View Full Version : Post Yourself as a Character!

Legendxp

Exactly as it says in the title. Assuming 'In Real Life', level 1. I'm pretty sure everybody is going to be human. Though I guess if you want to be a dwarf you can (If you have a beard), you just wouldn't get any of the racial traits (beside ability increases/decreases). I guess halfling or gnome would be ok too, if you're short.

Feel free to take other classes (I'm barring spell casting, psionics, etc... for obvious reasons). For example, if you are a competitor in a mixed martial arts tournament, 1 level of monk would be appropriate. If you have leather armor (biker's jacket?) and the such, feel free to include it in your AC.

If you ever feel that you don't want to include some information, just don't. Sometimes posting too much information about yourself is a bad idea. Notice that I didn't actually post my "character's" name or region.

Custom flaws, traits, items, feats, and skills are all welcome.

Here's my character:

Sure, I'll bite, I'll be using a vague comparison to the average person in Vancouver BC Canada, my home (film and entertainment hub of canada, 10th best transit system in the world, famous for high asian population, cultural focus and health focus (joke is everyone eats sushi, bikes and does yoga-- not totally untrue). I will not be using the Greyhawk average of 10 being Braveheart Scottsman Villager Extra.

Keep in mind that ever since I got my first DnD books (3.5) I have always considered progressing through life as if it were dungeons and dragons, and while I understand the flaws in the system perhaps I have incidentally progressed in ways that shows up better on a stat sheet

Character Level 2 AKA Combat Training: +1 BAB, (ect.) I am trained in Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan and Systema, I also have learned from Hun Ga, Northern-Hybrid Kung Fu, Shaolin Kung Fu, Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan, Shinto Ryu Karate and Shaolin Kempo. I have introductory study in Shaolin Kung Fu, Okinawa Weapons, South-East Asian Weaponry (Escrima and Associated Stick/Machete) and Karate.

Lightning Reflexes: I am considered to have exceptionally fast and deft reflexes, moreso than my general abilities.

Jack of All Trades: I'm considered to have something to talk about no matter what the topic is. "Party A: Blah blah blah X blah? Me: Ohhh X blah blah blah! Blah blah blah, and blah! Have you blah blah blah?"

Shortsighted (Flaw): I have been wearing glasses since I was about 13, I've had to adapt to it and when I was a teenager I didn't like doing rolls and such that would make them fall off, a considerable disadvantage to my end-result activities. I have since had to adapt.

Improved Unarmed Strike (Bonus Feat): I am trained in several martial arts and have experienced a wide variety of styles and understand the basics of all combat maneuvers.

STR: 15 (I'm prided by my social circle for being exceptionally strong, I am qualified and skilled in general physical strength, injury prevention, and general physical testing. I am qualified for and have a history with heavy labor/construction work, the highest being high intensity 120lb+ regular loads, full time.
DEX: 14 (I have an 8 year background in circus arts, I am qualified to be a professional circus dancer and am prided by my social circle for being exceptionally deft at applying and learning muscle memory, I am extremely focused and accurate with archery and firearms and I am qualified to teach several different weapon dances.
CON: 13 (I am above average in stamina, toughness and pain tolerance/indifference but I have never been acclaimed or shown exceptionally high stamina such as competing in a marathon or any such activity.
INT: 14 (I'm prided for being an exceptionally quick learner, I am detail oriented, have a large innate memory and am very resourceful/learned.)
WIS: 16 (I'm prided for being exceptionally grounded, perceptive and wise, it's long been regarded my most astounding trait, I very rarely get angry, irritated or upset and it is very hard to get on my bad side. I am mentored in and qualified to be a physical healer and am working on that career presently.)
CHA/APP: 13 (I'm considered exceptionally good with people, honest and trustworthy, understanding and with exceptional conflict resolution skills, charming and earnest. My attractive social qualities have gotten me in and out of sticky situations despite my well intentions. -- I am also very odd and subtle, I bedazzle, bewilder and at worst I am seen as random and bubbly. I sometimes find it hard to relate to people both in strengths and weaknesses, I don't fully understand when people get angry and I don't fully understand how people can be so outgoing or confident to do things they really shouldn't, in that respect I am lacking!
APP(From BoEF): I am considered above average in attractiveness, in personality, mentally and physically. I have a very healthy physical relationship with my partner (7 Months) and am complimented on my qualities regularly.

Hitpoints 2D8 (8 + 5) + Con (2) = 17

10 Trained Skills my life makes me use most.

All possessions I had on me 3 hours ago.

Con 12 (My endurance, while relatively good, is not my best asset)

Wis 8 (I'm a very chaotic and forgetfull person)

[B]Flaws: Passive (When taking any kind of aggressive action, roll any relevant dice twice, always taking the worst result), Caffeine Addiction
Feats: Silent Spell, Spell Mastery (Easy Math, Detect Cheez), Iron Will, Scribe Scroll, Great Fortitude

Description: Ironwizard is a sleepless college student. As a wizard, the sleepless part might not matter, except he can't seem to find his spellbook. As such, he prepares exactly two spells every day: 3 Easy Maths out of his 0 level slots, and 2 Silent Easy Maths out of his 1st level slots. He frequently scribes scrolls (formula sheets) of silent easy math. Alternatively, if the day will consist of DMing, he instead prepares Detect Cheez, for use on his players.

Expert 1/Factotum 1

Str - 11
Dex - 14
Con - 15
Int - 16
Wis - 13
Cha - 16

Most of my friends agree that I'm a Factotum. Having no experience with traps (who does?) I would say I qualify instead for the Changeling Rogue substitution level that swaps Trapfinding for Social Intuition. Interestingly, female and male friends tend to disagree on my Int/Cha ratio. Males tend to think I am more Intelligent while females tend to think I am more charismatic. I can easily lift 140lbs and move at half speed, I am dextrous enough to dodge attacks and pull off feats of manual dexterity, my toughness is well-documented after having been hit by a car, staying very healthy for years, and getting into more than my fair share of scraps. My IQ is over 140, I have a really great memory and noted common sense. I am a natural leader having been in many management positions, I just don't know that I am as charismatic as my lady friends seem to think...

Skills - Balance +3, Bluff +8, Craft (Art) +6, Craft (Cooking) +5, Diplomacy +8, Gather Information +6, Handle Animal +4, Heal +2, Hide +3, Intimidate +5, Knowledge (Arcana) +5, Knowledge (Religion) +5, Knowledge (Nature) +4, Knowledge (History) + 4, Listen +4, Move Silently +7, Profession (Customer Service) +5, and Sense Motive +6.

16 wouldn't be modest, though. Here, based on die rolls. A 3 or 18 is 1 in 216, very uncommon. A 4-5 or 16-17 is top/bottom 4.5 percent of population. 6-7 or 14-15 is top/bottom 16 percent. 8-9 or 12-13 is top/bottom 37.5, so 12 ain't is still pretty smart. 14 Int is noticeably intelligent and above most people they meet, but not a genius. 16 is reaaally smart.

If we are going off real standard deviations, 16-18 becomes twice as rare.

What would be the relationship between iq and intelligence score? The curve for 3d6 should work great in the middle but the really high and low scores wouldn't be represented.

What would be the range of scores for each number?
An iq of 85 - 115 is about as likely as an int score of 8-13, iq 70 - 130 about as likely as an int score between 5 - 16, iq 55-145 a little more likely than int score 4-17, does that mean an 18 is in the 150's area? or does it cover 145 and higher territory? But then what is a 19 int score?

Or is it better to just make up a system that sort of fits, something like ((IQ - 100)/5) + 10 = int score ?

I think that's pretty much it.

7 Int is around 70. 9 Int is about 85. 11 is 100. 13 is thereabouts of 115. 15 should be close to 130. 17 is near 145-150. 18-19 is in the high 150s and low 160s.

However, Int in D&D factors in knowledge and ability to regurgitate facts, not just raw intellectual power. So a case can easily made that a combination of ACT/SAT scores and IQ should work for D&D.

Is there any nonspellcasting variant of the druid? I guess Ranger could work as well since no spells until level 4. I actually could kinda be a druid 1/artificer 1.
I am an engineer so I feel like artificer could actually work in real life. kinda sorta.

This should probably be in the D&D forum, not the Homebrew Design since there's not a whole lot of 'brewin going on here. :smalltongue:

Skills dumped into a smattering of Knowledges and Profession (Gourmet Chef), and maybe a point or two into Craft (Digital Art).

Feat: probably something regarding Bluff, Diplomacy, Perform or Sense Motive.

Items: A bunch of ultimately useless things, like collections and such. I think the only thing I have that's useful in an adventure is my longsword, and even that's a bit rusted and not at all sharpened. :smalltongue:
