So I bought Don't Split the Party from Ookoodook. The book begins from 490- no introduction, no title page. There's no "round 1", the first bonus content is with "round 2."

Is that how it's supposed to be? Or was there a problem with the binding?

Thanks.

Yeah, sounds defective. I just looked at my copy - yours is missing quite a bit from the beginning.

Maybe take a picture and send it to ookoodook to show them what happened? They're really nice and I'm sure they'll send you a new copy or something.

Yes, printing errors happen, but I'm sure you can get a replacement for free

Or keep it as a unique collectible.

It could be worth a lot someday.

Which page is it supposed to begin with?

Which page is it supposed to begin with?

DStP begins with #485, if I'm not mistaken.

There's a "round 1" page with Rich's notes and an introduction too right?

Yes, and a nice multicolor relationships page, and the intro by Roy.

Yes. You have a dropped signature (16 "pages", 8 leaves). This isn't unusual, one of a class of problems called bindary errors, involving some sort of screwup when the individual signatures, which is what comes off the presses, are folded and assembled.

If you flip through the book you may find a run of 8 leaves repeated somewhere too. Not necessarily, but usually if there isn't something like that to bring the book to the right length quality control will catch the fact the book isn't the right thickness because it doesn't go into the binding properly.

And yes, if you bought a book new with this sort of problem, any reputable publisher will replace it.

You may be able to sell it on Ebay for enough to buy a new copy, too. You would likely not be selling it to someone without a copy, as well, so it wouldn't detract from the authors wallet. And since you would be funding another purchase of the book, who cares if you did? Okkoodook and Rich still make their cut.

I'm just saying, there are probably people out there who would get a kick out of having a misprinted OOTS. Worth considering.

Tech support: Have you tried closing and opening the book again?
