Hey all, I'm a longtime forum stalker but recently signed up. I have a question for everyone.

For Mephibosheth's Homebrew of Avatar (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68630)

How does one calculate all the bonuses to meet the DC for bending? What all plays in to the roll? BAB, Wisdom Modifier, I'm not totally sure and can't figure it out for the life of me. I would really like to play this with a group of friends but have to understand how it works.

Thank you!

Each class has a "Bending Skill" as a class skill, such as Airbending, Earthbending, etc. It's key modifier is Wisdom, and you can get a +2 bonus to it if you have at least 5 ranks in Knowledge (Bending).

Since the rules for it are shared among the classes, Mephiboseth put it in its own post, above the Airbender. The post is here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3747395&postcount=2), and includes information on combining forms, taking 10, overbending, etc.

Also, keep in mind that the classes were designed to work in a world that doesn't have much in the way of magic items. If you check the bottom of the post that I linked, you'll see that it's assumed that a level 20 Airbender is going to have +34 if they started with 18 Wisdom and invested all of their stat points into Wisdom while leveling up. That's +23 for ranks, +6 for Wisdom (22), +3 for Skill Focus, +2 for synergy with Knowledge(Bending). If you are playing in a world that has access to custom magic items, I'd discuss it with the DM before you pick up items that provide bonuses to the Bending skill check.

So every class has a unique bending skill. For example, Firebenders would have a Fire bending skill that gives bonuses to DC checks based on how many skill points are put into that skill. Is that right?

Wisdom modifier I understand, the Knowledge (Bending) I get as well. What exactly is skill focus?

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I'm just trying to fully understand everything before starting up a campaign.

skill focus is a feat that gives +3 to one of your skills.
