Aerin vs Elya- Arena Championship Finals

KEY:
-Each square is 5ft by 5ft.

-Colored squares: These are the starting areas. The challenger starts in the Red square, the defender starts in the blue square. You can start anywhere in the square.

-Big spikey circular thing in the middle: The Sarlaac pit. Or, for those who want to keep in more medieval, the Maw of Doom. Stepping in any of the squares the sarlaac touches starts a grapple check (Sarlaac has +25). Every turn while grappled, you take piercing and crushing damage, 3d6 each. After 2 full rounds of being grappled, you are sucked in and swallowed whole, taking 4d6 acid damage and 5d6 each of piercing and bludgeoning. The only way to escape is with a DC 25 climb check, which will let you escape from the digestive tract, but you're still grappled.

-Brown diamonds with red dots: Lava geysers. Every time you step in one there's a 25% chance that you take 10d6 fire damage (reflex half).

-Greenish blobs: Acid pools. 3d6 acid damage for every step through them. *

-Grey circles: Normal, boring, 5' diameter boulders. Use them for cover or for improvised weapons, or whatever else you can come up with.

-White circles with the two lines: Bunnies. Have absolutely no effect on the battle unless someone does something to them.

-Weird stick figure in the upper-left hand corner: Waldo. Oh, there he is. Basically like the bunnies, but he can be used as cover, too.

Aerin walks onto the floor of the Arena. She draws her sword, and suddenly her movements speed up incredibly, her body seeming to blur as she reads two scrolls so quickly that you almost can't see her switch between them. A pair of solar angels flicker into existence and begin casting their own spells, while Aerin pours oil onto her blade and finally starts moving at a normal pace. But then the speeds up again, her hands blurring as she moves them in the grand, sweeping gestures of spellcasting. Her longsword bursts into flame. She slows down once more, still casting spells, and then she stops.

When Elya does not spring into action, Aerin's eyes narrow in satisfaction, and she casts a spell. She pumps her wings and rises 50 feet into the air.

The solars to either side of her chant invocations as well, then rise up alongside and in front of Aerin.

Elya flies fowards and unleashes a tearing blast of magic at Aerin, then follows it up with a jet of cold energy.

Elya moves to O 25 and 5ft up in the air. She casts a Mage's Disjunction (DC 30) centered on O 6, then manifests an Empowered Energy Bolt (Cold) from O 26 to O 5 (angled up so it will hit Aerin, thus the 20ft subtraction from the 120ft line.

Aerin and the Solars shrink back to their normal sizes. The flames along Aerin's sword gutter as if in a high wind, but do not go out.

Aerin puts away her rod of absorption and activates another of the time stops in her ring. She hands blurs as she dives to the ground and speeds along just above it, finally pulling up and stopping face to face with Elya. The solars split apart and race to opposite sides of the arena.

Elya's energy conversion absorbs the blast of acid that comes at her, while her power from vigor negates the axiomatic rain. She frowns and flies a little higher and stops, still in the storm's effects for some odd reason. She makes a storm of icy hail and blackened fire around Aerin, draining at her life.

Aerin closes the gap Elya just opened and lets loose a furious rain of slashes with her longsword. Aerin's attack signals the solars to act, and they disappear, reappearing on either side of Elya. The rain continues to beat down on Elya, burning at her flesh.

Aerin activates her ring once more, her hands blurring through the incantations, and more storm clouds gather over the arena, lashing Elya with more burning rain. One of the solars flies up next to Elya and fires a ray of crackling black energy at her at point-blank range, but it is negated by her formidable defenses.

Aerin stands up, quite unhappy at her loss. Her sense of fair play demands that she accept her opponent's honestly-earned vitory, however, and she holds out her hand to Elya. I am glad that we are far more likely to be allies on a real battlefield than enemies, she says.
