I don't get that Cake one, could someone explain?

For the cake thing: The final match for the World Cup this year was between Argentina and Germany. Apparently the person who made this cake brought it to a party one of his friends was hosting for the final (his friend being a big Argentina fan, cake guy being a big Germany fan). At first glance, the cake appeared to be the Argentina flag… but upon cutting it, it showed the German flag in the colors of the cake layers.

.....I don't get it, which one is which? Because Light could easily be either one....while L can be Euthanatos because he investigates crime and therefore murders and is therefore kind of bringing murderers to justice and therefore bringing peace to the murdered souls so....please clarify?

Light's the Euthanatos, between the magical book of killing (a focus for Entropy/Correspondence effects, no doubt) and the initial goal of cleaning the world of evil followed by descent into insanity (afflicted by Jhor). L, being the tech-based international detective, is definitely NWO, either Watchers or Operatives.

For those not familiar with the Archetypes, I'd provide links but they're not up on the SRD yet:

The Infiltrator is all about disguise and slipping your way into a group or place to disrupt it from the inside. Which is pretty much exactly what Michael Westen does in Burn Notice.
The Sleuth is described as relying more on luck than anything else. And you have to admit; Tex Murphy is pretty damn lucky.
The Spiritualist is all about dealing with spirits and such in the course of an investigation. Who else would fit that bill but Chicago's resident wizard, Harry Dresden?

Coincidentally, it appears that the entry for That Damned Crab, which had been listed on the Wizards website, have since disappeared (probably during the recent transition to 5e). Does anyone know where I can find the actual stat block? I know that there is a Monstrous Crab entry in Stormwrack, but that one isn't nearly as insane.

This massive creature scuttles about with surprising speed and grace for its size. Its shell is brightly colored in shades of deep orange to bone white, and its twin claws are both sharp and large enough to behead a horse with one slice.

Monstrous crabs are scavengers, and they feed upon the reeking bodies of dead sea creatures that wash up on shore. Despite this, they aren't above attacking still-living creatures upon sight, since monstrous crabs are always hungry.

Combat

A monstrous crab is straightforward in combat. It lumbers forth toward the nearest target and attacks with its claws. Once a monstrous crab has a morsel or creature in each claw, it retreats into the water to feed. Creatures held in its claws when it does so soon drown if they can't breathe water.

Constrict (Ex): With a successful grapple check, a monstrous crab can crush a grabbed opponent, dealing 1d8+9 points of bludgeoning damage.

Improved Grab (Ex): If a monstrous crab hits an opponent that is at least one size category smaller than itself with a claw attack, it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it gets a hold, it also constricts on the same round.

Powerful Claws (Ex): A monstrous crab always applies 1.5 times its Strength modifier to damage inflicted with its claws. Additionally, it gains a +4 racial bonus on grapple checks.

Vermin Traits: A monstrous crab is immune to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects). It also has darkvision (60-foot range).

Level 6 party, maybe. However, it's listed as a CR 3. You throw that at a level 3 party as a "level appropriate encounter" and you'll likely have a TPK on your hands. I believe someone looked at the stats and calculated that it should actually be a CR 7 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=10364313&postcount=27).

EDIT: Missed the allip bit there. Yeah, I think it falls into the same "under CR'd" camp as those.

It's implied that he chose the class first and foremost to annoy the DM who was trying to run a "pure" European fantasy game, but still, a Monk is a Monk. Not just that, he even wanted to be an Elf Monk but the DM put his foot down there (worst melee class + CON penalty = SO OP, AMIRIGHT?).

Lodge didn't want an elf because he said "humans only", so the Cass' whole character is basically trying to "win" d&d by driving the dm insane, which is a very munchkin thing to do, even though he would've completely gimped his character if it was a fictional session, something no min maxer would do.

I watched the third one not long ago. They still refer to D&D (or possibly pathfinder) a bit but most of it is about a fictional collectible card game. Very much worth watching though.

I don't recall why Cass was playing a Monk, but I thought it was odd that a munchkin/power gamer would take such an under optimized class. Especially since he out lived the party bard many times over.

Could this be a challenge then? Build a party of six characters at level 3 to tackle an allip and that damn crab. You know what your enemies are, and you know the environment, is it doable? How much cheese, baring in mind how little is available at that level. Over to you guys!

That Damn Crab:
If on land: Ride a light warhorse (60ft move speed, 150gp) and have a bunch of ammunition. Shoot the crab with a bow or something while riding the horse to end your turns at least 95ft away so it can't charge you (you can accomplish this with double-move while you fire, or can move 300ft while Running if desired. Yes that is legal). If you're worried about it Running to catch up and make AoOs, use some WBL to pick up Horseshoes of Speed (either make someone craft it, or have each party member chip in). Crab can't catch up or make ranged attacks. You win eventually.

If in water: As land, but be druid3, a water-breathing race, have a large aquatic mount (animal companion?) with speed >40ft. If the Damn Crab tries to move to land, cast Fins to Feet on your mount. Keep plinking away with projectiles.

Allip
Ride a light warhorse, have at least one Warlock level with Eldritch Spear invocation to boost EB range to 250ft. Stay far away from the allip (ending each round at least 185ft away would suffice to remain outside its Babble range, even if it Runs at you). Plink away with EB until it dies. If you're concerned about the horse's ability to Run for long enough, grab Horseshoes of Speed (+30ft) so it can go 180ft on a double-move, and only Run up to 450ft when needed.

While probably not the place to say it, and probably going to regret saying it, I feel the argument at ~4:30 in the second movie sums up a decent portion of the arguments in the Jedipotter threads.

Actually, "it fit the story" isn't something Jedipotter would argue, since Jedipotter doesn't believe D&D games should have stories. Stories and plots are a newfangled invention of the rudisplorkers, after all.

Yeah, but I'd consider Cass to be both. The movie shows his training regime to memorize the stats of every monster making him a min maxer. His response to the wish at the end of the movie is classic munchkin.

If you write double U, you also have to write it Ragyou Kiryuuin. Mark all long vowls or none, no cherry picking. :smallwink:

The correct spelling would be きりゅういんらぎょう, but Kiryūin Ragyō works as well.

But it doesn't matter, since english speakers can't pronounce it anyway. :smallbiggrin:

Just a note, the language in that poster may or may not be disallowed, depending on the mood of the moderators. Posting any banned words in a picture could be seen as trying to bypass the filter and is frowned on, and while I'm not 100% sure that anything there is on the banned list… well, probably best not to find out.

I have read JAGS Wonderland. It was wonderfully creepy, amazingly evocative, and I couldn't think of a single way to run it that would do it justice.

Random once in a while poster popping in to say that he too, has read the mad glory of Jags wonderland and felt at a loss as to how he could ever contain such insanity in a roleplaying game.
Although I did get pretty close. But we only fit in one session. However, by the end of it, one of my players was panicking fairly hard. He couldn't find a place to sleep that didn't try to **** with him in various ways.

I keep thinking one should run the fluff of JAGS: Wonderland with the crunch of NWoD's GMC (with maybe bits from Demon) and Changeling: the Lost. You take the Hedge and its strange sights, and then you take Arcadia. And then you have a machine that's supposed to manage all that stuff but is too broken to do so.
