So does anybody know of any good oots monologues? Can't really find any, but maybe I'm missing one.

As a medium, webcomics don't really lend themselves to lengthy monologues. The closest thing I can think of is the closing arguments for the Azure City trial. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0282.html).

There's Xykon's power speech (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0657.html) while he's hunting for V.

There's also Roy's speech in #442 to consider. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0442.html)

THere is the one where the villainous mage monologues before team evil kills 12+ in their sleep. ;-)

Are you just a fan of verbal incontinence, or do you need it for something specific?

I am just a loser and have no better activities than searching for monologues in one of my favorite webcomics.

I suppose, technically speaking, Shojo's entire exposition in the Crayons of Time (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0273.html) could sort of count (if you ignore the minor party comments). Redcloak's explanation to Xykon in SOD also work.

You know, I've never been able to fully read those. :smallfrown:

Do internal ones count? (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0046.html)

You didn't miss anything. I usually skip over them, too, but once I forced myself to read them. Ugh.

You should. Particularly Celia's has some interesting points.

EDIT: Oh, and on-topic: It seems Xykon gets some of the best ones. I really like the already linked power speech and his speech to Dorukan and Redcloak in SoD.

The power speech may be my favorite one in the entire comic, and of all things it comes from the one main villain who isn't some scheming Lawful Evil mastermind, but rather the Chaotic Evil interested in a vague "Rule the World" scheme.

Or, to put it another way, The Idiot With a Ton of Power.

I don't know where you come from, but normally people make a pretty harsh distinction between a monologue and a dialogue (aka conversation) :smallwink:

Well I guess I should have opened up a new thread, eh?
Nah.

In the interest of further prolonging this conversation, does anyone know what the longest monologue in OotS is? We could measure by several different criteria - word count, character count (with or without spaces), or number of panels.

This seems like a good quiz question, if I only knew the answer.

Hence the "also," I would wager.

Does Redcloak to Tsukiko count?

Redcloak killing Tsukiko was one of the most intense moments in the comic IMO

I don't think anyone's mentioned the ABD (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0627.html)'s Bond (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0628.html)-Villain (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0629.html) style speech to V.

EDIT: I think all of the major "monologues" in the comic usually occur at a dramatic moment: the courtroom closing arguments, Xykon's "lesson" to V, Roy's speech to Xykon, the ABD's speech to V, etc. Nale's dramatic speeches tend to be interrupted by Thog. :smalltongue:

I seem to recall Rich mentioning somewhere that sometimes the characters engage in something like philosophical discourse, only with swords and spells to settle discussions.

If you enjoy words, why not Wordplay (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0761.html)
