As I posted elsewhere, I'm willing to run Call of Cthulhu. However if I'm going to run this game, I'd like something run that I don't normally get to play. These would be Toon, Lone Wolf, Star Wars: Saga, or anything Palladium. Whoever runs that game for me automatically gets a slot. (game is being arranged so anyone can join the COC game)

the 16
What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)?
Call of Cthulhu

What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)?
5th Edition I believe

How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?
6 alternates may ask to be alternates

What's the gaming medium (OOTS, chat, e-mail etc.)?
OOTS

What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)?
Starting

How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with?
as rolled

Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes?
Unless it's unusual for the 20s or 30s, it's doable

What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species?
humans only obviously

By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points?
roll by rules. If you need them, just holler

Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?
no alignments but no cold blooded killers. The monsters and villains do that well enough.

Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it?
Not Applicable

Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them?
players can make their rolls on the forum

Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.
We'll be using the 1920s bonus abilities.

Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)?
Some background. I'll post the first story soon. This could be a continuing series.

Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above?
CoC is roleplaying first, then puzzle solving, and if you're down to hack and slash, you're in trouble. But build your character as you wish.

Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?
basic book, 1920s, maybe Miskatonic.

I'm in! Always been curious about this game. I just got off a plane, so I won't be fully functional till tomorrow. I think I'd run a Star Wars Saga game...

Very interested and I will work on a concept tomorrow.

As for running something, Palladium maybe?

TerrickTerran

Palladium is always good

TT, what genre works for you (mutants, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, superhero, or some mash-up)?

What's the setting for your CoC story? Initially I'm thinking about a priest who investigates the supernatural, but she's unprepared to face this new event.

TerrickTerran
2014-01-16, 11:37 AM
The initial plan I have is something I've had plotted for a while about people trapped in a hospital that's more than it seems. I'll get it posted sometime this weekend.

As for the other...anything works honestly. So much to want to play, so few chances to do so.

Oh, I absolutely LOVE Cthulhu mythos. I'd like to join your game if you don't mind me doing so. When is the deadline for applications?

TerrickTerran
2014-01-16, 01:57 PM
Let's see if we can get people with characters by Monday but I'm flexible. If we have to wait till Wednesday I can go with that.

If anyone needs help with their character, let me know.

Zirinne
2014-01-16, 03:08 PM
Okay, Monday should be fine for me :) Say, can I roll statistics for my character first and then decide on her occupation/backstory accordingly? I kind of like this method, as it often forces me to play something I wouldn't consider otherwise.

TerrickTerran
2014-01-16, 03:29 PM
fine by me.

Fabletop
2014-01-16, 06:41 PM
TT, give me a genre, please. I've run enough games to know the setting has to match player expectation for any chance of success. TYIA.

Since we're in a hospital, I'm thinking a cop receiving medical care for being shot in the side gets his ish together to assist the party vs. Whatever horror awaits. Rather than having his full arsenal & support, he's alone with only a hold-out pistol & his wits (plus complementary hospital apron - "where's my pants?")

TerrickTerran
2014-01-16, 06:47 PM
Superhero would be good. Gives me a chance to break out some stuff.

Concept sounds good.

Fabletop
2014-01-16, 06:53 PM
Superhero it is. Already have a few ideas in my holster. I'll post an interest thread to see how many friends you'll have.

The CoC concept will be up Sunday as I'm very busy until then.

There still room in here for one more? Love to play a CoC game.

2014-01-16, 08:17 PM
Got it. Sorry, woke up not that long ago, still a bit fuzzy.

I'll start drawing up a character concept. Thinking about a reporter character. What city'll this be set in?

D20ragon
2014-01-16, 08:38 PM
Could I play a doctor? Also, could this also be a mental hospital? My character is a formerly insane man who recovered after doing terrible things, and now teaches courses. He has a pathological fear of going insane again, so he's not in a good way when facing the Lovecraftian. I can change this, if it doesn't fit, however.

Luigilewis889

Hold up, just want to ask a quick question. When we roll the stats up, are we allowed to swap rolls with the same dice? STR, CON, POW, DEX and APP can be swapped around, then SIZ and INT? It's listed as an alternate rolling method, but it helps build the characters we want.

TerrickTerran
2014-01-18, 06:38 PM
I'm open to people rolling their stats and switching in-between if their character won't work well (a 4 Str Cop would take a lot of explaining for instance) Rayvin has asked permission to choose education and I'm fine with that so the character can be a teenager.

EARNINGS: Lower Middle class to Middle class.
CONTACTS AND CONNECTIONS: Law enforcement,
local shopkeeps, street scene, possibly organized crime.
SKILLS: Club, Drive Automobile, Firearms, Fist/Punch,
Grapple, Kick, Law, Persuade, Track.
SPECIAL: +1 to STR and to SIZ. Add 50 bonus points to
any weapon or melee skill. Officers on the street are used
to a certain level of violence and murder scenes or the sight
of gross injuries are unlikely to result in sanity losses.

Rayvin
EARNINGS: Writing ad copy brings a Lower Middle class
income. The return for writing other material varies widely.
CONTACTS AND CONNECTIONS: Libraries, other
writers, the publishing, advertising, and/or film industries.
SKILLS: Art, English, Fast Talk, Library Use, Other
Language, Persuade, Psychology.
SPECIAL: Special skill of Literature History begins at
1D20+20 points.

D20ragon assuming you play the doctor (if you play a surgeon or something else, let me know and I'll send you what it is)
EARNINGS: Middle to Upper class.
CONTACTS AND CONNECTIONS: High community
status; an accredited physician might be able to talk his way
past many standard hospital regulations, obtaining evidence
not readily available to others.
SKILLS: Accounting, Bargain, Biology, Credit Rating,
First Aid, Latin, Library Use, Medicine, Persuade,
Pharmacy, Psychoanalysis, Psychology.
SPECIAL: Add 30 points to Credit Rating. Due to the
nature of the work, physicians may be immune to some
sanity losses caused by injury and death. Medical examiners
are particularly resistant to these sorts of losses.

TerrickTerran

okay, that will be a different one. Use this instead

EARNINGS: Lower Middle to Middle class.
CONTACTS AND CONNECTIONS: Others in the psychological
field. May have personally met Sigmund Freud,
Carl Jung, or other prominent European psychologist
SKILLS: Accounting, Bargain, Biology, Fast Talk, Library
Use, Medicine, Other Language, Persuade, Pharmacy,
Psychoanalysis, Psychology.
SPECIAL: A trained psychoanalyst can use his techniques
to negate the effects of his own temporary insanity.
Successful negation requires a Psychoanalysis roll.
Regardless of the outcome, the sanity point losses still
apply.

Just to note, this is still a very new field at this point. Most people will call you an Alienist and you won't have the respect of a regular doctor.
