View Full Version : Frenzied Berserker - Deathless Frenzy

Are there any other class features that act similarly to the Frenzied Berserker's (http://dndtools.eu/classes/frenzied-berserker/) Deathless Frenzy?

My players occasionally like to PvP, and they usually go all versus the Frenzied Berserker, who is legendarily powerful to them (He fairly mid op, and my players can't optimize for...well anything).
They don't want to take his place of "insane and angry mass murderer Barbarian", but are curious if there's anything similar.

In a way, the boar totem barbarian (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#boarTotemClassFeatures ) gains a similar ability (or rather it gains the Diehard feat at 1st level without needing to meet prerequisites but only while raging). Not quite as effective though.

The 9th level spell Hide Life can make anyone immune to death via HP damage.

You can also combine the spells delay death and beastland ferocity at much lower level. But they don't show up on the same list, so it's harder for a single character to pull off.

You can:
- Combine Regeneration (e.g. through Wild Shape + Enhance Wild Shape, Shapechange, Trollform or some such) and immunity to non-lethal damage (easiest is Favor of the Martyr from Paladin-list; Cleric can get it reasonably easily)
- Mentioned Delay Death + ability to function in the negatives. Persisted of course.
- Knight's capstone ability "Loyal beyond Death". As long as he has Knight's Challenges left he can keep acting regardless of his HP total.
- Crusader's Immortal Fortitude stance. You can make Fort-saves to make any damage dropping you to under 0 drop you to 1 instead. Combine with Master of the Nine's Counterstance + Stance of Alacrity to reactivate it whenever it automatically deactivates (normally after 3 hits). Of course, it's non-trivial to reliably make every Fort-save ever.

Of course, it's non-trivial to reliably make every Fort-save ever.
Oddly enough, the Knight has a way to do that: He also gets an ability, at 19th level, that means that rolls of 1 on a saving throw no longer auto-fail. You still need to have a high enough bonus to the save, of course, but that's not too hard to come by.

Alternately, if you want that ability for just Fort saves, you can get it from the feat Steadfast Determination, which also has the bonus of giving you Con to Will saves instead of Wis. Unfortunately there's a feat tax of Endurance to qualify for it, but it just might be worth it anyway.

For that matter, the crusader himself also has a way of reliably making saves: He can use the Aura of Perfect Order stance, which lets you take 11 on any d20 roll, once per round. But being a stance, you can't combine it with Stance of Immortal Fortitude.

And to add to the list, a 13th level factotum can, once per day, ignore damage that would take them below 0.

Pride-Domain helps quite a bit there. Still, just making DC 50+ Fort-saves regularly can be harsh.

I mentioned Master of the Nine; they also get Dual Stance.
