Just fishing for suggestions on races that go well with the Dragonborn of Bahamut template.

Since the template obliterates most special racial abilities, some races will do better with the template than others. Mongrelfolk, Water Orcs and Goliaths seem to be popular.

Of course it depends on what class(es) you will be pursuing. Not for any build in particular, just seeking inspiration.

Throw some off the wall suggestions at me!

Cheers - T

Warforged is amazing. You lose nothing except for the plating, and the flavor of a robot dragon is just too damn cool.

I like... is it Sun Elf? Star Elf? Whichever has that boost to INT. Dragonborn gets rid of the CON penalty. Pretty cool for a Warblade/Eternal Blade.

Raptorian depending on your interpretation (Is Flight a movement speed?).
Seems fair (Stats & 1 aspect or Wings & 1 aspect).

It's pretty great with anthropomorphic bat and desert half-orc, for druid purposes.

Dragonborn also works well with the Arctic template, especially on a Mongrefolk. End result is -2 Dex, +8 Con, -2 Int, -6 Cha. Just don't get Ego Whip'd.

According to Tier system for templates (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=7044), Dragonborn is very good for Catfolk
Dragonborn: Dragonborn deserves special mention. Unlike other templates, what you gain and lose from it is highly dependent on your starting race. For example, a Catfolk makes out extremely well with this template (Tier 2), but for a Human it’s a terrible choice (tier 4 or 5).

Warforged, as was mentioned, is pretty great.

I like it on gray or fire elves - +2 Int, -2 Str or Cha is pretty hand for a lot of builds.

There's some mild cheese to be had with frostblood orcs. They gain Endurance as a bonus feat, and if you later gain Endurance from a class, you can instead gain any other feat that you qualify for. So, be a frostblood orc ranger or what not, and gain a bonus feat of your choice when you nab Endurance. Then take the dragonborn rebirth ritual. You lose Endurance, but since the new feat that you nabbed isn't actually a racial bonus feat, you don't lose it. So, you've essentially made an orc with better stats, some actual class abilities and a bonus feat.

You also made an orc with at least one level of ranger, so that kind of evens it out :smalltongue:

EDIT: Unless it's SotAO Mystic Ranger ofc.

Lesser Aasimar with the Draconic template. Adding Dragonborn on top of that gives: +2 Str, +4 Con, +4 Cha, +2 Wis, -2 Dex; all for just LA+1.

races that go well with dragonborn are races where most of their benefits come from stat changes. because the template takes away most other things that races get.

What you keep is:
Type and subtype (this is what makes Warforged so good, since most of their goodies come from the Living Construct subtype)
Ability score modifiers (this is what makes Mongrelfolk so good, if you're Con-SAD)
Size and Powerful Build (this is what makes Goliaths good)
Movement modes (this is what makes Raptorans good)

Of course, some races will fall into multiple categories, like Catfolk (though they're probably not really worth it to begin with).
