Imagine a big room.
It includes 2-3 cubed sized pits which are 10 foot wide and 10 foot deep. A climb check is needed to get out of them. DC XX. Whoever falls or gets pushed in one of the pits needs to roll d6. On a 1 or 2 there is steam shooting out from the bottom of the pit (Natural thing, can't recall the name in english) dealing 1dx of damage.
Now this cave/cavern/room is inhabited by a creature. A leader of goblins maybe, a bugbear? I want him to be able to push PCs into these pits. And maybe in better ways than just bullrushing them. Can you think of anything that might work? If appropriate I can throw in some goblins to help him out or make it more exciting.
Thinking about a party of 5th level characters (5 people) and a CR of 7.
