DOMT lvl 4 fighter uses?

So we're running a 4 player party, 2 lvl 8 (Druid and a ranger) and 2 lvl 9 (Barb and Duelist)

We just encountered the Deck of Many things, it went OK. Dead druid, soul-less, coma ridden ranger, Duelist came out unscathed. As did I.

I picked up a lvl 4 fighter, who does not advance, so his/her usefulness will not last long it seems, aside from being a pack mule/meatshield.

Other than a RP opportunity any interesting ideas to make them a little more useful?

No homebrew though, all else goes.

if you can make the character, have it have as low int as possible and as much cha as possible. max ranks in intimidate.
