How do I delete my account?

I am not super web-savvy and I don't see the option for deleting my account in the control panel area.

You almost certainly can't actually delete it. It needs to stay in the database so any posts you wrote still have an author. Why not simply log out, leave, and never come back?

2 reasons, both pretty silly when you get right down to it.

1. While I have come to dislike the forums, I will certainly continue to come back for the webcomic. As long as I have an account, I'll be tempted to post and end up getting annoyed again.

2. I don't like leaving unused accounts lying around. No logical reason, it just bugs me.

Go to some online password generator like this (http://www.techzoom.net/tools/password-generator.en).
Generate a long, complex and almost impossible to remember password, and copy it via CTRL+C.
Go to some temporary email provider like this (http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html).
On the boards, go to Edit Profile -> Change Email and Password.
Replace your current email with the temporary one.
Change your password with the freshly generated one.
Copy something else to refresh your clipboard.
Save the new settings.
????
Profit!


This way you'll be locked out from your account with no possible way to access it again without admin intervention: by all purposes it will be as if it belonged to somebody else.

Sheriff: Rawhide can post if things have changed or if he has more detail to share, but you cannot and we do not delete accounts. Either log out and do log back in, or use some more complicated method as noted above.
