Create Spawn Question

My Necropolitan Hexblade has the Assume Supernatural Ability feat for both energy drain and create spawn. He recently used alter self to turn into a wight and summarily killed a number of prisoners he was holding with his energy drain attack, and they proceeded to turn into wights under his command. My question is: does he maintain control of them even when he is not transformed into a wight, or does he need to control them via normal means when in his normal form?

He maintains control. He is the same creature that created them and the Spawn remain enslaved until the creators death. Since you haven't died the control doesn't break.

Although once you die they don't come back under your control upon being resurrected.
