Gryffindor
Said Gryffindor, "We'll teach all those with brave deeds to their name."
Students of Gryffindor are typically brave, daring, and chivalrous. Famous members include Harry, Ron, Hermione, Albus Dumbledore (head of Hogwarts), and Minerva McGonagall (head of Gryffindor).

96

Ravenclaw
Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose intelligence is surest."
Ravenclaw students tend to be clever, witty, intelligent, and knowledgeable. Notable residents include Cho Chang and Padma Patil (objects of Harry and Ron's affections), and Luna Lovegood (daughter of The Quibbler magazine's editor).

Basically same with me, I love personality tests :smallwink:

I've never even read the books myself, which I'm told is probably why I liked the movies.

As an evil villain out to take the world, I already knew what I 'd get before I even did this.

Said Slytherin, "We'll teach just those whose ancestry is purest."

Slytherin students are typically cunning and hungry for power. Important members include Draco Malfoy (Harry's nemesis), Professor Severus Snape (head of Slytherin), and Lord Magtok, the greatest villain in history.

Khantalas
2007-01-19, 08:04 PM
Nah, the movies were good. Except for the last two. The books just had too much to be made into movies.

Yeah, I'm totally unsurprised. I always imagined myself as Ravenclaw, bookworm that I am, although then I thought of Hermione and couldn't help but wonder if I could sneak my way into Gryffindor. My best friend always tells me that I remind him of a cross between Hermione and Luna Lovegood (he says Luna scares the heck out of him so I'm not sure that's a good thing!). Seems to be fairly accurate, though I couldn't say I'm as certifiably insane as Luna, I'm definitely a bit like her. I don't make friends easily because I'm "different"...like her. Even though I don't believe everything I'm told--I'm more like Hermione that way, I'm very skeptical.

Well, cool.

It seems that I would be put at that Ravenclaw House.

Bleh, I would pick either House Ordos or House IX (Atreides and Harkkonen are far too extreme for my tastes) over any of those wizardry houses. ;P

We should do something with these things, now that they're a bit bigger. Like being the school, becoming the characters, or contests and the like? I think it could be fun to do what we come up with.

What about the tied people? Get to choose their house?

Dibs on Harry if we do. What? Like I said, I used to be told I look like him. Oh, and I forgot to mention that two of my friends had actually tried to get me to try out for the part.

To repeat some words from earlier, I cannot resist a personality test. Honestly, I expected Ravenclaw/Slytherin in first and second, and Hufflepuff to be dead last. Lets go to the results;

Highest to Lowest:
Gryffindor 75
Hufflepuff71
Ravenclaw 67
Slytherin 51

I have to say, I am at the same time both shocked and depressed. Personally, I see Gryf and Slyth as two sides to the same coin, when you take away their personalities, but still, a disappointment to me. Oh well, I have more protagonist on my side. Evaluation:
Brave? Not really...
Daring? No
Chivalrous? Overwhelmingly.

Not a perfect match-up, I grant, but I suppose it makes some sense.

I kind of figured I'd be Ravenclaw. Without reading too many of the books (I've read PofA and GofF), I tried to figure out what exactly is the leading characteristic of each house. Gryffendor was easy since the focus of the movies is on Ron, Harry, and Hermoine. Bravery is the leading characteristic. Gryffendors tend to be brave to the point of recklessness. Slytherin was next, because of Harry's almost selection. Slytherin favors Ambition. Slytherins have a strong desire to prove oneself and not care who gets in the way. THat is why so many Dark Wizards come from there. Ambition without Morals leads to great Evil. But Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff were a lot harder. Finally, because of Cho and some of the other Ravenclaws, it seemed they favored Intelligence over all else. Hufflepuff was a mystery to me until I realized the herbalist was a Hufflepuff. Compassion is their strength. So when looking at myself, I realized that I favored Intelligence over Compassion and Bravery and Ambition. Unlike Harry, I don't feel like I need to prove myself. I tend to think things through first and so am less likely to boldly go where angels fear to tread. So Bravery is less important. So it was a close thing between Raven and Huffle, but Intelligence tends to move me more. I am not a MENSA candidate or anything like that, but I prefer to hang out with smart, quick witted people so Ravenclaw is the perfect answer. Apparently I am not alone as many others on these boards are closet Ravenclaws, too.

That's just plain weird. Though as I think it through, it makes sense, thinking it through. Ravenclaw was a close second.

Ravenclaw 70 Whatever.

Tied between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. I'm surprised, I'm not power-hungry at all and I'm not very sneaky. I am personally unpleasant, yes, but in a helpful way, sort of like a much less hostile and assertive Dr. House.

The questions don't represent bravery well at all, in my opinion; under this quiz, being a Griffindor just means you aren't easily stressed. Being stressed and being effective anyway is a better measure of courage.

Don't want to derail the thread, but I followed one of the links from the quiz and found this "Get to know your child" quiz. It has all the same questions as the hogwarts quiz, only your answering for you child. The thing is, you can just answer for yourself and get the same results of the Hogwarts quiz, only broken down more and explained better.

Here's my results:

Openness to Experience - 57

I don't remember this guy :smallannoyed: I haven't read "Happy Rotter" (mohaha) for ages

He was the Head of Slytherin House and potions professor before Snape. His prized students were Tom Riddle and Lilly Evans (Lilly Potter's maiden name). Of course he looks back much more fondly at Lilly Evans than Riddle. He is loyal to Dumbledore but is also somewhat timid and cowardly. At first he was afraid that the Deatheaters would mark him for assassination if he went back to Hogwarts. He later resumed his teaching role at the request of Harry Potter because he was Lilly's son. At Hogwarts he reestablished the Slug Club, an exclusive social club, whose past members include Tom Riddle, Lilly Evans and numerous politicians and Quiditch players. Present members include Harry Potter, Ginny Wealsey, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom and Hermione Granger. He has a strict policy of excluding any student that has known Deatheaters in the family.
