Is Phrenic worth it?

I am rolling up a sorcerer at level 7 the plan is to be sorcerer 5/wild mage 10/fatespinner 5. my question is if phrenic template which is a +2 LA is worth it. LA buy off is allowed so I'd already have bought one off.

For that? Yeah. Don't bother picking up many enchantments, since you'll have dominate. Early one it really can hurt, thought.

Awesome abilities, good stat modifiers and buyoff at 6 and 9, why wouldn't you want this?!

Only time phrenic isn't worth it is generally when mixing with other templates/races for a combined LA above +3 or with DM's that work against psionics. Otherwise it's generally great across the board for both magic users and melee builds.

You'd still have one level of it, and that means leveling through one level twice. It's...debatable. If you're not expanding your spells known in various ways (Ancestral Relic abuse etc.) then it might be worth it, if not then less likely.

It is always fun to pair it or other SLA granting templates with a lesser planetouched race and the feat Magic in the Blood. Turn SLA's/PLA's that were 1/day into 3/day.
