Odd grey rules question.

Per magic jar, your body is dead for the duration of the spell. Let's say You need to infiltrate a castle and choose to magic jar yourself in a secluded place, and grab the body of a castle servant to infiltrate the castle with. Several hours later, a random cleric discovers your original body- dead- with no reason to be dead. Baffled, he casts Speak with dead on your corpse to find out what killed you.

... what happens?

My short list of possibilities is:

A: "you" say you're not dead, you just cast magic jar on yourself to storm the castle.

or B: Does the spell fail because you're only MOSTLY dead?

Technically you are dead so the spell functions, but the soul containing your consciousness isn't in your body. The cleric would get the last brain state of your mind before you died to interrogate. It would likely tell him the full set of whys.

B: Does the spell fail because you're only MOSTLY dead?

This.
When you transfer your soul upon casting, your body is, as near as anyone can tell, dead.

Similar language appears in flesh to stone, although it there clarifies that a petrified target is not in fact dead.

The spell would just fail, speak with dead says "One Dead Creature" as it's target, you aren't dead, therefore it doesn't work. If it targeted a corpse, it would be fine, but it specifically requires the creature to be dead.

This gives the cleric in question enough information to roll on his knowledge skills/spellcraft and/or wait for you to return.
