Best Melee Precocious Apprentice

What do you think would be the best 1 level dip for a melee build that is going to take 1 level of spell caster with Precocious Apprentice?

Also, obviously, what spell would you take?



If your choice is teir one, can you also give your opinion on a good teir 2 choice?

Duskblade can get you Dimension Hop or Swift Fly, both of which are solid mobility spells, and can be cast in light armor to boot.

Battle Sorcerer (UA variant), again for light armor casting, and grab Alter Self for sheer utility, or Wraithstrike because... well, Wraithstrike.

Beguiler: unlocks Find Traps and a bunch of useful skills (UMD and tumble). Useful if your melee can qualify for Able Learner, has enough skill points, and you want to also act as a skill monkey of some sort. Comes with a reasonable selection of automatic spells known. For my 2nd level spell I would probably take invisibility.

Dread Necromancer: take Tomb Tainted Soul = Unlimited healing. But your cleric must remember not to use Heal on you. Also comes with rebuke attempts. If your DM lets you stack night-sticks, you can use it to power Divine feats (CDiv, CWar) and Divine Devotion feats (CChamp). Sadly, spell list not nearly as good as Beguiler for a Melee combatant.
