It's a joke, really.

"Every time you bring physics into a discussion about a fantasy setting, God kills a catgirl. Please, think of the catgirls."

It's a reference to that Internet meme that involves Domo-kun chasing a kitten.. >.>

I believe Michael Poe came up with it.

Every time you try to apply physics to a fantasy setting, God kills a catgirl.

Bah, should've expected the Simu-post.

It's a spin off of the phrase "Every time you play with yourself, god kills a kitten". It's basic point is that the D&D rules have nothing to do with the real world, and you should never try to impose real world science and physics in the D&D rules.

If your wondering what a catgirl is, Wikipedia does a better job then I could

because catgirls don't make sence, its a pun off the kitten because there ARE kittens in the real world but not catgirls, they are strictly fantasy, so its like saying "A wizard did it..."

I bet you it's a wizard killing a catgirl and using illusions to blame it on god... wizards are pricks

Because using RL physics while explaining fantasy physics/phenomenons qualifies as fanwanking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanwank).

And comes with a cute illustration!

(*Can't believe he missed that when he brought it up in the catgirl thread earlier XD.*)

I think it's because it's targeted at the ever growing number of cat-girl obsesses anime fans, which happen to make up a considerable percentage of the residency of most internet forums and chatrooms.

*Is a case in point :-p.*

Everybody loves catgirls.
But where do catgirls go when they die? The beastlands? Some sort of freakish anime plane? I must know so I can pick an appropriate alignment.

I'd imagine most fantasy catgirls go to The Beastlands... but the cutest, cuddliest, domestic type catgirls wind up going to bytopia where they become the loving pets of celestial gnomes...

On which note, I shall now be getting a race change to gnome.

But not catgirls?

Clearly you have never been to an anime convention :)

You're all meddling with powers you do not understand! talk of them only aids their strength in numbers! Quiet the lot of you before they draw near utter their terrible war-cry, "Kawaii!". If I had a dollar for every good soldier I lost to that terrible mockery of a bonzai charge I could conscript a new army.

Catgirls have been around a long time, ever since the ancient east asian hengenyokai (spirit animals who can change into humanlike forms) and bakeneko (magic cats, who oftentimes had human features). They are an ancient and powerful force to be reckoned with indeed.

Interestingly enough, you rarely see catboys, and when you do their even more androgenous then elves.

No, no they don't. My group hates them.

In current culture, catgirls are like Ninjas. It doesn't matter what they used to be, it only matters what people think they are. Connotation is everything.

You have that backwards. Saying that there's no limitations because it's magic is fanwanking. Physics reins things in a fair deal. :smallamused:

And we should use physics to explain fantasy phenomena more, because the fewer catgirls, the better. :smallmad:

But myth buster said that god kills a catgirl when using physics to explain fantasy phenomena was busted.

Good thing I have enough power to cast Contingent True Resurrections on as many catgirls are killed at a time. Know why there's so many? Part of the price for these contingencies involves increasing their numbers. ;)

I also believe catgirls get 9 true resurrection as self target only and obliviously they could use after they have died.

Actually, it's 9 Contingent Resurrections

ockery of a bonzai cha

bonzai

Bonsai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonsai) or banzai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banzai_charge)? Phear the kawaiiiiiiii catgirls and their tiny tree terror!

Although - with your mention of terrible mockey - I must ask: error = intentional? :smallwink:

Matthew

I nearly asked that, but your version of asking was much funnier. I would prefer to think it was intentional...

Don't forget Captain Kirk's fight with a Cat Girl in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

F***en siggied!

And since it can't be proven otherwise we'll assume I used my immense powers of wit and abyssal skill in Pratchett-esque punnery.

I killed my first catgirl last session...we had a "random encounter" with an acid rain storm...and I commented that there must be a volcano nearby, since we're in a preindustrial society. The DM's comment? "Uh, no, it's magically acidic, caused by the chemical residue of alchemical experiments..."

My response? "Are you telling me a wizard did it?"
