Is there a list of races with no HD floating around? I know there's one for races with +1 and +2 LA (and no HD), but since I've been given one free source of level adjustment (as much as I want), and I want to start at level 1, I'm curious is anybody knows if there's a list of races with no HD.

Alternatively, is there a list of templates with level adjustments? I've looked at the Crystal Keep file on templates, and that seems a pretty good jumping off point, but it's incomplete.

If you're a Good character, then I'd very much advise the half-celestial template (taken in conjunction with Magic in the Blood).

Hells, even if you're not, half-fiend is pretty good too.

I've used this before.

Check out this template list (http://community.wizards.com/forum/previous-editions-character-optimization/threads/1117261).

Thanks for the template list; the Master Races List, however, doesn't really help me for what I'm trying to do.

Does this one (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1281.0) help? It's organized not only by LA, but also by HD.

Kind of, but again, I'm looking for things with massive LAs that I can stack class levels onto, without having Racial HD, so while the list is informative, it's not quite what I'm looking for, as everything on the list is pretty much LA +0.

Take the Vampire template. Play Lawful Evil. +8LA, no HD.

OR Unholy Scion. +5LA, no HD.

As far as I know, the highest LA race with no HD would be Pixie at +4LA.

I'm going vampire, I'm going Shadow Sun Ninja route with Water Heritage, to neutralize both the water weakness and the sunlight weakness.

Unholy Scion's my preferred choice at the moment, but I'd rather start with something that I don't play often.

You could slap Vampire Lord (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mm/20021018a) on your vampire, get rid of the water weakness and reduce the sunlight weakness.

10 levels of Shadow Sun Ninja would give me an array nifty abilities (including self-heal), and be a vampire immune to the sun, while the swim speed from Water Heritage would pretty much eliminate the water weakness. Meanwhile, Vampire Lord has no LA (not LA +0), and thus isn't suitable for player use (from WotC's own words).

If you want to abuse your free source of LA as much as possible, you could go paragon creature (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/monsters/paragonCreature.htm).

Alternatively demilich could be fun, unless your DM considers lich and demilich to be seperate sources of LA(which they are, but semantics.)

Actually, can't stack on Paragon, seeing how it has no LA.

Could have sworn it had a printed LA of something ridiculous, like +18. Must have been thinking of something else.

Paragon has/is supposed to have a Level Adjustment of +11, which you can calculate for yourself using the table on page 156 of the Epic Level Handbook.

Because WotC is very, very silly, that information wasn't part of the template's description and hence wasn't included in the SRD. The same goes for the other templates in ELH.
