Hello everyone, this is my first post on these forums. I've only very recently shown interest in Pathfinder after a friend invited me to play in his first attempt at being a DM. I'm very much into RPGs, however I have never before delved into tabletops. While I know the following idea is most likely absurd, and will not be the character I'll be playing come next week. (Probably a minion based wizard or a dex/int rogue)

Basically, I was wondering if anyone had played an unarmed fighter who took improved disarm and focused on trying to steal the opponent's weapon for use against them. I understand not everyone uses a weapon, hence why I'd assume the character would be capable in his unarmed ability. It's likely, as I said before, absurd, however the mere thought of such a character sounded really interesting to me. Even if I cannot attempt it, I'd definitely be open to hearing the opinion of others on this concept.

Hopefully this won't be my last post here, as I've grown rather fond of merely researching a game I haven't even played yet. Hopefully I find it as enjoyable as the research aspect, if not more so.

Welcome to the forum, I won't be of much help with this particular task but I can tell you that this thread is better suited for the 3.5 subforum (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=59) since Pathfinder is basically a modified version of D&D 3.5 so it belongs on that one, I think you can ask the moderators to move it by reporting your thread or something like that.

Edit: I would also like to say that is a cool idea for a character, it won't be the best for damage but it's still a fun idea.

I very much appreciate the quick reply, I'll message a moderator ASAP. And yes, it definitely won't be a powergamer's dream, but it just sounds interesting to have someone who wills his enemy's weapons against them.

Report in this case means click the button underneath your avatar on your post. :)

And yeah, the 3.5/p forums are very active so I'm sure they can help you.

I guess the most straight forward way to do that would be to play a Monk with the Maneuver Master (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/monk/archetypes/paizo---monk-archetypes/maneuver-master) archetype. Gets the required feats as bonus feats, full BAB for combat maneuvers, roll twice for CM and take better (at 4th level), additional combat maneuver each round (so you could do a disarm, then trip or grapple), unarmed damage build in, ... .

Of course, it can't really use the weapon unless it's a monk weapon, so if you want to strike with it you would need to dip a class with access to martial weapons (e.g. Fighter).

Another option would be the Brawler class from the upcoming Advanced Class Guide, you can check out the free playtest (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/advancedClassGuide) on the Paizo site. I built one that focuses on combat maneuvers and it looks OK, but I haven't played it yet.

That probably would be the best idea since they have a class feature that's basically a Fighter's weapon training but for combat maneuvers instead of weapons, you would need a dip to get martial weapons or spend a feat on Martial Weapon proficiency. Also there is currently nothing saying you cannot use Brawler's flurry with heavy armour on so if you use Brawler and take a dip into Ranger for proficiencys you would only have to spend one feat to get heavy armour.
