For a wizard or sorcerer...

Take:

Now you've got an at-will short range trip spell. It costs you a trait and a feat to do it though...seems like it might be a neat trick to fall back on for absolutely no daily resource usage.

If you can get your DM to allow it, and have a feat and trait to spare, then I would say yes.

Sustainability is generally the problem that spellcasters have, so having a nice little trick like this that is unimited use would by no means be a bad thing.

It makes for awesome roleplaying situations. That being said, I would check the overall power of your build and then allow/disallow the spell.

Slapping Hand is 3rd-party, you didn't mention that so I wanted to be sure you knew. Otherwise yeah, this works.

I'm not sure if there are any official force damage cantrips out there.

Yup, aware it was third party.
And there aren't any first-party force-cantrips.

Toppling Spell is fun in general. It keeps low level spells useful a long time. Hey, Magic Missile now knocks down 5 people with great reliability.

It's also fun with spells like Spiritual Ally/Spiritual Weapon, which allow you to break the action economy with the feat.

Note that Toppling Spell says "the target" so some DMs may only allow you one trip per casting.
