Okay, I realize there was a also a dagger involved in today's strip...but I can't help but feel like panel eleven (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0934.html) is a reference to panels four and nine here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0017.html). That's a ten year callback, y'all. That's class.

Yeah, but what are the rules involved for sundering a magic weapon. (wasn't it a +3 Keen?) I believe it should be a tad more difficult and tarkie just zipped right through it. Talk about impressive.

Didn't he get a new rapier since then?

From the SRD:

Magic Weapons (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/magicWeapons.htm)
Hardness and Hit Points

Each +1 of enhancement bonus adds 2 to a weapon’s or shield’s hardness and +10 to its hit points.

I didn't see anything about specific minimum enhancement bonuses to damage items, but I vaguely recall something similar. It may have gone the way of the dodo after 3.5.

Edit: Indeed, this is the wording from the 3.0 SRD:

Hardness and Hit Points
An attacker cannot damage a magic weapon with an enhancement bonus unless the attacker’s own weapon has at least as high an enhancement bonus as the weapon or shield struck. Each +1 of enhancement bonus also adds 1 to the weapon’s or shield’s hardness and hit points.

I feel like if it were an intentional reference then the "snap" sound from the rapier would have been a "sunder" sound instead.

Didn't he get a new rapier since then?

Twice. The one Haley found, and the one Julio gave him.
