I was just about to post this in Eurus' Let's Play of DomIV when I thought that maybe, we should have a separate thread for this.

So. I've completed my first game of Dominions IV. Large map, half a dozen hard computers, I'm playing early age Pangaea with turmoil 3, growth 3, luck 3.

What it means is that, basically, after the early first round of conquest with blessed white centaurs, I didn't have to build any units at all other than Pani. They even restore their armies in the field, so I just had a dozen of them walking across the map, conquering everything that came into their way.

Though there was a bit of luck involved. I managed to find provinces that could recruit level 3 fire mages and versatile enchantresses respectively relatively early, so I could outsource my researching.

Still. Conquering the world with thousands of maenads is fun.

What are other players experiences? There doesn't seem to be that much new in Dom IV, but I'm still happy because I only now discovered the "repeat recruitment" button.

I'm going to get Dominions 4 for Chrismtas. . . :/

But I have no experience with it other than a demo for Dominions 3.

Oh, you'll have a lot of FUN! then. It's a bit overwhelming at first, especially since the interface isn't the most user friendly. A lot of commands are really only done via keyboard commands that are badly explained.

An easy nation to play is ma ulm. They have a strong front line in their pikemen, good ranged units. They have strong evocation magic in evocation 6 and they can forge cool things in a lot of paths. Take a rainbow pretender so you can fool around with different summons and items while your armies easily crush ai opponents.

Useful links for the Curious-Yet-too-Lazy-to-Google:

The Companies site, with a 'buy' button (http://www.illwinter.com/dom4/)
Dominion 4's main forums (http://www.desura.com/games/dominions-4-thrones-of-ascensions/forum)
The Manual, as a 3.4MB pdf (http://jaffa.illwinter.com/dom4/Manual_with_bestiary.pdf)
A somewhat more user-friendly database explorer. Might be somewhat inaccurate (http://dom4editor.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/inspector/index.html)

Man, I am loving Turmoil3-Luck3 EA Agartha.
Did you know they have 4 heros? All of whom are 3-priests and have at least 6 assorted magic paths?
I got them all in the first year one game. Can you say 'total magical supremacy'?

I also learned of this from Eurus's thread. Thanks dude.
