Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 251 through 260.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on December 16th, 8pm EST. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, :roy: 250 Oh no, he DIDN'T! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0250.html) told everybody just what it thought about the award process. In so doing it wound up winning the award by historic margins. Go figure. :smalltongue:

Tis the season for spreading merriment and cheer. And also, apparently, voting for which strip is deserving of....

#254 for all the wizards who must not be named and because huddles are fun. Special mention to the Wile E. Coyote plan and the giant cards blocking Xykon's view.

Carries on from the awesome of #250, plus with a nicely done Gilligan cut. I'm usually averse to references to the whole D&D thing, but railroad plot is vague enough that I'm not rolling my eyes. Shout out to Roy's angry rant in #260, and Nale's deadpan snarking in #252.

I was deciding between 251 and 255, but I find

255

better.

258: I Think That Violates the Geneva Convention. Somewhat to my surprise, none of these stand up super well after I've read them over so often, but I think that one might be the most cleverly written.

Nale's "To Do List" really cracks me up.

I had a tough time choosing between the two comics with rocket skates, but #255 wins for me because of the sugar bag.

I really like 255, Nale's plan is just truly awesome! But maybe because it is the directly follow up to the strong 250, I'm going with 251 - A Piece of His Mind - especially Belkar's line in Panel 1 is just a nice addition :)

257.

I've always loved Nale's last sentence in 257, but my buck here is on 253.

It encapsulates in so many ways the disfunctional nature of the Linear Guild: Nale's overly complicated plans, his lack of regard for Thog, his caring for Sabine (making sure the scissors won't hurt her!) and his calculation that he'll survive this ridiculous scenario; Thog's wacky lines; rocket-skates; and the anvil.

Some good choices here... I'll go with... 257.

I've gotta go with 255. Nale's plan is just too good.

Hmm. There have been better sets, but I think I'm going to go for 257, with an honorable mention for "Stupid railroad plot" and "I be a healer, not a footstool!"(damn it, Jim!).

257. It has rocket-skates and an awesome quote! What's not to like?

Bunch of fairly good ones here, but I have to go with 253.

I just realized, as an interesting trivia, that this #253 strip marks the first individual thread:

Close vote this time. As for me, it's a toss up between Nale showing that he is indeed an Evil Genius vs showing that he does indeed have limits to his depravity. Hmm.. While I really like the Dion joke, the Wile E. Coyote homage is just too good to pass up.

255 it is.

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:nale: 255 Meep meep! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0255.html) is the winner this week. It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
