Oh dear. That explains the delay, though.

Probably between 197 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0197.html) and 198 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0198.html).

Has to be when he sliced his thumb. He communicated with us quite a bit about that, though, so point being there's no need to get fidgety every time there is a long-ish delay. If it is going to be terribly, terribly long, I'm sure he'll communicate it. Otherwise, I'm sure it isn't worth letting yourself get too bothered about it.

Besides, in the grand scheme of the universe, of aeons stacksed upon aeons marching ineffably into eternity, what's a week?

I'm pretty sure the longest gap was the INTENTIONAL gap after

Is that what Belkar's complaint means in 198?

Nice interpretation. I think when Roy was in Heaven quite some in-comic universe time passed too (I think the Archon said a few months).

For the thread question, I think the longest gap was between strip 1 and before strip 1, ~13 billion years went by! And not as much as a single excuse either. Or that's what imagine, seeing I didn't fall for this web comic until around the Darth V arc.

Seven days.

And Roy's line about, "...if SOMEONE hadn't sprained their wrist" is a meta-reference: the delay between 197 and 198 was because Rich had sprained his wrist.

Going by the Discussion Thread Index (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103669), it was #794 to #795.

Wow, looking at 863 & 864 it looks like the thumb wound didn't even last a month. That's some very very impressive healing right there.

Oh, well I figured that one went without say. :durkon:

I was pretty sure vigilante moderation was also against the rules.

There's also a thread of people worrying if he need more money to fix his pc, but rich stated over and again that he'd rather people just buy his merchandise.
Anyway, if you didn't follow his twitter account, he also said that he was 80% done with the new comic (a double page, no less) and he's trying to salvage that data. in any case, he prmised to post it by the end of the week, at worst by drawing it again from the laptop.

Boy it sure is. Thanks for pointing that out.

As a matter of fact, it says:

Vigilante Modding
If you're not a Moderator, don't act like one. Rich has selected a few people he trusts to keep an eye on conversations here. Please refrain from chastising other posters over breaking the rules, especially concerning minor things. The proper response when you see someone breaking these rules is to report the post as discussed above or to a PM to the local Moderator. At most, you may courteously link to this announcement. But whatever you do, do not tell other posters what to do, what rules they have broken, that they are spamming, etc. Posters who do so will be issued an Infraction for their actions.

Emphasis mine. I think you'll find a link to that announcement in my courteous original post. There is a link and a copied/pasted quote and that is it; nowhere do I myself state anything about the rules.

I feel comfortable saying this since it comes from Rich's twitter feed anyway: There will be a new strip this week, even if it has to be redone from scratch, (https://twitter.com/RichBurlew/status/412666613985320960) but don't expect it especially soon because the hard drive it was stored on is well and truly dead, and the backup didn't back it up properly. (https://twitter.com/RichBurlew/status/413001866184622080) He's going to re-start work on 935 tomorrow (Wednesday). (https://twitter.com/RichBurlew/status/413011408712761344)

Arg, it's so annoying to redo work you already did because of an informatic failure of some kind.
Let's make a kickstarter to create a device that automatically every second saves any new data in your pc in ten different hard disks, stored one in each continent or on the bottom of the sea, in underground bunker under deserted areas that are totally void of any strategical interest that may justify military action that may end up damaging the stores. Primary objective of the kickstarter will be to gift rich with one of those backup devices.

Actually, I think it was between strip 4 and strip A (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=15709954#post15709954). I mean, strip A was immediately afterwards, and we still haven't seen it!

794 and 795 with a shocking 5 weeks!!!

But other than that only 2 strips have been past the 15 day mark, excluding the two 3 week book breaks and the thumb. Those are 690 and 691 (17 days) and 858 and 859 (22 days)

For all its against-the-rulesness, this thread was colossally useful, bless its little heart.
