Cramming Constructs into Portable Holes (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#portableHole) via the Squeezing rules (see my sig) can allow one to move quite a large army in quite a small space.
The Smoky Confinement (CMa) spell allows you to move even more.
But what if we incorporate Shrink Item (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/shrinkItem.htm) on the containers used for Smoky Confinement? Does it even work by RAW?
Smoky Confinement says it needs a "tiny item", a "bottle or vase" that can be sealed. For simplicity we'll just assume that a bottle (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/goodsAndServices.htm) is what we need.
Bottle, wine, glass, 2gp, Weight: — (negligible or, for our purposes, 1/10th lb.)
My questions are these:
- What is the weight and size category of a Shrink Item-ed Bottle?
- How many Shrink Item-ed Bottles can we fit into a Portable Hole or Enveloping Pit (MIC)?
- What is the final gp price for Smoky Confinement-ed Constructs in Shrink Item-ed Bottles?
- Price per Portable Hole full?
- Price per Enveloping Pit full?
What if we added another layer of fun? We cannot apply the Squeezing rules (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/movementPositionAndDistance.htm) to our Shrink Item-ed Smoky Confinement Bottles. But we could if we made them Animated (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/animateObjects.htm) Objects (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/animatedObject.htm).
- How many Shrink Item-ed Animated Object Bottles can we Squeeze into a Portable Hole or Enveloping Pit?
- What is the final gp price for Smoky Confinement-ed Constructs in Shrink Item-ed Animate Objects-ed Bottles?
- Price per Portable Hole full?
- Price per Enveloping Pit full?
Bonus Question:
- What size category would a Construct have to be for it to be cheaper/faster to shrink the Construct instead of the applying the above process?
I assume there is a minimum size that is worth the effort below which it's just as easy for the Construct to Squeeze into the space of it's own accord.
