The group of adventurers had just watched a group of guards rushing down the street towards what they feared was an outbreak of zombies. After some deliberating they follow the guards towards the zombies.

The group moves quickly as to try to keep up with the guards who are running down streets. They slow at a market place and then start to tip over carts as peasants run down other alley ways in a panic. The guards seem to be trying to contain the area as you see several zombie creatures inside of an adjacent shoppe feeding on fallen peasants.

The guards make a ring of cart and tables around the shoppe and hunker down behind them as they await for reinforcements. You can see at least four of the zombie creatures moving within the shop. The guards seem rather confused as you notice that one of the zombies is a guard wandering within the shop as well.

Alright, so we have some action! Y'all fought these before, so what do we do first? Do we go headlong in? Do we drop back and set up an ambush readied to when the zombies try to leave the store? Up to y'all for the best option.

Trent looks around at the scene to see if any civilians are in danger.

Looking for unwritten people in range of the creatures. If I see any, will cast magic missile at the creature closest to a civilian and yell to get their attention.

The guards have the area sectioned off, Smell's Funny does not see any specific place where the creatures might have come from. The shop is between two other stores and has the appearance of a bakery but no one in your group has even been in this bakery. The shops on either side are a yarn and material store and a small metalwork place where nails and other metal building supplies are created. The guards have managed to make a barrier without a gap, however, the creatures are starting to come out of the bakery and towards the overturned tables can carts. A guard thrusts his spear toward a creature and the other guards cheer as he hits the zombie squarely in the chest. However, the creature continues to walk forward along the length of the spear as it does not seem to bother it. The guards excitement turns to horror as the creature gets closer and starts to swing its arms near the guards arms. He lets go of the spear. The guards screams only make the creatures focus in on him and the other three zombies start moving towards him.

Trent moves to the shaking guard that he saved. It's important that you not panic in the future. Blows to the body will do nothing, only destroying the head will work. And never leave one alive - it can spread easily. We need to block any pathways out of the sewers that they could use until we can find the source and destroy it. You should head to city hall and get records of the city's construction and inform any citizens that may have entrances in their homes or shops.

He heads back to his companions.

We should clear out the shop - it may have an entrance to the sewer that we can start from. Perhaps we can track them to their lair?

The bakery seems to be a complete mess with food, ripped clothing, and blood covering the ground. The shoppe contains the enterence area with a small seating place with a counter to show the bread. He sees a few thing of interest here, there is a back door to this establishment, which has been left open. Reyes also sees a store room and within the store room there is a large crate, which a man could fit within. The door to this crate has been opened and blood is scattered around the crate with a sign of a struggle. A quick explanation of what Reyes finds is that the baker found the crate in his store room unexpectedly, then curiosity got the better of him and he opened it only to find one of these half-dead creatures inside, which attacked him on the spot. Reyes also did not see anyone in baker's clothing among the dead out front.

Reyes, we will hopefully know more as we examine this new host. We do believe you are correct that they must be struck in the head, this appears to kill them. We also believe these creatures are some sort of demon plague and not true undead. They are controlling the host through their implantation."

"Hey uh guys...look at this here. We can follow these to find out where they went, but we may be too late. We could walk ourselves right into a trap. Well, I guess we don't have another lead, so if this is all we've got to go off of......."

Derek let his words trail off, almost as if he didn't want to pursue them. Their recent skirmish with the ratmen in the sewers must be making Derek hesitate. He picks up his Urgrosh in his hands and points it in the direction of the footsteps though. Afterall, the show must go on, right? [OOC: Group members each receive 150 xp for encounter]

The group, satisfied they had gotten what they needed continued to follow Smells Funny's lead deeper into the sewers as he worked on tracking the ratmen into the sewer system. The group has such high hopes of finding out what is going on. Many questions fill their minds, why are the ratmen doing this?, what do they hope to gain?, why do these creatures not seem to attack them but only humans?

Smells Funny stops the group in one of the tunnels. The stone here is old, from the original city construction and this passageway appers to not be originally sewer but street passageway that sunk down as the city grew on top of it. It has become apart of the sewersystem out of it placement and poor luck on the part of the stoneway. It takes a few moments to realize what the goblin is point towards. However, it becomes apparent that two scaven are guarding a doorway. The scaven look larger and more musclear than previous ones that the group has fought. Smells whispers that they are wearing armor, which will make them even more formidable in battle.

"There is something beyond that door. If time permitted I would say we must rest before continuing but each moment gives these demons more power in our city. I suggest we concentrate fire upon one of them in the hope that they come out to attack us. If one of us could draw them away while the rest get behind them we could catch them in a pincer and squeeze them."

What kind of distance can we get between us and the rat men so we can shoot at them? A couple of rounds would be good. What kind of cover is available? Can we get behind them at all?

The tunnel is long and narrow like an old castle passageway. There is lots of cover around in nooks, crannies, and other areas of the tunnel that have decayed. You might get a few arrows fired off before they arrive, if they run straight for you. There are passageways that veer off in many different directions.
