Hello, Playground.

So, I am wondering if I am able to increase the size of a creature regardless of their advancement progress (6HD-11HD Large, etc). For instance, could you create a large sized Bugbear(and Bugbear advancement is based off character class) just for fun, or do you have to adhere to the character class advancement (which wouldn't result in a larger size)?

Thanks.

There are a couple of suggestions in this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212083), but there doesn't appear to be a generic "make this creature bigger" option in official published 3.5 sources, based on my admittedly lazy and half-hearted searching.

Of course, if you're the DM, no one's stopping you from home-brewing Large bugbears if you want them. You'd want to increase the CR a bit (the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/improvingMonsters.htm#increasingSize) suggests a +1 CR for a size increase, but that's probably too low for a primarily melee opponent, given the associated bonuses to STR, CON, AC, reach, and grapple check).
