Ok, so I've been going over the SRD rules for crafting magic items and I've gotten a little frustrated. It's been years since I've worried about them and maybe I'm just being too obsessive about nailing down every little detail explicitly or I'm missing something, but I'm having trouble figuring out the exact cost of this custom item, as well as its save DC.

What I'm wanting to make is a permanent item that casts Charm Person. Ring, amulet, glasses, something. As far I can tell, the cheapest would be a Hat of Authortah that could shoot out Charm Person with a command word, for 1800gp. The DC would be.. what? 12? I'm confused and frightened!

Anyone willing to lend a hand?

How many uses per day?

How many uses per day?

Thats another thing I was having trouble figuring out. If I had to make it limited uses or what!

I'm like unlimited, though the GM would probably throat punch me, but 3 or 5 would be traditional I reckon.

CL = caster level
SL = spell level

A command word item costs CL * SL * 1800

charm person at CL 1: 1*1*1800 = 1800 gp

There is no craft DC for crafting magical items.

And yeah that is quite cheap...

Extremely cheap! But the save DC would be, what? 12?

If you craft it, you would use your stats to determine the DC

Nope (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/magicItemBasics.htm#savingThrowsAgainstMagicItemPo wers), DC 11 (10 + spell level + minimum ability score to cast the spell).
