one of my players is an artificer with a mechanical arm that has various attachments that he can switch between as a standard action. Now my question is is that too much or should I make it a full round action?

Uh, mighty arms come in a set, and the rules on warforged components on the mighty arms is quite clear.
"Attaching or detaching a warforged component is a standard action that never provokes an attack of opportunity."
So it's one to take off, and one to put on.
PS: Funny side note, Warforged can spend 1,000 gp and get a pair of mighty arms, which give them a SECOND slam attack. Wacky or what?
