[PF] Encounters per day?

I have been searching for a while, but I am unable to find a rule or a guideline about how many encounters per day is it ok to throw at the players. For 3.5 I was going for around 4 challenging encounters/day, depending on the party and the situation.

Is there something I am missing? I feel uncomfortable trying to figure out the party's limits every level :smalleek:

It should be roughly the same as 3.5, since the system is so similar. Remember that you can switch around the number and CR if you want to either a) give a shorter/longer day, b) wear them down, or c) crank up the difficulty.
