If a PC is using the Rod of Wonder offensively, what determines if it hits the yarget or not? What is the range increment? Surely it isn't an auto-hit.

There is a lot of low DC Fort saves. and other low saves for that matter, which is almost worse than rolling to hit

So it is auto-hit? What is the range? Simply whatever effect you roll?

From what i can gather it should just affect the target; you or the "target" based on the % roll. which is very crazy.

if i remember right, rods are 3/day, so you have a vast chance of some sort of shenanigans happening

rods have unlimited charges and unlimited uses per day unless otherwise stated in their entry. this is stated (in different words) in the DMG under the entry for rods.

the rod of wonder can be pointed at any target you can see. whether one of its random effects happens to that target, you, or some other random thing is the D% roll.

the rod of wonder does not need to be pointed at a creature of any living thing.
you just point it in a direction and decide to activate it.

they are incredibly fun and one of my favourite items:smallbiggrin:.
