If you're losing a caster level to Malconvoker, you're probably going to want to hit its level 5 and 6 abilities as soon after that as possible - the rest of its features just don't do much to make up for that relative loss of power.

Imbued Summoning is bad. You can get that ability for around 3k gap with the Summoner's totem from Magic Item Compendium.

Arcane Disciple isn't great either - especially when most of the good spells are already on your class list like Summoner, Time or Luck domains.

Some strong alternative feats for a Summoner are things like Rashemi Elemental Summoning, Cloudy Conjuration or Summon Elemental.

Its the passive effects on time/luck that im aiming at..and the extra uses of spells.

Imbued summoning is free.


The level loss hurts yes, but the cohort seems to make up for that loss.

Unfortunately, Arcane Disciple doesn't give either of those things. If you're house ruling otherwise, the feats will be great by all means.

Feat slots tend to be worth a lot more than a few thousand gp. Just trading that feat out for something like Quicken spell will be much stronger than a trinket that would cost a level 7 character's pocket change.

So lose time and luck for?

I believe I read that summoning domain gives you quicker access to planar ally
