If you could take one level...

My friend is a dragonkin, we're starting at level 8. He starts with 7 "levels of monster". If you could only take one level of a class, including prestige classes, what would you take?

Pretty much depends on what the monster can do. Ogre? Rage mage. :) minotaur? Warblade. Something like that.

Let's see... looks like they're not using the 3.5 update (which gives Dragonkin a level adjustment of +2), so... yeah, Warblade is a good choice, Crusader is a good choice, Barbarian and Fighter are fair choices. The base critter is designed as a melee brute, and the hit dice take the punch out of any casting class. I suppose if you were to squeeze in something like Ur-Priest or Divine Crusader, the casting could eventually become useful, but for the most part, not so much.
