What are all the ways one can disable (Ex) winged flight?

Earthbind from Draconomicon is the first to come to mind. Trip works as well.

Winged flight doesn't work (without a feat) with a medium or heavy load in medium or heavy armor so strength damage is always a good option.

Theres a bunch of spells that will do the same albiet in a more direct route

Shooting them till they die is a pretty common one.

If you trip a winged flier they will stall.

You can also keep them from maintaining their minimum forward speed - most forms of winged flight are less than perfect.

The most basic way I can think of is to aim for the wings.

Called shots like that rarely work in 3.5 without houserules.

To the OP: Note that there have been several debates here on GitP regarding whether disabling a flyer - particularly a PC who flies - is deprotagonizing (and thus undesirable in the extreme) or not.

Have them tumble through a teleport ward and end up underground in a dungeon complex 10' high by 10' wide at best, down there it really doesn't matter if they can fly and unless the rest of the party can keep up whoever has the flight ability should be wary of being caught without their team mates.

Failing that decide how their winged flight ability works, if its an item then have them discover it was created via grisly means and distant relatives of the donor are hunting the current owner, if its natural let them find out some vile wizard is searching for people like them to turn their wings into a Wings of Flying item and it might be worth lying low until they and their party can sort out the mess.

Other than someone stealing the item but why has it proved a problem?

If you trip 'em, that drops them like 150ft in the first round, 200ft in subsequent rounds. Each round he gets a 15 DC Reflex save to recover. It's in one of the web enhancements.

Downdraft is a nice spell. I'm also a fan of obscenely strong characters with harpoons attached to ropes or chains which are attached to immovable rods.

My favorite tactic is throwing a tanglefoot bag at the flyer. If he can't move the wings, hello floor.

Likewise, a Dragonfire Adept with Entangling Exhalation works nicely to stall a flying opponent.

Heavy winds will do it.
