a better way to approach this idea?
