My team wants to put together their own custom insignia, similar to the drow ones.

They suggested 3 spells at least 1 use per day: Prot from Evil , Globe of Invulnerability, Heal. With a contingent teleport back to home base upon death.

Most of the House members that will be given this are mid-teen levels and higher.

Feedback on design/spell selection/pricing perhaps?

I have concerns with the following:

Teleport upon death - What if we are 3 levels down into a dungeon crawl and one member dies. We win the field after the battle but now have no tank cause he died and is automatically ported back to base.

I think a dispel option should be included but I am not sure how to add that most effectively...

Do these numbers work?

Starmantle Insignia – prot from evil, globe of invulnerability, heal, teleport trigger@20th / 15th level
- Protection from Evil - lv1 Wizard spell@20thx2000gp= 20000gpx2 for min/level duration = 40,000gp
- Globe of invulnerability - lv6 Wizard spell@20thx2000gp= 240000gpx4 for round/level duration= 960,000gp
-Heal - lv5 Cleric spell@15thx2000gp = 150,000gp
-Contingent Teleport : Death - lv 5 Wizard@20thx2000gp = 200,000gp
-Multiple Abilities - lower cost by 1.5???
-Must be House Member -50% cost
Cost: 1,350,000gp -50%= 675,000gp - 1.5? = ???
Time: 1350 days

Lessee…

- Protection from Evil - lv1 Wizard spell@20thx2000gp= 20000gpx2 for min/level duration = 40,000gpSince you're multiplying the cost with the duration, I assume this is supposed to be a continuous effect, which makes me wonder why you'd bother with CL 20. Are summoned creatures really such a threat in the campaign?

- Globe of invulnerability - lv6 Wizard spell@20thx2000gp= 240000gpx4 for round/level duration= 960,000gpContinuous Globe of Invulnerability seems like an overkill to me, and I'm not sure the resistance to dispelling justifies the price hike from CL 20.

-Heal - lv5 Cleric spell@15thx2000gp = 150,000gpAt will Heal?

What sort of challenges are your PCs expecting to tackle?!

I hadn't really ever "priced" it out like this so I might be confused on the options. I was using the DandD Wiki numbers...not sure if there is an easier way?

Continuous sounds like alot of overkill...3/day maybe?

Cl level, I was going for max duration there not realizing i was pricing out continuous at the same time.

Corrections? Suggestions on alternate spells/powers? Math lessons? :)

Command word item: spell level x caster level x 1,800 / (5/uses per day) gp

So Globe of Invulnerability 3/day at CL 9 (the minimum) would be 6x9x1800/(5/3) = 58,320 gp.

I assume the insignia sits in neck slot, so there's no extra for uncustomary space limitations (for protective spells). Otherwise you'd multiply by 1.5.

Adding several effects, you multiply the cost of all but the most expensive with 1.5 (there are specific exceptions, but none apply to the spells).

Still, these are mere guidelines. A better idea would be to look at what the item does, and how much it's actually worth.

So for unlimited on-use options does this math work?

Starmantle Insignia – protection from evil, globe of invulnerability, heal, teleport trigger
On Use - Protection from Evil - lv1 Wizard spell@5thx2000gp= 10000gp
On Use - Globe of invulnerability - lv6 Wizard spell@12thx2000gp= 144000gp
On Use - Heal - lv5 Cleric spell@15thx2000gp = 150000gp
Contingent Teleport : Death - lv 5 Wizard@5thx2000gp = 50000gp
Must be House Member -50% cost
Cost: 354000gp -50%= 177000gp =
Time: 354 days

No, no, "use activated" doesn't mean what you think it means. A magic sword is use-activated: "character has to drink a potion, swing a sword, interpose a shield to deflect a blow in combat, look through a lens, sprinkle dust, wear a ring, or don a hat". Best I can tell, you want the item to be command word (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/magicItemBasics.htm#commandWord).

Also, to add Contingent Teleport, you'd need to pay for both the Contingency and the Teleport.
